i get a dull achy but very strong pain just under the ribs on the left side after i eat greasy foods. it feels like a gallbladder pain but on the wrong side.
aching ribs, probably caused by uterus pushing against ribs
Treatment or advice:
No treatment. The discomfort lasts for a day or so, then goes away for a while before it returns.

Jenny, your pain at 20 weeks there in your ribs is probly gas..im 32 weeks and she definetly likes to keep her feet up in my rib cage. Very uncomfy and you can def. tell a difference in the gas pain and the baby pains. Tums help!
painful ribs - Friday, Jul 13th
Am 36 weeeks pregnant and have had these pains on and off from about week 28. Some days they are so bad I feel like I have broken ribs and only standing up or lying flat will ease the pain. Have been told by physio that unfortunately delivery is the only way this pain will go ( pain is due to ligaments softening between ribs and ribcage stretching out), although smaller meals, warm baths and different positions help a bit.

After a larger meal, I get a very sharp pain in this location (probably just a couple inches to the left of this spot). I hurts so bad. Could it be my stomach? I am 20 weeks.
Severe pain between and around my ribs on the left hand side. Feels like the are being pried open... but my uterus hasn't reached my ribs yet! I've started to develop numbness around the ribs.
Worse after eating and after sitting.
Treatment or advice:
Bed rest and loosen bra. Avoid sitting as much as possible. Avoid large meals.

I'm only 20 weeks but have had bad pain on my right side of the bottom of my ribs. I wouldn't think they're related but I was actually constipated. As soon as I 'went' the pain went away. Ate lots of fruit around 3-4 a day, lots of water and fiber cereal.

I have this too! Got it around week 28 (now at 30), and it's now on both sides, but not quite as severe as long as I'm not moving. All the getting in and out of bed at night really aggravates it. Did your doctor give you bedrest? I sure wish mine would!
I have been told so many things by so many doctors. They've even prescribed Zantax (acid reflux medication). The only relief is leaning back (recliner) and placing an ice pack on the area.

Since week 18 I have had some unbearable pain under my ribs. But the pain in only on my left side. The Dr said it was from acid but this is not acid!! Still dealing with the pain at 27 weeks. Can't sleep anymore!!!! I have to sit in some funny positions to get any relief. I sleep until about 2 in my bed then go down stairs and sleep on the couch which helps a little. This is the only problem I have had my entire pregnancy.

your rib cage widens out in pregnancy, it can be very uncomfortable. try and maintain good posture and don't wear underwire bras.

I am 33 weeks pregnant and have noticed this stabbing, stable like pain under my rid cage on the left. It feels like its the bottom of my heart rudding against something. It doesnt worsen however, its very very annoying. It feels like gas that won't move! I told my OB about it and she simply paid it no attention and said its a pregnancy thing.
It really bothers me though. It comes on heavily when i am full, or eat way too much sugar. The only thing i have found that helps me deal with it is stretching or gentley massaging the middle of my chest a bit...and applying small amounts of pressure. Makes it go away a bit but not all the way.

Hello everybody. I'm 26 weeks pregnant and this pain started getting worse since about week 24. In my case it's Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I was diagnosed with it over a year ago and this syndrome makes your intestines swell, they push against your ribs and your stomach and are called abdominal spasms, sometimes they last for hours and hours, it feels like you're sophocating and then it feels like somebody is stabbing your ribs. I believe it gets worse as the uterus keeps on growing and in my case it has also concentrated in my left rib. The only thing that takes it away is an antispasmatic that is not recommended to take during pregnancy. I treat my IBS eating a lot of papaya since it loosens your intestines and relieves some of the pain. Applying pressure in the pain area also helps. For those of you that have not been diagnosed with IBS maybe you should ask your doctor, IBS is more common than people think. It's triggered by greasy and spicy foods. Hope this helps.
I have a strong tingling sensation under my left breast, that often turns into numbness. This seems to happen more often at night, while in bed. Changing sleeping position does not alleviate this discomfort.
The whole area across the upper part of the stomach(where the top of your uterus is) and right below the breasts. It's a constant stinging and aching pain that never really goes away. starts to sting especially after slouching for a long period of time and when arching your back you get a stretching and stinging pain all the way across.
Treatment or advice:
I just try to keep a good posture most of the time. it helps relieve some of the pain- Not ALL but some. dont really rub on it. I've realized that I rubbed the area so much that I have kind of lost feeling in the area. lol

I am 36 weeks and am also having this discomfort under my breasts right above where my uterus ends. It aches and feels really uncomfortable. I figure it might be due to my underwire bra or posture, but I plan to check with my doctor tomorrow. I wonder if it might mean something is wrong with my placenta. Probably not, but am going to check just in case.

I have been having a pain similar to this for the last few days. I am almost in my 34th week and have just noticed it. It is really hard to explain but it is a sharp stinging, almost burning pain centered right under my breasts at where I think the very top of my uterus is. It really hasn't gone away at all and keeps waking me up at night. It actually gets worse if I push or rub on it.
it's on the left half of my ribs towards the top of my `baby bump` it feels like a pinching.could this be my son resting his feet up there like his daddy did to his mom?

I have a sharp pain in my chest below my breast. It feels worse when I am sitting and a bit relieved when I lie down or stand up. My doctor says that my rib is not moving (the muscles and ligaments around it are not stretching), but everything else is growing and moving.
Treatment or advice:
I find lying down on my back or standing up and moving help it. I also find yoga (stretching) and getting out walking or jogging really help relieve the pain.
My ribs are very tender on the left side. It hurts to lay on the left side although that is the side i need to lie on every night. Continuous stabbing pain in my left side. Awful to deal with at night!!!

Slight cramping at times. Mostly a tingley numb feeling, often when laying on that side.
Treatment or advice:
Laying on the opposite side of the pain. Laying on the same side but twisting the upper body on to the back and wedging a bit of blanket or pillow under the side of the breast and ribcage area. Keeping the area streched out is helpful.

Burning feeling in what I think would be my muscle, sometimes more acute than others, accompanied by extremely sensitive and tingly skin for an area of about 5 quare inches.
Treatment or advice:
My doctor says the tingly skin might be damange/irritation to the nerve due to an underwire bra, and suggested I switch to non-wire. Today is the first day without an underwire, no relief yet.
