Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations/ advice with going gluten free. I haven`t been diagnosed but I`m going to try a gluten free diet for a few weeks to see if my belly symptoms go away. thanks ladies :)

Luckily, thanks to so many people having Celiac's, there are a LOT of gluten free things out there. You can even get gluten free bread! (Although, it's expensive). My mom is on a gluten free diet, so she just avoids pasta, bread, etc. Other than that it's ok. I think it just takes a little bit of adjusting. She has eggs for breakfast, and you can buy gluten free waffles and pancake mix. Then she has fruits and veggies and yogurt, cheese and crackers (gluten free of course), nuts, and rice with veggies for dinner. She is also a peanut butter lover, so she has peanut butter with rice cakes. The crackers that you can find are actually really good, and I buy them for my kids now too! Good luck!

I tried a gluten free diet a month or so back or a couple of weeks to see if my symtoms vanished which they did. I started eating it again though. It was very hard cutting out wheat, barley and rye. Checking every packet before eating anything to see if it contained gluten or could have been contaminated with gluten. Even some things I didn't think would contain gluten surprised me. The gluten free products are very expensive and I found it easier to make my own to help with the expense. Just so you know if you are planning on being tested for celiac disease then you need to be eating gluten regularly in your diet for them to be able to test for it. I'm planning on being tested before I go back onto a gluten free diet again. Good luck

I had a student that was on a gluten free diet. He could eat corn or rice things, fruits, veggies and dairy. He could not have any wheat products. Basically he cut out nearly all the grains food group. The gluten free products are very expensive. They are made mostly with rice and potato flours. We had a gluten free cake and brownies once and besides being denser than usual, they taste just as good. Good luck!
