SherB - I'm starting to let my LO cry it out at night, it's working well during the day so I needed to stay consistent and what my husband is doing is wearing earplugs, seriously! He says he can't hear him at all! Too bad I can't wear them as well :)

babynguyen2 - 65 days ago.
manda-may where did you get a baby monitor with a breathing sensor at?

manda-may - 65 days ago.
SherB have you got a baby monitor with breathing sensor that goes under the mattress? We have them for our boys and they really help to ease our minds. The alarm (beeping) sounds if there is no movement sensed for more than 20 seconds. Our ones are 'Angel Care' monitors and you can use them for sound and/or movement monitoring.

manda-may - 65 days ago.
Brie as far as I know, the only things you can't feed baby until 12 months are honey and cows milk. I have been giving my twins porridge and weet-bix for their breakfast every morning since about 8 or 9 months I think. I started with the baby muesli that you can buy at around 8 months. My boys love their weet-bix (weat biscuits) with hot water and yoghurt! mmm!

Bri - 66 days ago.
SherB - Don't worry. Once they start rolling there isn't anything you can do. Plus, yes SIDS has occured in the later part of the first year but it's so low. I believe 3-4months is the peak time for it. My son started rolling in his sleep around 4 months and honestly there wasn't anything I could do about it. He's now 22months and he still rolls everywhere. I can't sleep with him at because of it. HAHA! You can try the wedges but I'm sure it's a waste of money at this point because she can roll right over them. As for crying it out. I don't believe in it. I think it causes more anxiety then it's worth for both parent and child. Some children take longer to sleep through the time. Or, they may start waking again around 8months because their worlds are expanding. They now realize when you are gone. Give it time. It sounds like you are doing the right thing. Try the music first and pat the back. If that doesn't help she may just need a hug and a reminder that Mom will always be there. My son had a nightmare last night. I went in and pick him up. We rocked for a few moments and finally after he was calm I put him back in his crib. Also, if she has a soothing object that may help. My son sucks on his blanket. It helps him when he's hurt, scared or just needing comfort.

My 8 month old tends to roll in her sleep, she usually goes onto her side when I lay her down and eventually rolls onto her stomach, just wondering how many people flip there little ones back over, when ever I do she wakes up but I fear SIDS. She also has been waking up 1-2 times a night crying for the last month and a half, I try to get her back to sleep without picking her up (she sometimes will start sucking her thumb, I turn her lullabies on and rub her back until she's calm and starts to fall asleep again but a lot of the time she won't do this and I have to pick her up. Anyone have any advice on what I should do? Crying it out isn't all too good of an idea as I don't want to wake up Dad.

brie - 67 days ago.
Ok I’m confused there is conflicting information out there, can you feed a baby less than 12 months of age wheat products?

arilou79 - 68 days ago.
okay, I have a baby name question. My husband and I do not know what we are having- and we have 2 names picked out- our boy name is Sylas. My question is, is there anything wrong with spelling Sylas with a 'y' instead of an 'i'???

babynguyen2 - 72 days ago.
isnt that the swine flu vaccine? Well not me, I had a regular flu shot this year and I don't normally get that either, plus I'm pregnant and I don't know what it will do to my baby!

prego81 - 72 days ago.
i was wondering thoughts on the H1N1 vaccine... who is going to get it, who is not... what is your reasoning?! I am still on the fence!

SherB - Best advice is not to stress. Breastmilk has everything she needs. The first year is for practice and that's it. Just keep offering it. She'll either eat it or she won't. Have you tried foods other then cereal and baby food? Maybe something off of your plate like mashed potatos during dinner. Have her sit at the table for dinner and try it. Maybe also let her do it herself. She's old enough that if you put some in front of her she might pick it up and eat some and like it. She may not like to be spoon fed. But anyways, let her lead you. She'll let you know what she wants. If breastmilk is all she wants for now then so be it. I didn't have any solids until I was over a year. I have no allergies, gast problems, etc. Most doctors will tell you it's ok. You can't force the child to eat. Just try different things.

SherB - 72 days ago.
anyone know what i should do to get my 8 month old to eat food? I've read that i should breastfed her and then give her solids but that doesn't work and solids and then milk doesn't work either.

my 19 month old wont eat either.. he spits everything out as well. it worries me cuz he hasnt really eaten anything in a while but if others are experiencing it too then i guess its normal.. im going to ask his doctor as soon as i can get him another appt when i get insurance for him again.

Beautiful Bre - 74 days ago.
sherb- my son is almost 2 and still doesnt eat. its way frustrating but he went through the same things your little one is. hardly eats and i still havent found a way to get him to. i offer him food all the time. he will put it in his mouth and spit it back out., i dont understand how he gets anything out of it or why he doesnt actually eat it.

SherB - 74 days ago.
How can I get my almost 8 month old to eat her food? I started her on cereal when she was 5 months and by the time she was 5 1/2 I had to stop giving her cereal for 2 weeks because she was constipated. I started her back on cereal after she turned 6 months and started giving her food at 7 months and she was doing okay (not the best but would actually eat some, about 2 tbsp of food) but now she just won't eat, i'm not sure if its from her gums/teeth bothering her again or because hasn't had a proper bm.

RobinG - 74 days ago.
Lololololol :) Scary isnt it, lol :)

Bri - 74 days ago.
Robin, you make me laugh. HAHA! You make us sound like rabbits or in my case chinchillas. HAHA! After birth I have to remove the Dad for a couple weeks or Mom will get pregnant right away which isn't good for her. HAHA! But you are correct. It is very possible to be fertile right after birth. Never ever have sex without protection if you aren't wanting more kids. Even with protection you have to know that you are running the risk. I was on the same birth control for years and got pregnant with my son. It happens.

RobinG - 74 days ago.
Without protection you are most fertile after delivery so can get pregnant very quickly so best to always use protection if not wanting another baby yet.

Mom of 7 - 74 days ago.
I had a baby on Aug. 25 and I don't want another one for a little while. How soon after giving birth can you get pregnant?

manda-may - 76 days ago.
Brodys Mommy I don't know that there is much to relieve the cough, but if you take him to the doctors they might be able to prescribe something for cold symptoms. My doctor prescribed demazin and it has the added plus of making them sleepy. SherB my twins are a year now, and they went through phases where their sleep patterns changed. All I can say is hang in there and keep trying different things till you find one you like and stick with it for a while to make it stick... a bath before bed.... bouncing to sleep in a bouncinet... giving them a full and busy day to tire them out... what ever works for you, and if that is bringing them to bed then hey! By the way, is your baby sick? My babies were sick for a month and they had broken sleep for that whole month then went back to normal... but by that time their sleep patterns were totally different and it has taken a few months to get them to go down by themselves again - we had to bounce them, etc at first, but then gave them a week of putting them down and ignoring the noise which worked after the first night or two.. but I think because they were old enough to know that we were coming back. I remember my boys went through a phase where they would panic when we left the room - I think it is a survival thing... and they don't know if you are coming back. It eventually came right. Good luck!

Brodys Mommy - 76 days ago.
My baby is 9 months old & he's starting to get a cold. He's been coughing alot but mostly at night. What can I do or what meds I can give him to help with his cough??

SherB - 84 days ago.
my baby is 7 1/2 months and has recently started waking up through the night crying, this has also turned into having to be asleep before being put down for the night and she even wakes up when i lay her down, lately i've had to lay her on me to sleep when she wakes up in the night because nothing else works. She used to be able to be laid down sucking her thumb to sleep herself which i wish would happen once again. she's been teething for over 4 months now but i don't actually think its her gums bothering her as she isn't bothered during the day. anyone have any idea what's wrong?
