luvmalilbaby24, I gave my son first fruits at age 4 months, as recommended by the doc. He was drinking 4oz every 3 hrs. but was showing interest while I was eating. We tried the spoon and it worked great.

Bri - 270 days ago.
I've heard that too. Especially for moms that cosleep and are trying to transition baby to their own room.

momentfrozenintime - 270 days ago.
I have read that sometimes if you put something in the crib that smells like you (mom), some babies will sleep better because they feel like you are there. I have tried it once, and Colin went to sleep pretty quick, but he had been fussy for like an hour before that so he may have just been tired. But I'm sure it helped a little bit at least.

Bri - 270 days ago.
luvmalilbaby24 - Two things. First, doctors are now trying to get moms to hold off on baby food until six months. Feeding solids too early can lead to gast. problems, early diabetes and allergies. That being said, six months (like one year) is not a magic number. Some babies are ready earlier then others. If your baby is wanting food and can eat by a spoon then you can try. Even when you start, don't give too much. My doctor recommended 2-4tbsp a day max. If your baby doesn't want to eat and doesn't get the spoon then hold off a bit longer.

I have a question for all moms...my baby girl will turn 4 months next week. Now she eats a 4oz bottle of formula every 2 hrs...plus shes teething as well.. My question is at what time can i start giving my baby girl gerber fruit stage 1? Thanks

Bri - 270 days ago.
About sleeping with milk. There is a difference between breastmilk and formula. Breastmilk doesn't have the same sugars and tend not to rot the teeth as much. Also, it depends on genetics. I was nursed to sleep until I was two and didn't have a single cavity until I was 18years old. No one in my family has had problems with cavities. I hope Kekoa follows in my families footsteps. Not that my husband's teeth are bad but they weren't as good as mine. HAHA!

Bri - 270 days ago.
izziebo - Just because you are going back to work doesn't mean you have to wean. Kekoa is 16months and I've been working since he was three months....he hasn't weaned. I pump twice daily and feed at lunch and evening time. Now that he's older he isn't asleep when I lay him down after our evening feed. I enjoy that time with him. I'm away from him for so long during the day that it's nice to have that cuddle time. Wean if you want to but don't feel as if you have too. You could also just feed in the evening time. Your supply will go down but it will adjust to just evenings. I agree about pacifiers. They are fine for itty bitty babies but I hate seeing bigger babies and toddlers running around with them. Also, Kekoa has a blanket that he sucks on. Actually he sucks on the tag. He loves it and anytime he isn't happy he hugs it. It's like a child and a teddy bear. I would recommend getting your baby something like that. A bear or blanket usually works. Something that is soothing to her.

Thanks ladies! I'll take all of that into consideration and do my best with the whole thing. : )

LittleLayla - 270 days ago.
blydansmommy My mother used to let me sleep with a bottle in my mouth and most of my front baby teeth had cavities! My pictures of me as a kid look so redneck! So it is a little more harmful than most people think. But then again that was my teeth maybe your little ones will be different. I refuse to let my baby girl go to sleep with a bottle setting in her mouth because of it.. I would rather put up with her fussing than her teeth look like mine did LOL!

RobinG - 270 days ago.
IMO no, not unless he is well over a year old. My son is 16 months and falls sleep drinking. Most fall alseep drinking or many do I should say. As long as you brush his teeth once he has them all is fine ~ but others will disgree, its one of those that you do what works. All three of my kids did and none have problems. So do what works for you :)

2babys-under2 - 270 days ago.
I was reading an article in a 'Parents' magazine and read about this website called www.coolmompicks.com it's pretty cool

2babys-under2 - 270 days ago.
my son took him self off of his pacifier at 3 1/2 months. He won't have anything to do with it. Now he always wants to go to sleep with a bottle in his mouth, isn't that bad for him??

RobinG - 270 days ago.
Best advice is be open to what works, even if it IS a paci ~ what we as moms want isnt always whats best or what works and sometimes the paci is all that works. My first two had them but my 3rd didnt He sucks on his security blanket. He always had it so it was easy for him to self soothe with it. I'd hear him wake at night and fuss a bit then grab it and suck on it ~ it was perfect :) satin is the best

izziebo - 270 days ago.
does any one here NOT have a dummy/pacifier for their baby? if so how did baby cope when getting weened of breast feeding? im only asking as im probabyl gonan have to stop feeding my daughter myself soon as i start back at work shes 6 bmonths old and i refuse to give her a dummy i hate them (personal oppinon) its just not somethign i want to give her shes not a thumb or finger sucker either n doesnt suck to go to sleep she knows you go to sleep on your own any tips? xxx

RobinG - 270 days ago.
Great idea ~ you do know though that this site is also for once the baby is born up to 36 months or so :) Many of us stay right here and stay in touch :) go to left column and click link that says 'babies' :) there's month by month and forums etc just the same as pregnancy :) A facebook group has also been added too :)

erose - 270 days ago.

I have the Mirena for almost the past year, and have been finished nursing for two months and haven't really had a period yet. My doctor said that it is very common to cease having your period while you are on it, so I have not been concerned.

jaydsmom - 272 days ago.
I have the Mirena have only had it for 2 months but haven't gotten my period yet. Just a bit of spotting here and there.

mandapnda025 - 273 days ago.
Question for anyone who has the Mirena IUD. Has anyone expeirenced their periods completely stopping. I have had mine in a year now and my peried has not come yet. The last time it did it was just mild brown spotting which is normal for me but the abnormal part was it didn't even last a whole day and now it hasn't come at all. I read that after a year it can be normal and happen but to also call my doctor if it does. Just curious how common it is before i go rushing to call my doctor. Thanks

RobinG - 273 days ago.
Just curious if anyone here has had a child with sensory issues or any issues that used the brushing technique and if it was effective :) TX!

mari2625 - 276 days ago.
omg i cant get my 13 mo old to sleep in his crib..he loves to sleep with us in our bed and it would not be an issue but kind of a small bed. i have tried putting him to sleep first and then moving him and also tried giving him a bottle in his crib nothing seems to work...

luvbeingamom - 277 days ago.
izzie - If there is a known allergy in your family i would def hold off giving them that food until they are older. Once they are older i am sure they can do an allergy test for her instead of haivn to have a bad reaction that can be life threatening.

izziebo - 277 days ago.
im just wondering what the liklihood of my daughter been illergic to potasium based foods like i am i cant eat banana or mango etc it makes my lips and my mouth swell up and ulcerate n i dont wanna subjkect amy to that but i do wanna try giving her finger foods she loves sucking on carots etc but dcnt really eaty them as shes still got no teeth

bndlofjoy - 278 days ago.
momentfrozenintime, thanks for your info. I think a bassinet might work too. I didn't want to spend the money on one, but to get some sleep I would do just about anything. The letting her cry thing is my down fall, I can't stand to see her upset so I swoop in right away and snuggle her. But I know that I shouldn't, she just needs to know I'm there.
