Discomfort:just in front of my ear the salva gland has a knot in it and when I chew gum or eat food my salva gland fills up with salva but does not drain, these glands are also located on the bottom side of your jaw and behind you ear. feels like I'm sucking on sour lemons all day!!
Treatment or advice:(I went to the ER for this ) there was a blockage in my salva gland, a few days before the onset of pain I had a small sore on the inside of my mouth, then I noticed the knot on the outside.. it's hormone related. i was given antibodics and told to use a heating pad on it and chew lots of sour gum( which made it hurt more but helped) it was gone in a week, you can also get `stones` in your salva gland that have to be surgically removed so go to your doctor and make sure it's just a blockage

I feel like every now and then I have just taken off on the plane and need to unblock my ears, or that I constantly need to clean my ears because they feel blocked. My doctor told me that it is because of the excess blood in the body and the swelling and softening of the tube that goes from the ear. Just like the rest of your body softens to prepare for childbirth. It helps if you put your finger on the little flap over your ear hole and push it open and closed a few times very quickly.

Discomfort:intense pain in the cartilage of left ear when I get off my left side, get's worse when the pressure from the pillow is released -- kind of like a brain-freeze from a slurpee in the ear cartilage -- can't wait to get off my side and back onto my back -- any ideas?

Discomfort:Turns out it had to do with sinus trouble (which is exacerbated in pregnant women) even though I thought it was originally a cavity. The pain radiates along my upper and lower jawline and sometimes to my ear and eye.
Treatment or advice:I haven't tried this yet, but staying away from dairy and sugar is supposed to help. Decongestants are not recommended for pregnant women.
