7.5mos old not drinking much BM or formula in last week Added: 16 days ago. Added by: larkspur69 Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
Hmmmmm HELP! My beautiful, healthy 21pound baby girl is 10days shy of 8mos and for the last week or so, has been steadily decreasing how much BM/formula she will drink. She`s still peeing and pooping though. She was regularly breastfeeding in the am 1x and then my husband would bottle feed either BM or formula for the rest of the day. Every 3-4 hours she was taking 5-6oz but now is pushing the bottle away after only 2 or 3oz. She is happy to eat her cereal with fruits or veggies 3x day. Should I be worried...could this just be a phase? We have a doctor appt. next week, and I will chart her intake daily til then. Today was the least amt. She drank 4oz at 3am, breastfed at 8am, 2 bottles of 2.5 oz each at 11 and 230pm and refused the breast at 530pm...so I pumped and tried to get 2 oz into her. At 8pm she went to bed with another 2oz only. ** she`s also stopped sleeping through the night for the last 3 wks (argh) and seems to drink more at midnight and 3am than any other time of day) Confusing question?? (todays total is approx 20oz)

Is she teething? My little girl went through and still does go through those phases and all I can say is when shes hungry she will give you signs. Other than that she should be fine. Until a growth spurt happens and then its back to before eating and drinking alot

21 ozs of BM or formula sounds fine to me - I have Zach on follow on formula (from 6 months) and it recommends 21 ozs per day.. He also quaffs between 3ozs of watered down pure fruit juice with lunch and 2-3ozs of water with dinner. You have to remember that her fruits and veggies will also contain water and it all helps in aiding hydration. As long as she is having plenty/normal amount of wet diapers then I wouldn't be concerned at all. Also, Zach has started waking through the night - though not to feed, he just has a little cry then goes right back over... So just a phase perhaps too.. If she's taking extra through the night, it might explain why she takes less through the day, Zach doesnt drink between 7:30pm and 7am...

At that age my daughter would only drink 24 oz in a day max. Is she maybe eating too much fruits and veggies during the day that she doesn't want to drink her milk? I could be just a little phase but I would definitely track it to ask the dr next week.
