OMG I think thats a bit over priced on here. I work at Wal-mart thankfully 10% discount will come in handy, I particularly work in the infants department quite often and know for a fact that this is a bit off.

AMK1984- yeah i love my day care, and like i said in my earlier post i'm indian so they pay for most of it, i only pay $80 a month which is great compared to $460 a month, honestly i feel for the people who don't have assitance. Yeah i can see how it can be expensive, never really thought about utilities and stuff like that especially since right now i'm supplying everything cause my baby is only 4 months old (formula, diapers, wipes etc.) but i do know as they get older they actually feed them and provide activities for them.

amandac - no offense taken, i just wanted to clarify lol. My mom charges about $115. The baby cost calculator figures $75 a week. I know its easy to overlook alot of the expense. You think they are just watching my kid why is it so much, but once you start to think of all the CPR certifications, and playground equipment and decent meals, also air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. It gets very pricey to run an actual daycare center. I hope you are able to find someone you can afford and someone who will take excellent care of your child/children!

AMK1984 - sorry if you took offense to my comment about the day cares but you say your mom charges $75 a week, i know just about every one in my town in OK cost $115 a week which is actually more than what the calculator is figuring, wow, normally stuff in OK is actually cheaper.

just wanted to throw in daycares are not 'banking' $75 a week is what this is calculating for a 6 month old, my mom owns a daycare and actually had to get a 2nd job to pay her bills, after paying her employees and covering all the overhead (electricity, food, water, toys, the safety equipment required by law ect) she doesn't even take home a paycheck. She throws all her heart and soul into providing a safe place for children even though she isnt making a dime.

Wow, the first time i filled this out it said $6,856 but then i went back and changed the day care from 5 days a week to 1 day a week which he goes 5 days a week but since i'm Indian and live in OK the indians pay for most of it and i changed it to 1 day a week and it changed to $2,856. Day cares be banking but i don't understand how come they don't pay their workers any better.

2ndbabe~ Actually I find many many baby items are cheaper in the UK than the US (even after the awful conversion rate, I live in the UK but am still paid in dollars...). Also, since you have national health care you don't have to worry about how much it is going to cost you just to give birth!

ha ha maybe useful if you live in the usa but I'm from England and looking at the prices its a lot more expensive to have a child over here - so make the most of it you lucky lot :)

This would be great if we were able to change the currency but convert that to Aussie dollars then it don't look as good, LOL

Hmmm... this thing probably isn't the best way to budget, just did it again with two small changes that more than doubled my original amount... think I'll stick to my own budget for now, lol.

Not as bad as I thought it would be... my husband and I actually have budgeted more than double the amount showing and most of the items I checked off will be covered from our baby shower, looks like smooth sailing with finances, now hopefully we have a healthy, happy baby!!

4,800? Not as bad as I was expecting... and hopefully I will get a few things on a shower or hand-me-downs. :D

This forum cracks me up.. Its totally a guesstimate thing.. If they were to break it down and give price ranges for the items it would be way more accurate... But its fun to play around with..
