No Gender Baby Shower Added: 122 days ago. Added by: Berrymama Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
Not knowing the gender until birth. Wondering what can be done in reference to a baby shower. What are some of you doing or have done in the past with this situation?

We wanted to be surprised with our baby, too. My friends who threw me one of my showers had the theme of "little lamb" and had plush lambs throughout the house, little soaps in the shape of sheep as favors, and even a white cake done as a lamb. I got everything off my registry over the course of two showers (lots of whites, cream, yellows, and greens), and the lovely thing was that I wasn't inundated with pink or blue! Instead of a ton of clothing, I received the stuff I really needed.

Did you mean a theme for the shower? If so.. a friend of mine had a bumble bee theme party that was yellow and green, very cute. She did also get a lot of things that were white, yellow and green too, like the other ladies said. Plus you can request diapers and books instead of clothing.

You can ask for toys, and the bigger things that you need rather than clothes, or get a registry so you can pick out the gender neutral stuff you would like. Another great idea that I've heard used in subsequent baby showers is food. To help you out after you have baby, people make freezeable food and bring it for you to fill your freezer, along with the usual baby games etc.

No worries. Just inform everyone you don't know the gender and they will get it! Years ago, no one knew the gender they were having and when it came to baby showers - they got lots of yellow and green things! Don't sweat it - people will use their head! Good luck to you! xox
