Im about 9 weeks pregnant and my lower back has started to hurt in the last 3 weeks but ONLY after standing and working long shifts at work. I noticed today while taking my kids trick or treating that my tailbone was hurting everytime i sat down in the car. It got progressively worse over a couple hours and now the pain when I sit is unbearable...It had me in tears! I`m lying on my side which is the only comfotable position right now (or standing) I`m wondering if anyoone has ever experienced this before so early in pregnancy and any clue as to what it miht be? Should I go to the er or wait and see my family doctor..? thank you

I got a wedge cushion at a back store that is made of memory foam and has an empty space for your tailbone... this way the tailbone is suspended and there is no pressure on it. It does wonders! I was just like you, and now I feel MUCH MUCH MUCH better! It only hurts when I don't use the cushion for a long time... it was pretty expensive $70, but I think it is worth it... and they have different kinds, I am sure you can find one that will be good for you. This is the one I got http://www.healthyback.com/products/Mccartys-sacroease/Mccartys-sacro-ease-wedge-ease/43 and I recommend it. BTW, I am a teacher, and I am on my feet all day, I literally walk around with the cushion, so that I can use it whenever I sit down. Good luck!

Mom-in-the-making - 1066 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had extreme pain in my tailbone from the week before I found out I was pregnant. I thought something went wrong since I broke my tailbone a few years back and it never really got back to normal. But it was because of the hormones that prepares your hips/pelvis for the baby. That was what was causing the discomfort. It got better after a while. I am now 30 weeks along and depending on how my baby positions himself I sometime get the most HORRIFIC pain from just above my tailbone, down into my leg. That is the sciatic nerve. As ChristieBee said, there's not much that can be done... I just try not to over exert myself and I try to lie down as often as possible. Hang in there!

Katmoma - 1066 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) to be honest the only clue on this is that hormone when your pregnant that softens stuf down ther in the hips and joints preparing your body to carry baby..

ChristieBee86(BLUE) - 1066 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) PS I think if you look on the 9 week or somewhere around there little information it will say something about sciatic nerve pain.

ChristieBee86(BLUE) - 1066 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It could be your sciatic nerve. At exactly 9 weeks mine started to flare up..and it went on and off until about 13 weeks..then went away..now at 23 weeks it's coming back. Mine was so bad that I nearly would fall when it would shoot up in pain. You could ask your doctor, but mine just said there isn't much I can do..it's because your growing uterus sits right on top of that nerve and can some time put pressure on it which causes those sharpe pains. Good luck I had no relief but it did get better!

farramh - 1066 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would go to the doctor and be seen. It could actually be hormones that are causing the issue from over doing it. I have terrible back issues but when pregnant the hormones cause havic for me. Good luck.
