My friend took evening primrose oil orally and did vaginal insert also. She had her baby 2 days later. Anyone that has tried this how many mg did you take there are 500 mg and 1000mg. Did you insert it vaginally also?

It helped soften my cervix and help me dilate with my 1st, I just took 3 a day orally. Then with my 2nd I would insert one vaginally at night and it didn't do anything for me. This time I will be taking 2 orally and one vaginally to see if it helps this time.

I've used it for 2 of my pregnancies.. it does not induce labor but it does ripen the cervix and has everything to do with the speed of your labor when it actually starts.

Thanks mamagris any info is helpful. From what I have read it does not induce labor but it does soften and dilate the cervix if you are ready.... only if your ready. I wonder should I insert just one vaginally? Maybe I could use it as a lube before sex?

There is primrose oil in my prenatal vitamin..It is a great supplement during pregnancy and I understand that increasing the volume can help induce labor, I tried with my first to drink tea (3 cups a day) plus a supplement. I don't remember the exact dosaging so if I were you I would seek out a herbal professional in your area, usually a chiropractor or an acupunturist has a background in this. I had used the advice of my acupunturist for this and it didn't help with getting me into labor-so everyone is different. Good luck hope this helps a little.
