My son was going to the potty for me some of the time. His dad tried it will him a couple of hours one day and he went 80% of the time. Now my son will not want to sit on the potty for a long time for me. Do you think it`s still early to be potty training him? I would love for his dad to take him all the time but his dad is rarely home and he is his dad just wants to sit around the house. Any idea on how to train my son to go potty?

I let him sit as long as he wants and when he wants to get up I let him! But I try to time how often he potty! Mine is going every 20 to 30 mins so I take him that often! When he potty I tell him good job you boo boo or good job you pee pee so he can also learn the difference between the two cause he calls both pee pee! But I have learned that trying to use pull ups make it harder for him cause its like he is looking at the pull ups like pampers and won't even try to go when he has them on so I let him wear underpants! He a feel the pee run down his legs and then go to the potty but its a lot of cleaning those underpants but I know in the end it will be worth it! I said a lot don't know if any of it helped u but hope it did!

angie2008 - 344 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) How long are you trying to get him to sit on the potty for? You have to remember that a 21 month old doesn't have a good attention span. I think it's kind of early for potty training actually. I do think it's time to get him familiar with the potty and ask him occasionally if he has to go or have him sit on the potty. If he goes- great and celebrate but if not- no worries. My son turned 2 in March and we are introducing him to the potty, he peed on it the other night for the first time. good luck!
