Did anyones babies walk or talk late?? I would love to hear stories..how late..and why (if you know). My first experienced developmental depays because of a brain bleed at birth. Now everything with my second is so much diffrent..it's a whole new experience because he's doing things so much faster than his older brother! i'm just in awe of everything. He rolled over at 13 weeks! and it was from his back to tummy...which i hear it it is usually the other way first. Hes now 4 months old and rolling all over the place. I cant wait to see him crawling around with his brother :)

Bri - 207 days ago.
Brodys Mommy - I'm with you! To count the time my son has rolled, crawled or walked off edges...usually under Dad's watch. Once when he was sleeping at my mom's house was it my fault. He was six months and crawling. He laid down for a nap on my mom's bed and I left the room. I usually hear him wake up cause he would cry. Nope, he woke up, crawled off the bed which did have pillows on the floor. I just heard a thud and then crying. He was fine, it wasn't a far drop to the pillows but it did scare me. He did go off the changing table at four months and down the stairs at six months because hubby turned around. No bruises or scrapes but Hubby didn't luck out of a few punches. HAHA! Why am I having another with this man!

Brodys Mommy - 207 days ago.
Ladies I'm sure you ALREADY know this but I just thought I should let you ladies you know this..... My son will be five months on Friday and he's been rolling like crazy!!! A couple of hrs ago I was making Brody's bottle and he was laying in the bed (like the middle of the bed by the wall, NOWHERE near the edge) I kept turning around...checking on him. Well I turned away for literally 30seconds or an blink of an eye and he was on the edge of the bed!!!!! If I didnt turn around to check on him again I dont even want to think about what couldve happen. I wasnt being irresponsible, I was like 3ft away. He's been a VERY active baby since the day he was born. I dont know what I would do if something happen to him. :-/ LADIES PLEASE KEEP A GOOD EYE ON YOUR BABY...EVERY SECONDS COUNTS

RobinG - 208 days ago.
I def would toss out the paci's too, then they cant give her one but as far as it causing a bad latch I disagree ~ some babies learn to latch better with a soother, my first did. He didnt know how to suck and the nurses suggested the paci because his tongue wasnt in the right position for latching and it was a miracle, the paci really worked :) He did perfectly so the latching issues could be for another reason. ((()))

Bri - 208 days ago.
SherB - I would throw them all away! My son never took them either. He's breastfeed and didn't like the 'artifical' nipple. If there isn't any pacifiers around then MIL can't try shoving it in. If she asks for one then tell her you didn't see the purpose of them since she doesn't like them. It's funny, I do have a couple. They ended up in my son's toy box. He's 18months now and will come across it. He pops it in his mouth and blows shooting it into the air. He and I have a good laugh over it when he does it. It's now a toy. He doesn't suck on it for sleep or even walking around during the day.

Birth story finally posted! Sorry so winded.

SherB - 209 days ago.
I couldln't find a forum for pacifiers/soothers or thumb sucking. My 3 month old started sucking her thumb at 2 months of age and I let her suck her thumb instead of giving her a soother as I don't have to worry about having to take the soother away at night and its there if she needs it, she usually only sucks on her thumb/fingers if her gums hurt (as she started teething a couple of weeks ago) and if she is tired and starts putting herself to sleep with it. I've been trying to look up to see if thumb-sucking is really that much worse than a soother. I'm really not having a good time when my boyfriends mother is always trying to shove the soother in my baby's mouth when she isn't even crying and when i tell her she doesn't need the soother or even want it, his mother is jamming it into her closed mouth and wiggling it around to get her to take it! its really been upsetting me because my boyfriends parents don't want or like i guess that she sucks her thumb because they think she will get buck teeth (my sister and i both sucked our fingers/thumb and didn't have to have our teeth fixed they are pretty straight). I know it may be an issue to break the thumb sucking but i'll solve the problem when it arises. I'm now realizing that my baby probably took longer to get a good latch when breastfeeding because my boyfriends mother wanted to try a soother when she was 9 days old and i complied.

My 6 year did not talk much either but he made his own words for things that he could not say. He could not say words with 2 consonants together like stir so he would say turney. Pediatrician wanted him evaluated at 3 year and he needed some speech therapy. He has been going for the last years during school time. His speech is so much better. Just keep an eye on it. Early intervention is the best. He will not need speech after this year.

jfer - 209 days ago.
my husband didn't speak at 3 yrs so they took him to get checked out because they thought maybe he was mentally challenged or something else... turned out he was a genious and didn't need to talk to get what he wanted. they stopped giving him stuff and he started talking. Till this day he doesn't talk much and is extremely smart.

pygmalin - 210 days ago.
Austinsmommy- my eldest didn't speak until he was about a year and a half. he said 'I like that' and now its been hard to get him to stop talking...lol (10 now)

pygmalin - 210 days ago.
Dizzydays-YES! get a second opinion! I don't know about the other ladies here but to me I would think he should be holding down more and gaining more. Was he a preemie? I can only go by my experience but my son is one month old today and is eating between 3 and 4 oz and has already gained 1lbs 6 oz. Maybe its just a case of each child is different, but I believe a second opinion is warrented here.

dizzydayz - 210 days ago.
my son is a month old and he only drinks 2 oz every three hours and sometimes doesnt want to drink that i burb him every oz usually less than that i burb him and he spits up everytime he went to the doctor 2 days ago and he only weighs 5lbs 6 oz when i brought him home he weighed 5lbs 4 oz and that was 2 weeks ago and the doctor is not worried should i get a 2nd opinion

austinsmummy - 212 days ago.

My son seems to have a skin irratation. It looks like acne but it's not...it small bumps that look like over dried skin and it's hard to notice as it's the sames as his skin colour...not sure if it's eczema. Could it be the Baby Soft laundry soap I started using. He is just 4mths and 3 weeks so he hasn't had any food yet and I still only bf him. Any comments would help me figure this out...I know one thing I will be doing tomorrow...switching his laundry soap! What kind of baby detergent is the best for sensitive skin? Thanks so much ladies!

dizzydayz - 221 days ago.

MIchelle, this sounds a lot like my sister's husband's ex. She got pregnant thinking to hold onto him. It didn't. They broke up and he met my sister. They got married and now have three children together. She tries to use her son against them. It's hard, they are in the marines so they are everywhere but where his son is. He sends love and money and tries to be civil with her but unfortunately, his son is a little brat now. He's older and thinks Dad is off having his other life. I blame it all on his mom. She won't let him come visit even when they are stationed in the states. She's a witch and uses them. I guess, I don't have much advice except try to be patient. You know your fiance is doing what he can. He will always love his son but you are both starting a new family as well. Hopefully his son can be a part of it and his mom will come to accept it.
