what can i expect to happen to my tattoo on my stomach? i have a pretty large tattoo under my bellybutton that crosses almost my whole stomach. im just now starting to really show at 19w3d and so far so good but how crazy is it gonna look when i get bigger/after the baby is born? i put lotion alot and as of now i dont have any stretch marks but im scared that my tat is gonna look terrible :(

peachys72@yahoo.com - 403 days ago i dont think i can really base anything on my mom...she is extremely tall and slim with small curves (along with the rest of my family) and i am 5'4" and curvy. im just gonna cross my fingers and keep hope alive. thanks everyone

Each pregnancy I only got a couple of small stretch marks and each pregnancy they were in a different spot! (1st on boobs only, 2nd on lower back and 3rd lower tummy) I only put cream on speratically

mrshelen - 403 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Charming! Lol

blueberie_123@hotmail.com - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think it depends on your skin after you had your baby it might just go back and the tattoo will be fine you may need touch ups but just keep putting lotion on it and hope that it remains shape, I have two that go down my stomach from my sides and I'm currently 36 weeks and 5 days pregnant and luckly they haven't stretched bad but my partner is an ex tattooist and he said it all depends on your skin and how well it stretches back to shape. tattoos are really unpredicatable and you can't do much about it until the baby is born and u see the result. :) :)

Kristy Rose - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Mrs Helen thats not true at all .. my mum and sister never got them, but I did.

brittany l - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Mrshelen, that is not true. My mom never got stretch marks, neither did my grandmother. But I got a few dark ones on my sides, and my sister got stretch marks pretty bad.

mrshelen - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Ask your mother if she got any stretch marks. If you have a sister with children, ask her too. Stretch marks really are genetic. If your mother /grandmother / sisters dont have them, its unlikely that you will develop them. If it turns out they never had them, you can relax in the knowledge that ou will most probally be OK! Good luck

I had no stretchmarks until after my first baby was born, then when my tummy started to go down I got a good dose of them right below my belly button... luckily I don't have a tattoo there, it might look a bit jellified now... some people literally snap back into shape without stretchmarks, fingers crossed you are one of them :)

mommyharts - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used lotion from the day I found out till the day I had her & I still got stretch marks, lotion is just gonna help keep your skin moisturized not prevent stretch marks. I don't have any tatoos & I especially would never get one on my belly for the fact that, I one day wanted to have kids. Most people I know that had tatoos in that area & got pregnant, it got stretched out. Maybe you'll just have to get it re touched up afterwards..It all depends on how big your belly gets & if your skin has good elasticity :)

Thumpersmommy - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I kept my belly lubed up and applied palmer's cocoa butter and oil to it 3 times a day religiously and tried everything I could to not get stretch marks. The first 2/3 I was good...and then I earned my tiger stripes in my third trimester--regardless of everything that I did to prevent it. I know a woman who had a tattoo around her belly button and after the birth of her first child it stretched to look like a giant blob. Not trying to scare you, just being honest. It all depends what your body type and genetic predisposition is. Maybe you will get lucky!! Personally, I have 5 tattoos, but I was too scared even years ago to get one on my abdomen for this very reason. lol Good luck!

xoxoMOMMYOF2BOYSxoxo - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have one on my stomach in the safe. I got big but it never stretched that big. It went down after I had my son both times. And now pregnant with my third son and its still perfect.

frenchie23 - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't have a tattoo but I took great care of my tummy while pregnant with my first but still got stretch marks after 36-37 weeks :( very little tho and they never really got dark... You can't hardly see them! So just do the best you can, I oil My tummy up 2-3 times a day, and you might be a lucky one who doesn't get any ;)

peachys72@yahoo.com - 404 days ago i love olive oil for everything...and coconut oil too..i use both in my hair and try to get lotions and oils with that stuff..hopefully i can avoid the stretch marks...thanks for the advice!!

ceandrusis (BLUE) - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't have a tattoo on my tummy but I think the key will be preventing stretch marks. I know they say you can't prevent them but I don't believe that. I think if you keep your tummy lubed up everyday for the last half of your pregnancy, you should be okay. I am 33 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and used olive oil everyday after my shower (yes, olive oil at the advice of my grandmother who never got stretch marks with 3 kids) and I haven't gotten any stretch marks with any of my pregnancies. it might be a little flabby afterwards but if you diet/exercise, your belly should pretty much go back to normal or close to it.

rican princess1029 - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have a tatt on my stomach also. I was 22 when I had my first child and nothing happen to the tatt. It just looked really big when my stomach grew! LOL, but afterwards it was fine. Just stay with the lotion and you will be ok. I am pregnant now not due till Sept 21 so hopefully it still stays ok after this second chld!

mummy2lucas - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I dont think its going to end up looking too great if you get stretch marks,i didnt have any till 34 weeks when it looked like tiger claws had scratched the bottom of my stomach,i had 2 fairly small moles and 1 chickenpox scar, which have all got stretch marks through them and are at least double the size :( i also have my fiancee's name very small slightly lower than my hip bone it now doesnt look great got 3 small stretch marks through it,i think if you are lucky and dont get stretch marks then after a few months of letting your belly get pretty much back to normal it should look fine, but with stretch marks i definitely dont think you should hold your breath for the tattoo to look anywhere near back to normal.hope this helps and sorry couldnt be more optimistic :/

jamie86 - 404 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think it will depend on how big you get but I honestly don't think it will look too pretty afterwards. Most of my stretch marks are on the bottom part of my stomach and I didn't start getting them until I was 8 months with my first. Everyone is different though so you may not get as big as I did and you may not get any stretch marks.
