Discomfort: sciatica

Discomfort:OMG!!!! First it started as numbness or tingling from the top of my right buttocks down my my thigh. Now thing tingling has changed to just plain pain in my ass. It hurts to sit, lay down, walk.....everything I do because the pressure is constant on my nerve.

I have had this for a while now. I'm 19 weeks. I never had it with my first two pregnancies, but boy I think I'm making up for it now! I get hubby to massage my lower back for a while and I'm good to go.

I have something called Sciatica. Alot of women get it while pregnant but mine has just worsened with pregnancy. It is a stabbing pain above your buttcheek and sometimes reaches your toes...

I had the same problem, I went to the Dr. and he said that it was Severe Sacral joint (I think that's how you spell it) they sent me to physical therapy to get some advice and to straighten my hips, but he also advised to put cold compress on it for 15 mins at a time

it is your growing baby now that u are 33/34/35 which ever weeks you will feel that alot! this is my second pregnancy...it is normal...i take it this is your first time pregnancy??? the weight of your baby is growing and growing plus your weight and the fluids, extra.....nothing to worry about...the more you concentrate on that pain the harder it will be on labout, try to take ur mind off of it, sit relax your day is near or has come.....(comment alittle late)

Discomfort:I have this pain that shoots down lower back (almost the hip) into my right buttock. I has brought me to my knees if I dont pay attention to the signs. And it is a constant ache, unless I get lots of rest.
Treatment or advice:See a chiropractor. My hips are out of line and he adjusts me and brings me some relief. Also, I am a hairdresser, so sometimes I stand in one place for long periods of time, that does not help. So, when i can I try to walk a bit and keep moving

sciatic nerve! my little boy loves sitting on it. as soon as he moves it goes away but it sucks. especially when I'm at work on my feet all day.

I am so glad to find out that is experienced by more women than me! I was really scared at first thinking I could never exercise again. The pain is unbearable and sometimes I can't walk and if I do the pain takes my breath away. I was told that after the baby is born, that strengthening the muscle will stop the pain of the sciatic nerve.

I had this pain also before i got pregnant, my doctors blamed it on a spazed out muscle. They recommended stretching, and bending to make the muscle stronger. Maybe it will help you out too!

Definately sciatica... I actually had this before I became pregnant due to a back injury. But an above poster seems right on. With all that weight of your baby and uterus and everything else going on, that nerve gets pressed and can cause such incredible discomfort. I mean PAIN!!

It could also be your hips getting ready for birth. They get a little wiggly and it makes everything in you back off balance.

Its a pinched nerve also called a sciatica. It should go away after the baby is born. Alot of pregnant women get his including me. You are not alone. My doctor told me to use a heating pad when it gets bad. Just remember to slowly get up from a seated postion. Also take breaks and stretch if you are walking alot.

Yeah I have it bad, to where I can barely walk sometimes. I only get it when I sit for too long or I'm up and walking and moving around for to long. I found out its my sciatic nerve and its the weight baring down on that nerve. I'm going to try a maternity belt to see if that stops the pain or at least make me more comfortable.

same here, felt that before... not fun at all. i took a tylenol for that once, it helps but best is to just sit down and relax and not stand up too much or for too long.

I too have been experiencing this same pain! I haven't talked to my doctor but I have done some research on the net about it. They say that it can relate to the hormones released as early as the first trimester, which is called Relaxin. Relaxin is to help relax muscles and ligaments preparing us for labor, which unforunately, can also cause pains such as this because it makes our muscles slightly weaker. You could talk to your doctor if the pain is unbearable, but they say that sometimes simply sleeping with a pillow between your legs and relieve pressure and help with the pains. There are a few other recommendations, such as sleeping in a slightly upright position on your back so as not to have too much pressure on one hip or the other, also massage and chiropratic visits have been known to make a difference for some women. Good luck and I surely hope this helps.

Discomfort:It's a sharp pain that starts at my lower back and runs down by butt check sometimes all the way down my leg. It isn't constant, but when it does happen it's almost hard to walk. Is that normal?

I'm only 12 weeks and I've had the same thing for about 2 weeks now, sometimes so bad I can barely walk, and can't roll over or get out of bed... will speak to the doc about it next week

Discomfort:I'm guessing its because where my daughter is laying on my right side but right above my butt cheek is this unbarring stabbing pain. It hurts THE worst after i lay down for a while and go to walk and put pressure on my right leg! I almost cry. Sometimes i can't even walk until i breath for a while
