I just had my son 4 days ago and my boobs are hard and hurt. Also starting to leak is there anything i can do to help them dry up fast or stop soaking up my bra. Im only bottle feeding too so i dont have a breast pump to pump it out.

waiting for miracle number 2 - 814 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Totally agree with RJean below cabbage leaves in your bra does not sound very nice but believe me it does work I done it with my first child and what a relief it gave :-)

AliciaTTCBaby2 - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had warm showers and made myself leak milk for relief and I didn't produce anymore, you only produce how much is taken out a tiny bit here and there to relieve the pain and fullness won't produce more

nutnut - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i was told if you pump or try to express them, its going to produce more milk, and take even longer for you to dry up. my mother took pills to dry them up but that was in the 70s not sure if they do that anymore. when i had my daughter i was told to turn my back in the shower bc the hot water will make more milk, to wear tighter sports type bras and nursing pads. basically just deal with it. =) hang in there its gets better.

RJean - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You can put chilled cabbage leaves over your breasts (with a hole cut out for the nipple). They can provide comfort for engorgement and if you leave them on for a while they can also decrease your milk supply.

PregMeag - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have a couple of friends who chose not to breastfeed, and they swear that eating cabbage dries up your milk supply. No kidding.

ProudMommy010 - 815 days ago Thanks Ladies.

mariettap - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) This first week is a doozy. You'll get through it, though! Treat yourself tenderly and give it time. It feels like forever when you're sleep deprived, but this is temporary. The pressure, such as the sports bra, is what gives your body the signal to decrease production. All women get it, whether bottle or breast feeding. It's how your body figures out how much is enough. Let your breasts experience this pressure (=discomfort, I know) and your breasts will slow their milk production and it will dwindle down to nothing.

MummyLJ - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm with Robin and Austin... releasing the milk makes them produce more. I bottle fed both babies, and had to wear a sports bra 24/7 for a month after each birth. If they're really sore, soak a sports bra in icy water, and put it on. You have to hang out in the bathroom for awhile, lol, but it's such a relief!

RobinG - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Wear a tight firm bra 24/7 (even to bed). Dont stand under warm water if possible in shower. Wear breast pads til they dry up. Dont touch your nipples. I leaked sadly for a month and half although the heaviest was only about 3 weeks. If you let warm water hit them in shower it causes let down and will encourage you to produce milk so dont do that. Warm shower is for those who are breast feeding and want to reduce engorgement. If you express the milk same thing, your body will think you want the milk. Saldy you just have to bear the discomfort til it dries up.

Austin::and::Alexs::Momma - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm pretty sure they say NOT to release the milk or it'll keep reproducing...

~ mum to 9 ~ - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Caffine dries it up. And the doctor can give you tablets to dry it up too.

AliciaTTCBaby2 - 815 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Have a nice warm shower and let the water hit them and just put abit of presure on ur boobs, if u push them in the right spot milk should come out easily and that'll relieve them for a couple hours.

ProudMommy010 - 816 days ago Ohh okay thanks.

oliviad27 - 816 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hmm, mine leaked for two weeks after I had my son. There's really nothing you can do except but some pads in your bra..they make some special kind but you can just cut a panty liner in half and stick it in your bra (cheaper). For the pain, i just squeezed them a little bit till it felt a little better and took a hot shower..it helps some.
