He just turned a yr Nov 10. I am so lost when it comes to taking him off of formula. I was planning on finishing up the formula I had left, which would be about another 2 weeks worth, but I have no idea what I am doing. I dont know what else I can feed him during the day. He does have some stuff like regular oatmeal, cheerios, cereal bars, yogurt, n he has some of whatever we eat during the day. But I feel if I take him off of formula, he wont be getting enough. I need a pep talk and some suggestions as to what else he can eat. He only has 6 teeth, 2 on bottom, 4 up top. All front teeth. So I`m not sure what else I can feed him. Not just to snack on, I need meal ideas. Thanks ladies!!

AmberRamirez - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) morning I feed my one year old cherrios and bananas, some times I feed her oat meal and blueberries. I always feed her fruit. I give her toast (100% whole wheat bread). Lunch time: Macroni cheese and hot dogs, with fruit (peaches or pears, sometimes mandrin oranges). Other lunch is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which have to be cut really good. My daughter eats this all so well. She feeds her self. Snacks you can feed crackers, and fruit. Sometime you can do cheese bread. Kids love it. Fruit is huge to them they love it. I work at a daycare in the one year old class room and they love the fruit. They feed themselves. Oh dinner you can feed them just about anything your eating that is soft and easily able to pick up. I fed my daugther last night noodles with beef and pineapple. Beef cut really tiny. She needs her protein. She doesn drink whole milk. She doesnt like it. She has stomach problems, she has always been on soy formula so I am sure the milk tasted bad to her. So I am still giving her 9 months 24months formula. Ped doc oked it. Until 18 months where I can try again with her whole milk. Hopefully all is well with that in the future. She has three bottles a day (doc said she can have 16-20 oz a day in milk) one in the mid morning, one at nap, and one at bed time. We are trying to mix her formula with whole milk but she doesnt drink them. So we have stopped. But I would encourage you to do that. Half formula, half milk. Your son will be great when he snacks constantly. I have noticed my daughter gaining weight with this diet. It's wonderful.

Holly28 - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Usually, when you wean your baby you introduce whole milk sort of as a replacement. What I did was I started giving her bottles that were half milk, half formula. From there started replacing particular formula feedings of the day with bottles of milk. Gabby is 15months and now she only gets one bottle of formula in the morning and then a bottle of milk after her nap and another one before bed. Other than that I feed her as I would myself (smaller amounts of course). Whatever we eat, she eats with us. Then, she also has her snacks through the day which is when she gets things like cheerios, raisins, cereal bars etc. Hope this helps.

Averysmommie - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) one thing my pediatrician said to do was start off with 2oz of whole milk or 2% (my lo did not like whole, she perfers 2% which is oked by doctor) and introduce that into an 8oz bottle...youll get the hang of it, thatll let you know if he has any allergies or like mine who's stomach just didn't agree with the whole milk and threw it up profusely...good luck! My lo turned 1 on the 8th of nov. and shes up to 3 oz of milk in her formula bottle!~GoodLuck.

EmmaReed84 - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My son was 1 Nov 11 and he suffers from reflux and was prescribed special milk. I have been very slowly introducin cows milk, at first I gave him one bottle every few days, then increased it to once every day, he is still quite sick on cows milks if we give him too much. At the moment he is still on his formula and has two bottles of cows milk a day and about 2 of formula. I will gradually decrease the formula. I also make up his food inadvance and freeze it so I always have loads of meals made for him. Stew, Roast dinners, Pasta and Bolognese are the easiest. I still also blend them as he only has two bottom teeth lol.

citaly21 - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I agree with all the things thinkpink said. They also make graduate meals that are easy to throw in the microwave and they all come with veggies. My son loves them. My son also eats any and all fruits. I say use the formula you have, two wks. won't hurt him. My son drinks whole milk, sometimes I think too much. Good Luck mama.

thinkpink - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) oh yes and cut up pieces of banana.

thinkpink - 822 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Pasta is great and anything else that he can mash easily with his teeth and gums. We liked those pasta pick ups in the toddler section and gave those to Sully until a month ago. He loved them! I would cut them into smaller pieces. Also mac and cheese or any of those easy lunches that are soft, chicken and rice, turkey noodle, etc. He can also have canned veggies cut up like green beans and carrots or any canned fruits because they are extra soft. Sullivan loved mandarin oranges and peaches! Any meat that you make at home can be shredded for him to self feed and babies love sweet potatoes( i would bake it in the microwave and mash it with butter), mashed potatoes, and squash. At one year old all they need is whole milk because it has the needed fat in it for brain development. I would give him that instead of any juice or water and he loves his milk to this day. Have fun! ;)

5against1 - 823 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) he is old enuf to be eating all his meals with you, so feed him whatever you are eating. and if you r worried about taking him off formula, then move him up to "next step" formula, or maybe 1 pediasure a day.
