Babies need to have their eyes, ears and noses cleaned just as they need any other body part to be cleaned. However, care should be taken when cleaning the eyes, nose and ears of a baby.
To clean your baby's eyes, use moistened cotton balls and wipe from the inside of the nose outwards. To avoid infection, use a fresh cotton ball for each eye. You can clean your baby's eyes with a wet washcloth during bathtime as well. If your baby is sick and her eyes are crusted shut, apply a warm, wet washcloth over her eyes until the crust softens. Do not try to force her eye open.
When cleaning your baby's ears, remember to never put anything small into their ear. Putting cotton swabs, fingers or other devices in your baby's ears is dangerous and not recommended. To clean your baby's ears, simply use a washcloth and wipe their outer ear off. Do not try to clean the inside of his ear. There is no need to clean the internal areas of your baby's ears because they are self-cleaning. If you try to remove wax from your baby's ear, you will more than likely pack it deeper inside of the ear. If you notice a wax accumulation or if there is a foul smell coming from your baby's ears, notify their pediatrician for further advice.
Just as you would not clean the inside of your baby's ears, you should not need to clean the inside of your child's nose. The nose is also self-cleaning and it does not require any special cleaning. If you notice a discharge from your child's nose, simply wipe with a tissue or soft cloth. Do not stick cotton swabs, twisted tissues or your finger inside of the nose to attempt to remove anything. Doing so will push the matter further into the nose and you may scratch your baby's membranes. If your child has a lot of mucus from a cold, it is safe to use a nasal aspirator to get the secretions out.

My little boy was 3 weeks old when he got an eye infection in one eye and the Dr. told us to wash his eye out with breast milk every time I fed him, sounded weird, I know!. It actually worked and cleared up within 2 days.
