Hey Ladies! I will be having a c-section this time around and am very nervous. Please give me any advice you can about what I should do and what to expect. Thank you soooo much!

BellaFuoco - 770 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My biggest suggestion would be to bend at the knee. Since you have an incision in the binki area you want to avoid bending at the waist. When you pee, they will give you a water quirting bottle to spray while you pee, dont forget to do that because it can be slightly uncofortable if you forget. Other then that, nothing to really be nervous about....mine was an emergancy and it turned out extreamly well.

AubreyP - 770 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Spinal block is different. With and epidural they leave a catheder in your back to keep putting medicine into you. With a spinal block they just put all the stuff in at once and it wears off after a few hours or so. With my 1st c-section I only bled a week maybe 2. With my second I bled over a month...but becuase i was on blood thinners. I think I bled less because after they take the baby out, the clean out your uterus. Still everybody is different and some have bleeding longer than others. I agree with panda that the hardest part is getting in and out of bad at first. It is really ackward. Make sure when you are in the hospital to keep up with the pain pills...it is best to stay ahead of the pain! Best to you!!

MLBGRL3 - 770 days ago Thanks everybody! I will relax! lol I have had surgery on my stomach area before but it only needed 6 staples. I have never had a spinal block....I think! lol Is that another name for an epidural? I have not had that either.

meecob - 770 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Any surgery is scary...but seriously once you hear that beautiful scream, nothing else will even matter :) It's a common procedure - that's what I kept telling myself to keep calm. I wish you a wonderful anesthesiologist, because I think that's what made mine so easy. Congrats on the new babe :)

melissa1404 - 771 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) relax!!!! thats the best advice i can give you. i wasnt really that nervous at all and i think it really paid off getting your spinal block. i had mine at 8pm at night and i was walking around the next day. and dont lift anything when you get home. i learnt my lesson the hard way when i did too much and my wound opened and got infected. youll be fine!!!

KFinTX - 771 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had one and the best advice I can give is to switch to a vegetarian diet a few days before and fast for the last 12-18 hours. Reason being is that being blocked up is going to happen and the veggie diet and fasting would help. The not going was worse than the actual pain because needing to go after abd surgery is aweful.

desiree79 - 771 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes unfortuneatley you do still bleed after a c-section. My only advise to you (I have had three c-sections) is get up and start walking around a little asap. I had my last baby at 3pm in the afternoon and was up walking around the very next morning before breakfast had even arrived and although it hurts you get better heaps faster... One thing I will warn you about cause no one told me before my first c-section is the first time you do get up after your c-section you can sometimes have a big gush of blood... I ended up standing in a puddle.. Sorry for too much information... Just thought I would tell you.. Goodluck.. You will be fine...

MLBGRL3 - 771 days ago Is there any bleeding in the "lady region" after a c-section birth. Sorry if that is graphic. After my daughter, vaginal birth, I bled a lot and for 2 months! Thanks Ladies!

pandaspenguin - 771 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My C section was much better then i was expecting, it didn't hurt, the feeling of having the baby removed was different, just like a pulling sensation then she was out. the worst part was trying to get in and out of bed to see anna. I found it a bit rough to get the bottom half of my clothes on, but other than that, it wasn't bad.. they give you pain killers if you need them, which I found really helpful, espcially since they like making you walk asap.

abbyquiet - 771 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) oh wow that was long. lol.

abbyquiet - 771 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had my second c-section 6 or 7 weeks ago. this time it was planned and i was pretty nervous like you going into it. it was sooo much different than labouring for hours and hours and not getting anywhere. i fasted the night before no nothing to eat or drink for a period of time. went in that morning to fill out paperwork. waited a while. they took me in the back had me change and pee in a cup. they weighed me and brought me to a prep room. put in an iv (which in my opinion was the worst part since the nurse was unexperienced and kept messing up) and took blood. they hooked me up to a machine to check for contractions (which oddly enough i was actually having). then after a while they sent my husband to get changed and wheeled me in the back to set up my spinal block (i was terriffied about that but it wasn't so bad. it's quick and rather than one big poke... it's several smaller ones) after they do the block, they told me to lay down on the table... and at that point i had to move quickly because the block starts fast and you start losing feeling after that real quck. my husband came back, and they talked me through the surgery. i couldn't feel anything because of the spinal block. after that it's kindof hazy. there was no pain at all. after the surgery they shown me my baby and took him into the nursery to run a few tests. after they wheeled me into the recovery room they brought him back to me to nurse and bond and stuff. i couldn't feel my legs still yet, and anytime i tried to lift my head at all i got woozy. they came back to check on me and help me with latching on and whatnot, i don't remember what does it but you'll get this alkaline-metallic taste in your mouth most likely and they gave me this little sponge on a stick that tasted like mint. so they'd give me those to suck on to take care of the taste. no water or food for a while still yet, i think that night or the next morning. when i could bend my legs they brought me to my room along with my baby. the spinal blocks pain for 12 hours they say, but for me it lasted like 2 days, then i was in more serious pain. but because i'd already had a c-section it was like my body already knew what to do and how to heal... it was sooo much easier. everything was easier, from walking to showering to using the bathroom. it all came easier. and now i'm feeling much better. hope this helps. it'll go fine. don't get too freaked out about it. :)
