2 babies, one room Added: 818 days ago. Added by: dsday19 Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
My son is 19 months, almost 20. I am 22 weeks preggers. This time around we are blessed with a little girl. The only dilemma we have is we live in a two bedroom apt. Moving right now isn`t an option. I know she will stay in our room for the first few months in the bassinet, but I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on how to decorate the room. The room is pretty gender nuetral now, but I would like each to have `their own space`. Something special for each. I don`t want my son to feel like his space his being invaded. I would still like something in the room specifically for the little energy filled boy that he is.

I was in that position for awhile and just shared a room with my daughter. I basically made the living room into my new bedroom but then I got pregnant and moved to a three bedroom. If you have a basement that's decent you can turn that into your room. But if it's impossible then just make it work until you can afford to move.

It sounded like you were asking for decorating ideas. What about one theme that can be carried out in a feminine way on one side, and a masculine way on the other? Here's one: Castle on one side, dragon/knight on the other. Or a pond and meadow theme, with frogs and fish on one side and flowers and butterflies on the other. Or if you want to stay gender neutral, maybe a starry night theme. Sesame Street has a lot of characters and bedding props that can answer to the needs of a baby and also a growing child. It all depends on how much energy & creativity you want to put into the room (Check Target online).

I'm in the same boat! I plan on having unisex furniture and they can have their own individual bedding.

in some states they have laws regarding children sharing bedrooms. it varries state to state. however, i shared a room with my brother growing up (before all the ridiculous laws) and i didnt mind it at all. i would probably keep the baby in my room for awhile just bc i wouldnt want the older one to get woken up and have disrupted sleep, also, i would be afraid the older child may accidently hurt the newborn. i plan on having this baby sleep in my room (his crib is already up and rdy near my bed) until he is ready for a toddler bed. i did the same thing with my first. maybe im just overly paranoid, but ive heard too many stories of older children accidently hurting or killing thier siblings. your son will b around 2 when baby comes i wouldnt let him share a room if i could avoid it until the baby is at least a year old, or no longer in a crib. im just not sure legally at what age they arent allowed to share a room. i think its 5yrs old or 5 years apart whichever comes first. but like i said it varries from state to state. plus how would they really know??

why dont you put them in the same room,i am in my husbands country right now and everyone there has two or three bedrooms and 2 to 4 kids and they all sleep in the same room,my husband grew up with 2 sisters and 1 brother, they had two beds and they all slept in the same room, make sense if you dont have the space,i really dont see a problem with it but others may, hope this helps you out take care and good luck
