MommytoNatalie - Actually most doctors recommend going to the dentist once several teeth have come in. From what I've read the gray stains could be several things but most common are 1. some sort of trama to the teeth or 2. a filmy layer of skin that didn't break off. From what I've read you could use a blunted tooth pick and baking soda to firmly scrape it away without hurting baby's gums. I'm not sure if I would do this. If in your shoes I would call a ped dentist if your family dentist doesn't deal with infants and toddlers. They will do about the same but more like when we get our teeth clean. I wouldn't worry too much but I'd go in to see.

Hey Moms out there I have a question, my 9 month old daughter has 6 teeth 4 top 2 bottom and the tops ones are gray. She had her 9 month check up and I told them about it and they have no idea what it is, its not bottle rott, and she never had a iron supplement. Since she was a newborn I always give nursery water(formula mix after breastfeeding) and once she got teeth I brush them with grins and giggles with a soft tip finger brush morning and night. They want me to take her to the dentist. She is only 9 months. I am concerned b/c I was reading in rare cases that it could be a blood disease or something wrong with the liver. Has anyone had this happen to their little one or know something about this?? Please advices is welcome. I am so worried. I want them to do an iron test just to make sure that its not to high. Thanks :)

Hi ladies - question - my one year old has a runny nose and cough, no fever.. The last couple of days she has thrown up while riding in the car. Once she throws up shes fine. Could the motion of the car make her sick? Could the drainage be too much for her while in motion therefore throwing up? She's fine otherwise running around playing... thx!

4 oz of water a day for a newborn is dangerous ~ 1 oz per month of age is the recommended water intake. I use to give my oldest water, what was once considered safe is no longer safe, it effects the electrolites balances and is dangerous. I would call your doc and say you know they arent concerned but you are and what can you give safely ~ karo syrup is often recommended. :) Water supplementation in an infant can lead to oral water intoxication in more extreme cases but typically will cause an imblance in sodium. jens1st- my son was just like that and they say that it was normal but a the nurse that call us to check on us after they discharge us say to give him a lil bit of water and also i ask a nutritionist and she say to give him no more than 4 ounces and in between feeding i gave him just 1 ounce and he poop a couple of hours later so u might want to try that even though his pedatrician say not give him water i remember i gave water to my daughter and it did work as well, my grandma say that, thats what they just to do back then as well... so hope i help!!!

I have a question I am formula and breast feeding my daughter( she is 5 days today) She passed the black stool in the hospital on tuesday but has not had anything since. The doc is not worried but I am a little has this happened to any one else?? What do you think??

RobinG - 246 days ago.
When I cry myself to sleep I get a headache and cant stay asleep well or toss and turn and would assume that if my kids cried to sleep they too wouldnt feel the best, I try to keep them from crying to sleep so it is more a happy time and soothing so when they fall asleep they are comfortable. I believe kids who are crying need something so I'd look into why they are crying (()) They may be waking too because they cried to sleep and they still need something. ((()))

Gem- Def something in themilk, but i don't think it is a dairy allergy. B/c if he can have yogurt and cheese it isn't an allergy. Maybe it is the increased consintration of dairy causing an intolerance? But i would say that if he doesn't do well witht hat you can try soy milk. My son who was very allergic to all dairy was on soy milk until he was well over 2 and grew out of his allergy. it has a lot of the same stuff milk has in it (vitamins wise) and is a good alt. My doc said to try dairy every 6 months to see if he grew out of it yet. We tried at 2 and hen not again until he was just over 2 and half. That is when he could tolerate it.

Hiya I was just wondering if any one elses babies have an allergy to cow's milk? My son turned 1 a month ago and since he was about 11 months I have been putting cows milk in his cereal instead of baby milk and since then he got really bad eczema on his back, I decided to take him off of straight cows milks (he can still have yogurt, cheese etc just not milk on its own) and his eczema is clearing up. I tried him with cows milk again in his cereal to see if it was definitly the milk and sure enough the next day he had the worst nappy rash i've ever seen him have. Has anyone else found this? When should I try him with cows milk again? xx

my kids have always cried themselves to sleep, its staying asleep im having trouble with

pygmalin - 247 days ago.
Andreat_ You need to take her to the doc..if her hands are purple and cold it could mean a serious blood flow issue...not to try and scare you..but if I saw that in my son I would think circulation...could be nothing but in this case its better left to the proffesionals.

pallante2 - 247 days ago.
I had to bite the bullet and let my little guy cry himself to sleep at 5 months. It took about a week and I used the Ferber Method. http://www.sleep-baby-sleep.com/ferber-method.htm I taylored it to meet my needs but I did have a a glass of wine to help calm my nerves when he was crying (although I wasnt pregnant at the time). He sleeps great now. But there is always the odd nights he wakes up if he's sick or teething etc.

4thonitsway - 247 days ago.
help! my 7 month old doesnt sleep. on a good night she only wakes up about 3 times, but on average were talking every other hour. Im due in july to have another so I HAVE to get her sleeping thru the night, no way could i get up with 2 babies. she naps fine in the day, bout 4 hours but refuses to sleep at night

andreat - 247 days ago.
my baby girl is 5months old, shes got a cold which is fine, but now her hands are freezing cold and turned purple, does ayone know what this could be, the rest of her is warm infact ive been controlling her temp as it had been slightly high?

KarenVG - 247 days ago.
Anyone know if teething causes constipation in exclusively breastfed baby? Also great to hear others say they think the crying out is cruel...you have made my day!

KarenVG - 247 days ago.
Anotheryummymummy. baby could be teething. Two of mine had teeth at 4 months so it is not too early at all and that would cause the fussy baby and the biting down. Try a little medicine like tylenol for babies (tempra) or similar you may find that is all baby needs to get some needed sleep... mine is a little older (5 months) and teething and I have seen that behaviour too, she wakes every 90 mins or so unless I give her a dose of medicine. Hope that helps

Hi ladies, i live in the uk and have heard a story about BPA in babies bottles it said that USA had banned it but UK was not going to follow this as there was no risk as long as you didnt microwave the milk to heat it or pour boiling water into the bottles, I am still concerned and was wondering what kind of bottles do you use? I have only found one type of bottle that states it is BPA free (MAM). also does anyone know if this also effects plastic food tubs as i use these to freeze, warm and feed my little ones food when i do a batch cook, thanks for any advise x Also with regard to sleeping all of a sudden our little one has started sleeping through at 9 months after being up 4 or more times every night since birth so they do eventually settle and wow it feels GOOD!

MommytoNatalie - 249 days ago.
And I don't believe in the Ferber method at all. I could never let my baby seriously cry to go to sleep. I believe that all babies cry for a reason. That is their only way of communication. I would feel awful if something was really wrong with her and I was letting her cry on her own. And my daughter always cry Mama when she sad or lonely or for whatever reason. Now sometimes she will whine and I try not to acknowledge it b/c I don't want her thinking she can get her way all the time babies are smart they know how to play the game.!!:) They were programed at conception. LOL

MommytoNatalie - 249 days ago.
I am so blessed that Natalie sleeps in her own crib at 8 1/2 months old! And has been since 3 months considering she grew out of her bassinet so soon. At first she always wanted to sleep with her Dad and I that was the only way she would sleep but I knew that it could not work like that forever and I decided to start weaning her by putting in her crib for naps during the day even if she woke up over and over again and then one night I decided tonight is the big night. It was rough for the first 2 weeks but then she learned how to go to sleep on her own. It was worth all the sleep I lost b/c we all sleep better in our own beds!!!

pygmalin - 250 days ago.
oh I agree.. the Ferber method is cruel..I think that it is important for children to learn early that they can count on you when they need something..even if that something is to just be close to you..The first year is so cruticial to the baby and how they bond.

happyforest - 250 days ago.
i would never ignore my babies cries until they are at least around a year old, any younger than that and they are crying for a reason and need something and have no way to understand that they are not being neglected.

RobinG - 250 days ago.
I personally think the Ferber Method is cruel ~ I followed it for my first son as per docs specifics and he choked in his own vomit in q very short period of time at 4-6 months and could have died so I will never do it again or promote it ~ some do fine with it but it is a risky method ~

dizzydayz - 250 days ago.
Has anyone tried the ferber method and how did it go?
