Is this NORMAL?!?!? Added: 322 days ago. Added by: Sweetbabylove Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
Okay ladies. I am in misery! I need your output and expeience stories here. So Last friday I went to the doctor for an appointment, not dilated nor effaced, baby was floating. Tuesday I started feeling alot of pressure and back pain, that day and 2 days before I started loosing a lot of mucus, good right things are starting to loosen up. So when the doctor checked me I was 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. Great news, things are progressing with me being only 38 weeks and 3 days at that point. Then this happened. Yesterday I was feeling even more pressure, It hurt to walk, also I was feeling crampy, really crampy! Then a shocker came, I had a gush come out of me as I sat up off the couch, another gush as I was standing in the bathroom doorway, followed my a great amount of pressure. Story short I went in to the hospital, the RN did the swab and the color come out dark green? What does this mean, she told me it wasnt the color they would like to see.. was it amniotic fluid or not? I was then having contractions, they started to get pretty intense, until she gave me a muscle relaxer! Now what is this used for? Cause my contractions gradually slowed down then stopped, plus they gave me a sleeping pill, I havent slept in the past 3 nights(other then lastnight cause of the sleeping pill), then the doctor checked me and said that I wasn`t even dilated or anything, tuesday I was just told I was, so whats going on? Can you help me, because today again there is tons of pressure, I hurt, my stomach constantly feels like I just got done doing situps and my hips are getting sharp pains, I feel like I need to pee and can`t. Please help me understand what`s going on!

was the swab green because of the chemical reaction or was the 'gush of fluid' green? If you feel like you are in labour, then go back to L&D and ask to get hooked up to the monitor or checked again. Usually they don't let women labour for more than 24 hours with broken water without speeding things up with pitocin. ANd the fluid you dropped is either pee or amniotic fluid sooo. I think you need to go back to the hospital.

i am the same as emmyslittlegirl when they broke my water with my daughter the amniotic fluid was green because there was meconium in my water. My baby had pooped inside me, it didnt cause any issues with my baby or me Praise GOD! but like others have stated if your water has broken you are at risk for infection after a certain amount of time. Please go get checked again or at least ask for clarification.

It's not what I experienced with DD. When my water broke they swabbed and it was positive for amniotic fluid. I have no idea what the colour was though. But if your water broke they wouldn't let you go more than 12 hours (I believe it is) before they intervene to make sure baby has enough fluid to breath. But honestly, I have no idea what is going on. Sorry. Ask your doc for clarification.

I'm not a 100% sure what's going on but when my daughter was born and my waters broke they were green and that was because she had pooed her self from stress. I would be finding out what that gush was. Because as I read your post it sounded as u broke your waters and the green was because the baby was in stress but if that was the case u would think they would keep u there till u deliver. Go back for sure. Even if it is to the midwife or doctor u have been seeing through out your pregnancy.

I've been following your posts since the first one. I am highly confused with your timeline! Oh well, it isn't normal. I go back to telling you that I think you have an infection. The muscle relaxer helped because your body is stressing. They gave you a sleeping pill because you told them you haven't slept in so long. It's important to get sleep. I would seriously go to your doctor and stress what you are feeling and what you have been telling us. It's possible to regress with stress and movement of your baby. The end is so close. You'll have your baby before long!! I know you're feeling miserable, but do your best to relax!! You're not going to be able to relax once bubba is here! Best wishes, mamma.

That doesn't sound right to me hun! I would go back to the hospital ASAP... Especially they didn't tell you if your water broke but told you the color of the swab they took wasn't normal, I would ask questions.... I hope everything is Okay, keep us posted x

I am guessing you started labour and the staff at the hospital stressed you out and caused you to close back up again. I would be concerned about the green and would definitely go back to the hospital. wondering why they would give you a sleeping pill.

I think you need to go back get to a doctor or hospital and get checkout out again, that doesn't sound right to me. Did they not explain what the liquid was? It sounds like possible amniotic fluid, but like they said the green colour doesn't sound right at all. Your pains and stuff sound like labour could be near. I'm sorry I'm not helping much but I would definitely go get checked again and make sure they explain properly what's going on. Good luck
