Im 21 weeks pregnant and Ive been sleeping on my sides to try to avoid sleeping on my back, as they say. But some nights I wake up with extreme pain in both my hips, doesnt matter which side I lay on. I sleep with a pillow between my knees but some nights it seems to not matter. Any advice?

It started around 16 weeks and lasted the rest of my pregnancy until I delivered at 38 weeks. I used the pregnancy boppy pillow and had it under my stomach and between my legs and if I was laying on my right side for example I would have my back and left leg behind my right leg and for some reason that angle helped a little but really there is not much to do for it. Sorry your going through this and I totally feel sorry for you!

I am propped up on 3 big pillows so I'm sitting halfway up but it's so much more comfy to me than trying to sleep on my sides. It was murdering my lower back and hips. My doc was fine with me staying on my back as long as I am propped up like that.

That can take some of the weight off your bottom hip. The only other thing that helps me is sleeping on the couch when the hip pain gets bad, as having the back of the couch along with the seat there to support more of my weight seems to help.

lilyxox19 - 486 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had this during my pregnancy. I just kept rotating what side I slept on. Since I peed so much at night, every time I got up to pee I would go back to sleep on the other side. Also by the end of the pregnancy I couldn't sit up from laying down without getting super pain in the groin area (i had to have my husband help sit me up to pee at night). Sleeping in a sofa chair worked for me. Lame I know. But I didn't have any hip pain or groin pain when getting up, and it helped with the heartburn

jjrhodes - 486 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I bought a wedge pillwo with my last pregnancy so that my body could lay back on it and take some of the pressure off my hips and it seemed to help a lot. You can also use a body pillow. Towards the end of my pregnancy though, nothing seemed to help much
