A great first foods cookbook I have found is called First Meals by Annabel Karmel. The recipes are very simple and go from 5 months to 8 years old. There are also nutritional guidelines and lots of information in it. Wyatt has loved everything I have tried and that speaks for itself! I like it a lot because it has simple receipes for a lot of fruits and veggies that I would never have thought to try and thats what I was looking for.

PITA WRAPS - I think thats what they are called. They are the round wrap things that you can find either in the produce section or the refrigerator section of the grocery store. I buy the whole wheat ones. I have done a couple of things with these. I've added tomato sauce and shredded cheese, pureed sweet potatoes and shredded cheese, boiled veggies and sauce, etc... Then I microwave for 15 seconds, fold in half and cut up to little grabbable sections. Loves them. He eats them so fast I doubt he even knows what hes eating. Sometimes I even just tear up little pieces to give him if he is waiting. Very quick and easy!

For Wyatt I go by the simpler the better. I dont add spices or anything yet because I want him to enjoy the natural tastes and not demand sugar. Here are some things that I find he loooooves, and of course in my time crunch are easy easy easy!! SWEET POTATOES - I boil 2 or 3 at a time and puree some and cut some up in cubes. I boil for a long time so they are really soft and I can leave the chunks big for him to be able to pick up and mush easily (he only just got his two bottom teeth). I store the extra in an ice cube tray with a cover so I can easily pop one or two cubes out for a quick side later in the week. FROZEN VEGGIES - My child is probably not the norm but veggies are his favorite right now! He particularly loves frozen carrots and broccoli. I boil them for a long time so they are soft. I held off on the corn for awhile because it made me nervous that they are tough and cant easily be smooshed, but I gave in and he handles it fine. I get very nervous (I'm sure unnecessarily sometimes) about choking hazards!

I hope people come to this forum I want ideas! My son is 11 1/2 months and we recently stopped the pureed Gerber foods because he loves real food so much! I have done a lot of internet research on good fingerfoods to start and how to give variety and stuff, but I found its more fun to experiment! Of course, with working fulltime and a long commute, time is a huge factor in my preparations so I am always looking for ideas. I am going to post things I have tried and what works and doesnt so I hope people join in or comment on my page!!

I just discovered the Hunter LOVES golden delicious apples. I like to give them to him in tiny pieces to pick up. Would be much easier if I could cut a bunch up and store for the day but I dont want to add lemonjuice or sugar to them to keep from turning. Anyone know if another juice will work, like pear juice or something or plain water

Robin - Try Bertilli's (spelling?) They make pastas and sauces. You will find it in the refrigorated section of the store (not witht he pastas. They have great pasta and sauces. Not always as good as the NY/NJ Italian deli's but it is pretty good.
