If you are renting your house do you do your own renovations? Like painting rooms eyc or do you ask the owner to do it?

kristy rose - 335 days ago Hmmm .. grumpyangel515 - you got me wrong ... Some Landlords allow you to paint & stuff when you move it. It saves them having to do it after you go. Our landlord is wonderful & told us to do what we liked. we've been here 6 years now 7 he loves us :)) lol .. the only thing we asked him for was a new hot water service when our last one blew up. Apart from that, we have done everything ourselves :)

grumpyangel515 - 335 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) being a property manager, i would say ask permission first, many are fine if you do it yourself they may even supply the paint etc. I look after over 200 doors and if someone wishes to paint, we will supply the paint so it matches all our colors so if after we need to do repairs it is easier. although we do not offer a discount for doing the work. Good luck, depending on the condition they may do the work for you as well=)

We have been renting his house for over five years and he has not checkef once. We can keep as many pets as we want, etc as long as he gets our check. We are responsible for everything. We do anything we want. I have painted a bright pink nursery. We repaired, changed faucets, painted, etc. It is our house for the most part. We are just going to buy it when our credit is polished up. But I typically rent from people like this: we pay for repairs, don't complain, make our payments and do what we want in return.

If it's anything that changes the place (construction) then what frenchie23 is talking about is great- getting free rent or a discount for the improvements. When I was in college my roommates and I ripped up a carpet- off of the stairs and the living room. It was absolutely disgusting and there was a beautiful hard wood floor underneath!! We got permission & no discount because it was for US- not her... the carpet was ruining our socks. :P

frenchie23 - 336 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) We have been doing all the renos here at where we rent but our landlord pays for materials AND for labor ( just takes money off rent) even just for jobs like painting... When we first moved into this place it needed so much work so he gave us a great deal and told us to do whatever we want as long ad it improves the place... Lemme me tell ya, my fiancé got a few months of free rent already lol but this place is lookin pretty good now :P
