My mom just got admitted into the hospital with double pneumonia. She had an upper resp infection before that. She came to my sons birthday party on the 10th and everyone assured me it wasnt contaigous. Then I find out from webmd that it is. My son just got shots on Thursday. He was fine up until today. Now he is just not himself. Very grumpy, diarrhea, sneezing, fever, not wanting 2 eat anything (drinks formula tho)... He was also spitting up yesterday n day before. He stopped doing this months ago. Should I take him to the dr or is it likely all this is from his shots? ps he`s never acted like this from his shots before.

It is usually contagious. I am a pediatric nurse and see alot of kids w/ pnuemonia. Definitely see your doc. It's good that he is still drinking well though!

The great thing about pediatric practices is that they're all about parent education. Mine doesn't even let the receptionist give you an appt until they have a nurse call you back and talk with you about the symptoms. They never turn you away, but they always talk it over first to see what you might be dealing with. They can give you pointers to try while waiting until your appt, and make you feel better prepared to meet your child's needs. Give a call, the sooner the better.

Yes it is ~ not all strains are but some are. We moved into our new home and one boy had it and came to a house party at a neighbors house. 8 people came down with it within a few days. Hubby, my and Stephen all had it and it was horrible!!! It is contagious indeed. Your sons symptoms dont sound like pneumonia, they sound more like the shots or a flu or tummy bug. We all had high fever, chills, cough. Not spit up or diarrhea. (((hugs, hope he feels better soon!))) I would def see doc.
