Wondering if any of you ladies can suggest any videos, documentaries or websites for us. My bf and I are not going to be able to attend a childbirth class (the only ones available do not work with our schedules) so I am trying to find some resources for us to go over at home. We are first timers(obviously) and our goal is an all natural birth. Anything about dealing with pain, ways for HIM to support me... anything at all really. I am hoping to find a video I can just pop on for him -*cough* I mean US - to watch. Thanks ladies!

Otherwise can your healthcare professionals advise? If you can consider it you could ask for a 1 on 1 lesson with a doula or midwife....even if you didn't want them there for the day they might be about to provide you with good advice on support during the birth. Many of my friends have had a natural delivery....however sometimes when things have gone wrong they feel that at the time it has been difficult to concentrate on consent for epidural etc because they have been worried/in pain/everything has happened quickly, so I would also advise you ask your healthcare provider for details of analgesia so if, say, on the day you need c section or you just change your mind that you are in a better position for an informed decision. Also induced labours tend to have stronger contractions for longer so if you want to go natural try to avoid induction as long as it is safe to do so. Oh, also, over here in the UK the midwife lead studies suggest that water births are the second best form of pain relief (epidural being the top) so if you can access a delivery suite with appropriate facilities then you could try that. And I don't know how natural you want to go, but a friend of mine who had an almost natural delivery (just a small amount of entenox gas at the end) said a TENS machine got her through all the contractions. Good luck x

We are planning an at home water birth, btw. I don't know if they might also have videos in this series, but at least the book is a good place to start and does talk quite a bit about pain management. Good luck!
