Hello Ladies, it has been almost 300 days since my last time on here. My mother has my sun for the weekend so i can rest. He is a healthy 5.5 months old. I am struggling so hard to loose the extra weight. but the worst of it is how bad my feet still hurt me. anyone else had that problem? hope all you ladies are doing well. is there a spot where other mothers who had their babies in August can go and discuss progress and stuff?

JaguarEyes - You are right, this is very personal. It depends on your life and level of activity, plus it depends on your child. I got pregnant when my son was 17months. We just had our second son almost 3weeks ago. I absolutely love having both stages in the house. It is a little intimidating to be left alone with both boys but it can be done. My first son has been a dream. Loves his little brother and actually is showing more signs of potty training since Alex was born. He didn't regress in breastfeeding either which I was scared about since he just weaned 4months ago. Anyways, I kept getting people tell me how hard it was going to be. That it was better to wait until Chris was older. That having two in diapers is awful, etc. etc etc. I haven't ventured out alone yet with both boys because it is just a hassle and my husband has been home with me. I think it's great having both stages in the house. I love the cuddle time with my older son. I love rough housing with him and such. But then i also love breastfeeding and cuddling with an itty bitty baby. I suppose I would be a little more frustrated if my first son hadn't been such a dream but he is just that kind of nature. I've known other toddlers to throw fits and such. I guess in my opinion I love having them 26months apart. I find it fun and exciting. They'll be close in age where they'll be friends and relate to one another as they grow. Oh and another thing I kept hearing about is how my oldest wouldn't remember when it was just him. Like that is a bad thing? I'm the youngest, it was never just about me so how come people make it seem like it is so important for the first. I do think it has to be hard and you can't really enjoy it if you have them within a year of each other but 2yrs is enough. You get the infant stage and once into the toddler stage you can still play with the toddler while being pregnant. It actually kept me from gaining a ton. I was rolling on the ground and going to the park the day I gave birth which was no easy task. I was 41.5weeks and gave birth to a 10lb 11oz baby! HAHA! I was HUGE! But it was fun and I wouldn't trade the moments for anything.

For all of you ladies out there that already have a child, I have a question. My husband and I are trying to decide whether to try for another baby (our DS is 15 months old now and we lovelovelove having him!). My question is how much more does a second child impact your life, negatively or positively? Do you find you have enough attention/energy/time for your first child when you have two? Does the second child get as much attention/energy/time etc. as you were able to give the first? Anyway, I know it's a really personal decision but I thought I'd see if anyone has any feedback for me - this site was awesome when I was pregnant, so just thought I'd see what you ladies think.

****CRIB RECALL***** NEWS CENTER) - A baby's death has prompted a crib recall involving hundreds of thousands of units. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling about 635,000 'Dorel Asia' cribs. There are 20 models, including both drop side and fixed side cribs. The CPSC has more specific information on their website. The issue was recalled after a six month old baby in Iowa was trapped in a crib. The drop side hardware broke and strangled the child. That is the only death. There are, however, reports of injuries and parents are urged to find another sleeping place for their children until the crib is replaced or a repair kit is received. The cribs were sold at K-Mart, Sears, Wal-Mart and other stores. They cost between $120 and $700.

***GRACO STROLLER RECALL**** Graco Children's Products is recalling 1.5-million strollers after some children had their fingertips amputated by canopy hinges. The recall includes certain model numbers of Graco's Passage, Alano and Spree Strollers and Travel Systems. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the Pennsylvania company received seven reports of children placing their fingers in the stroller's canopy hinge while it was being opened or closed. Five children had their fingertips severed and two children received cuts on their fingertips. The recalled strollers were made in China and sold by major retailers nationwide from October 2004 to December 2009. For more information and a list of model numbers, consumers can call 800-345-4109.

i recently switched my son to nuk bottles and nipples since he was taking 2.5 hours 2 finish a bottle and seemed frustrated while eating. they're the fat ones the look like a real nipple... but the formula seems to come out too fast on the ones that we bought ( we have one from the hospital that seems to work fine). while hes eating he spits it out of his mouth and seems close to choking i was wondering if any one else who is bottle feeding uses these and if u have any suggestions or comments?

I just want to make it easier on him. Ill keep you updated on the situation. keeping fingers crossed it all works out. We don't have any other choice at the moment

My two month old daughter has been a joy. Breastfeeding didn't go as planned, ny nipples were so sore they bled. I had to supplement. I do bf at night or first thing in the a.m., but she gets mad because I'm not producing as much. It's kind of funny to watch her get angry at my breast! I will recommend the Miracle Blanket that swaddles your baby. She has been in it since coming home and when she reached 3 weeks, started sleeping 4 hours at a time, then going back to sleep after eating for another 4. Now, she goes to bed at 10 pm and up at 6 am. It's a blessing!

luvbeingamom - 845 days ago.
manda - The first thing, try getting a noise maker. Something that will play white noise or use a fan or humidifier. They will give good backgroud noise and help let your child sleep through some of the other noises that you both will make when moving around after bedtime. Also, maybe if you can make a section of the room for your LO so that they can have a darker area (with blankets/sheets/curtains) so the light from TV or lamp won't be as noticable. Good luck with everything. I hope your husband is going to be ok. That is a tough situation.

mandapnda025 - 845 days ago.
Hi Ladies, I am hardly on this site anymore. Life in the past 6m has gotten really hectic. I need some help and advise regarding my 20m old son. Recently my husband needed emergency back sx and is on diablilty so now we can't afford the house we are renting. We are having to move into a friends house and rent the master bedroom. This means that my son is going to have to share a room with us. He has been sleeping in his own room since he was 6 weeks old. He isnt a deep sleeper at all and he still wakes up in the middle of the night of ten because he is teething. I am having major anxiety about it. If anybody can please give me some tips and pointers that would be amazing.

anotheryummymummy - 848 days ago.
mummakrystal I agree 100% when it comes to almost everything about babies other than SIDS risks......no, babies don't follow text books, and 'advice' isn't always as helpful as mother's intuition.....but babies are statistically less likely to die when they sleep on their backs so i think its a bit wrong to write a notice for everyone that rules change every 5 years and imply there's no reason why back sleeping is adviced. Didn't mean to rant or bitch though

Bri - 848 days ago.
mummakrystal - Like luv said, some babies just don't selt sooth for months. My son was well over a year before he slept through the night on a regular basis. He just wasn't ready. He sleeps like a champ now. He goes down at 8pm and wakes at 8am. He also takes a 2hour nap at the same time every day. Be patient and your baby will learn. As for CIO and such. I'm totaly against it. My husband and I did try it and it caused so many problems. It totally back fired. It took over two hours for him to settle down. Then the next night he refused to go anywhere near his crib. Jus screamed. When he had two nights before slept fine there. It scared him that we would leave him. So we went back to your normal routine and he began sleeping there again. As for the comments about tummy sleeping. Back is still considered best but I understand when a baby rolls. My son was rolling onto his tummy at 2months. We could not keep him on his back even with a wedge. Once they start rolling then it's fine to allow baby to sleep how he or she likes. But, putting a non-rolling baby on the tummy is risky and not recommended by any doctor. Even at almost 2 I put Kekoa down on his back and he rolls to whatever position he wants. As for cereal, that is a total myth. Cereal in the bottle is NOT recommended. It can cause several issues including early onset diabetes. It also does not make babies sleep longer. If solids made a child sleep longer then my child would have been sleeping through the night at six months when he started solids. He was eating steak at 9months and still didn't work. The reason people thought this is because babies go through growth spurts and around 3months it slows down which means they can go longer without food. This is the time that moms will start the cereal routine and they think that is the reason. Babies should not be given cereal until six months. I understand some say four but most up to date doctors will say no solids until six. Also, if baby can't sit up, use a spoon and or if he/she is not interested then they aren't ready. Besides diabetes, babies can form alergies and gast problems from solids too early. Their little tummies just are ready for the harshness that food comes along. The comment about all of us turned out fine....no not all of us did. Diabetes is rampent, food allergies are on a rise, many people have issues with food period. Making a comment like that is the same as saying, my mom smoked and drank while pregnant with me and I turned out fine....while that may be so, many didn't.

mummakrystal - 848 days ago.
All I'm saying is put the books down and pay attention to your child's individual needs. How would you like it if someone came and moved you once you found a comfortable position to sleep in?
