Our Pedi told us that my daughter was no longer contagious once she got the rash. It lasted about a day.

Okay I am pretty sure that my 21 month old has this. She had a high fever 105 and when I took her to the doctor they couldn't find anything wrong after running several tests. The next day she had diarrhea in the afternoon evening and the rash started on her back and stomach. By the next day it was on her face and neck and bottom. She has really been itching her head and behind her ears. But it is really fine like the pictures they show on the chest it's not scary and painful looking like the other poor kids face. I called the ped to let them know and they said the rash should go away in 1 to 2 days and that if it wasn't gone by tomorrow then I needed to bring her back in to be sure it wasn't something else. They also told me to keep her away from other kids until the rash is gone. But I keep reading that she shouldn't be contagoius after the fever is gone. Anyone know how long the rash really lasts? And is she really contagious after not having the fever for 3 days?

Grace was just diagnosed with Roseola, she is 17 months. It has been a rough week, the high fever scared me too, she was miserable and lost two pounds from not eating enough! Then the fever finally broke after 5 days but a cough and then the rash came. Hopefully the rash won't last too long. I just wanted my normal little girl back!!!

My son had roseola at around 8 months. It scared me because of the high fever. However, after two days, the fever went away and the rash showed up. Once the fever was gone though, he just acted normal and was happy. Don't be too scared, it will all be okay. :)
