Aloe Vera is safe to use and can offer some relief from diaper rash. To make your own Aloe baby wipes (it’s easy, not to mention cheap) check out: http://www.aloeplant.info/aloe-for-diaper-rash-2/

few things I've picked up that work: -Totally smear on the white stuff, generic desitin -let his butt be naked as much as possible -twice daily butt soaks of 10 min -mix lotrimin (otc athletes foot cream), and hyrodcortisone cream use on araes that look like yeast rashes (red/blotchy/circular) -rinse wipes out with warm water before using -add probiotics to bottle (natural yeast killer) but takes a few days, good prevenative though Just thought I'd share things that worked for me, good luck..take the diapers off!

My daughter is 7 months old and has had problems with diaper rash since she was 6 weeks old. She gets the yeast rash, which I have been treating with Canesten cream (works really well). The problem is that after the yeast rash is gone, she gets a bleeding contact rash that takes about a week to clear up, then the yeast rash comes back. I have tried everything...new diapers, changing to soy, creams etc. The soy milk seems to have made her poop more uncomfortable and the bloody rash just won't go away. I am going to switch back to the regular formula but just don't know what to do. I am not using wipes and stopped solids altogether to eliminate the chance of any allergies. I don't know what to do...any suggestions?

Hi, I just use breast milk as medication to my son's [ diaper rash. I squirt a small amount of milk then damp it on the affected area with clean fingers.

Okay girl, I know exactly where you are. My daughter is now 17 months, I BF her but when I introduced `solids` to her at about 5 months, she had this horrible diaper rash that would bleed at times. I tried every brand of diaper including cloth and the chloirne free ones, ointment, wipes, and prescription creme that the peditricion would give me. We tried letting her bottom get air time but nothing worked. At one time the doctors had me putting 5 different cremes on at every diaper change. It was just silly that they thought the last three cremes were even touching her skin. Plus the cremes burned the open bleeding sores. I kept asking them about the possibility of food allergies and they completely dismissed it. My son also has food allergies and they knew it and still dismissed the idea. She also got really bad eczema around her mouth, which they blamed on her pacifer. Finally fed up, I stopped listening to our doctors and followed my gut instinct. By eliminating foods from her diet, I discovered on my own that tomato caused the eczema around her mouth as well as a bleeding rash and pea`s and green beans caused a bleeding rash. However it did not ever completly clear up and still would bleed from time to time. Finally I took her to an allergist and had her tested. Turns out she has a long list of food allergies, including rice which explained her starting the rash when we started baby rice cereal. I have discovered that rice is in almost every baby food snack and cookie. But the majority of her allergic reactions cause a bleeding diaper rash. A few others give a bleeding rash along with other things such as a head to toe rash or rashes on other body parts. But since i have eliminated the problem foods her bottom has been fine. If your daughter does have a food allergy especially to milk then you will have to be very careful about reading food labels. I have many food allergies and dairy is one of mine. it can be avoided but you will have to read EVERYTHING. Anyway, if you think it is dairy then why not eliminate it from her diet for two weeks. If her rash clears up then I`d say you found your culprit. If not I`d highly recommend having her allergy tested. And your daughter`s doctor may not be any help or support you at all. Ours told me that I shouldn`t bother because if it was a food allergy she was likely to out gorw it anyways. But she had a rash from 5 months until I finally had her allergy tested at first at 13 months and then we didn`t find it all so we had to go back for a second round at 15 months. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I can give you my email address too if you want. It was such a relief after finding out the list of foods to avoid. A great burden was suddenly gone. I only wish I would have had her tested sooner. Oh besides the food allergies she is sensitive to diapers and wipes and rash ointments. I have found she tolerates diapers: Luvs, and the chlorine free brands (Seventh Generation and Earths Best). The only wipes we can use are the pampers sensitive, NOT the huggies sensitive apparently there is a difference. When i open a new package of wipes, i take the wipes and wash them out in the sink. You`d be surprised at how many soap bubbles come out. She also didn`t do well with desitin original or creamy. I use something called Triple Paste. It costs A LOT more, but she can tollerate it. however it doesn`t clear things up if she eats something on her list. But I think it may at least protect it from rubbing on the inside of the diaper. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Don`t hesitate to send me a note.

Hi All! i used liquid malox on my son's diaper rash and it helped a lot. i guess it depends on the type of rash. my son's was due to the change in acidity in his urine. a parent at the daycare i used to work at had used that with her son. so i gave it a shot and it worked!

Hi Heather. You poor thing!! One of my twins had a rash that just wouldn't go and I finally took him to the doctors and she gave me an antifungal cream which sorted it almost straight away. I hope your baby's botty is as easily sorted.. the poor wee mite. Good luck with solving the problem. I agree with Bri and think that heading back to the doctors might be a good plan. All the best!

Heather, I would call the doctor back. The prescription I got for my son when he had a yeast infection cleared within a couple doses. My Husband's cousin's baby also had a severe rash because of the meds he was on for pneumonia. The doctors were awful and just said it was a side effect but he had had it for two months. I spent him one of our tubes and his was cleared within a couple days! I would see if the doctor had something else they can give your baby. i totally forgot what ours was called because it's been over a year but there are meds that can clear up a bad rash within a couple doses. In the meantime keep up with the ointments and keep baby's bum dry. Oh and lay a towel on the ground and give baby some 'air time'. It helps keep baby's bum dry and clean. My son loved it when he had a rash....well he loves being naked anyways. HAHA!

I can't get rid of my daughters rash. She has had one for over a month. It has gotten so bad at times that it bleeds. I have tried everything I can think of. We have even gotten a prescription from a dr. That cleared it up somewhat. I don't know what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions?

when my kid was in the nicu when he was first born he had a horrible rash from what he was on. and they would blow dry his bottom everytime.. lol. and he loved it i dont know if he would now. and then when he was 8 months old he had another horrible rash from teething and his dr gave him buttbalm. which you can only get from a dr its a couple different butt creams mixed together worked like a charm. my mom says that a warm bath with baking soda also helps.

My daughter has yeast on her butt. She has been on a few antibiotics for her ear infection. Needless to say she now has yeast. My ? is... can the yeast go to her tongue? Her tongue has white spots on it. We go to the dr on Thurs to get her 2cd Flu shot and to check her ears. She has had diarrhea and that caused a bad rash. We got rid of the rash but yeast is still there. She is running around nude and that has got the rash to go away BUT this nasty yeast... Any suggestions? She has the Nystatin BUT her yeast has open places on it and it burns her.

madisonsmomma - 1573 days ago.
almost like Nikolle's, my doc told me over the phone to give equal parts Lotrimin, Hydrocortisone and Bacitracin. Hydrocortisone for redness, Lotrimin for yeast and Bacitracin for bacteria.

so this is the best kept secret! i use to have rediculously bad diaper rash when was a baby...and just so have it so does my son at times....i tried EVERYTHING...nothing really worked...or it was going to take a long tme...hear me our ladies! take corn startch...cheap mabye a dollar...put it in a frying pan and turn the heat on high....use a wooden spatula or whatever..and for about 20-30 minutes...keep the cornstartch from sticking to the bottom or burning...it will turn a slight brownish color...let cool and apply to baby bottom...after 2-3 changes...diaper rash gone! an older doc told my mom this method and wow does it work. by heating up the cornstartch and only cornstartch, the chemical composition is changed and heating it takes out the moisture...at any rate...it works...

The best thing I have found for diper rash is Aquaphor Healing Ointment. It is wonderful. Will take away the rash right away. I don't know what I would do without it.. My Doctor told me about it and gave me some samples, I went out the next day a bought a tube...It is made by Eucerin. The first sign of a rash I put it on my little guys tush and it is gone right away. I just thought I would share what works for my little guys the best.

HI MOMMIES, I HAVE A QUESTION. HAS ANYONE HERE DEALT WITH SOMETHING CALLED 'TODDLER'S DIARRHEA'? MY SON HAS HAD DIARRHEA FOR 2 MONTHS NOW AND ALONG WITH IT IS A HORRIBLE DIAPER RASH THAT WON'T GO AWAY. MY PED SAID IT'S MOST LIKELY 'TODDLER'S DIARRHEA' AND TO TRY A LITTLE METAMUCIL IN HIS SIPPY FOR A WEEK TO SEE IF IT FIRMS THINGS UP. THE RASH WON'T GO AWAY UNTIL THE DIARRHEA GOES AWAY. HE'S MISERABLE AND I'M AT MY WITS END TRYING TO GET RID OF THIS. I'VE ALREADY TRIED BINDING FOODS, EVERY SINGLE RASH CREAM CONCOCTION YOU CAN IMAGINE, LETTING HIM RUN DIAPERLESS (WHICH HAS BEEN EXTREMELY MESSY), AND PRESCRIPTION OINTMENTS FOR A POSSIBLE YEAST INFECTION. HELP!!! NOTHING IS WORKING!

Nikolle - 1672 days ago.
My daughter had a rash that woudn't go away (over week)...I tried cornstarch, A&D ointment, Vasaline and letting her run around nude. Then I read that if there are red spots that could mean yeast. So I took her in and the doctor told me to pick up some over the ocunter stuff. One part hydrocortizone and one part lotramin (for athletes foot). It has been two days and the rash is practically gone.

so i have a rescription for my baby's rash but it's getting worse there was blood on her bum this morning so i think i'm gonna take her to a medical clinic today I feel like such a horrible mom looking at her little bum. I'm gonna leave her out of diapers for today and see if it helps. Poor baby!!

MRSFLO - 1691 days ago.
My son has had a nasty rash for about 2 weeks now. I've tried every sort of rash ointment on the shelf and nothing has worked. I've also been given a prescription for a yeast rash, which also hasn't wiped it out. My Dr. has called in another prescription called silver sulfadiazine cream. Have any of you mommy's heard of this for diaper rashes or has anyone used it before? Thanks for any input.
