Hello ladies, my son is 3 months old. I was just wondering when u can start giving them things like prune and apple juice and water in a bottle? He`s exclusively breastfed since birth.

kalma2010 - 307 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Not until 6 months but it is much better to wait till a year. Breastmilk is all they need for the first year of life.

skydivedoc - 310 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Breast milk is the perfect food! There's no need to give them water when you're breastfeeding. I'm assuming (as the others have) that you may be having an issue with your baby being constipated... don't forget that what you eat goes into your breastmilk so you can always eat what you want your baby to have. My daughter will be 2 in a few months and I've never given her juice. For me it makes no sense- it's a lot of sugar and doesn't offer enough nutritional benefit. If she KNEW about juice & asked me for it I suppose I'd give her some (cut with water) but I see no reason to introduce it to her. I'm not judging those who give their children juice- I just choose not to. I've just had my 2nd baby 2 months ago- my daughter went back to breastfeeding when he was a month old. She was drinking unsweetened almond milk but now the only thing she wants in a cup is water. I'm sure it's because my milk is sweeter than almond milk.

jesikahh - 310 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) u can start giving cereal and mild foods like prune or apple as of 4 months but doctors recommend waiting until 6 months to reduce the risk of obesity, it really depends on when your baby shows signs of wanting more. as for juice and water its best to wait until 6 months or later and in small amounts

lilyxox19 - 310 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) 6 months. But if he is gets constipated and its been a couple of days, then the doctor usually says to give 2oz of prune or apple juice to get things moving. But thats a special circumstance. Other than that, 6 months :)

jab-tj*blue* - 310 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) 6 months

LovelyYoungMama - 310 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) as long as you sterilize the water he can have water now, but for juice I would wait for 6 months unless your doctor says otherwise.

lisseo - 310 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) 6 months at the earliest is general rule of thumb.
