Hi, im 22 weeks pregnant and my arms keep falling asleep, mostly at night. They go numb, but hurt really, really bad to the point of crying they have a burning splitting pain on top of the numbness.

lisab123 - 819 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My Dr said the numbness was from swelling. I was having a horable shooting pain on my left shoulder. I stopped sleeping on that side and put a pillow behind me while I slept on my right side and wouldnt roll over. I have had really good results from that. It was so painful I could hardly stand it. Good luck. Try sleeping on another side, or like the others said a brace. They have pregnancy pillows that should help also. Good luck

lb71 - 821 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have a much milder form; my dr says pregnancy-related carpal tunnel. She said sometimes we bend our hands into almost palsied positions while we're sleeping (bent harshly at the wrist), and that compresses the nerve and causes the numbness/pain, and she suggested wrist braces to immobilize the wrists through the night. From experience prior to pregnancy (I have a history of wrist issues), the braces do help with the numbness/pain... but personally, I found them very uncomfortable to sleep in, to the point that after a few nights I chose not to wear them anymore. I tried several diff styles too... but just don't like being braced, esp at night. But some ppl don't mind - maybe it would work and be comfortable for you?

shan1222 - 821 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my hands would go numb and pain would shoot up my arms into my back... im a hairstylist so it was more than likely carpal tunnel. now that im not workin it has let up big time... is it just your arms or your hands too?
