I'm still breastfeeding my girls who are now 8 months old!!!! I can say that I have received ZERO support. Everyone, including my husband and former La Leche League leader mom tried to get me to quit and even last night my husband took them and gave them a bottle and had a talk with me about quitting. But the girls are just happy nursing. They are of course eating baby food now and my husband gives them a bottle every once and a while, but they still love their boobies. It's definitely been the hardest thing I've ever done because they were 6 weeks early, 4 lbs 1 oz and 4 lbs 2 ozs, and were in the NICU where I was NOT allowed to breastfeed them. I love looking at my little angels doing what God intended. It's truly the most wonderful experience in the world.

I agree with abcsmommy - BF twins is the only way to go! My girls were born almost 2 months early, so I experienced the pumping, making and washing bottles. I don't think I would have kept as much of my sanity as I have so far if I wasn't nursing. I couldn't imagine all the extra work - I mean, really, we've got twins~ Who's got time for extra work! (My girls are now 4 months old and can drain a boob in about 5-7 mins - NO time at all!)

My girls will be 6 months old on the 14th. They have been exclusively breastfed with the occasional bottle while out up until a couple of weeks ago. I now give them 1 bottle a day and am just starting to give them 2 bottles of formula as I would like to wean them between 6 and 7 months. I am weaning them as I would like to get my body back etc but to be honest, I can't imagine the last 6 months any other way. Breastfeeding (other than while out) is sooooo much easier. They are fed at the same time and after the first couple of weeks only took 12- 15 minutes to feed and since they were 3- 4 months old only take 6-8 minutes per feed. It is so fast and easy. I am dreading the bottles, mixing the formula, cleaning, added expense of formula for 2 so please, if you want advice or support message me. I am all for breastfeeding twins!!! Go Mamas!!!

Hi there everyone, I just thought I'd check out this section of the site as I breastfed twins 8years ago. I just wanted to say to everyone here that you should all be very proud of feeding your babies whether it be exclusive or mixed, and if you feel like you can do more but need suport demand it and if it's getting to much give yourself a rest. My boys were four weeks early and I had complications that ment my milk didn't come in till a week after they were born, which ment they had to have top up feeds with formula as one had low blood sugar at birth and the other started to loose to much weight. I found once my milk came in that I wasn' supported to switch back to exclusive breastfeeding and had to seek help from a breastfeeding councilor, which was great and in no time at all we were in the swing of it, but for a while there I felt very alone. I managed to feed them untill they were 4 months exclusivly and then introduced formula while we were out as I couldn't feed them discreatly anymore and I could never express. In the end my darling son's looked up at me one day at approx 6months old as if to say 'mummy put it away!! we don't want that anymore.' and so with that I did and they never would take me again. It was an interesting ( I could've lived without the mastitis) and wounderful experience feeding them, and I can only hope it will be as rewarding with the little brother I'm soon to give them. Please feel free to msg me any questions I'd love to help if I can in any way and if not I hope my brief story is of some reasurance to those strugling.
Take care and don't forget to feed yourself as well as you would feed the baby, you need your energy to.xxx

I'm nursing my 4 mo twin girls and also pump and give them bottles. My girls are still very tiny so I've had to feed them bottles after nursing during the day. I can definitely say these first few months have been the hardest months of my life. My husband is deployed and it's been me and my five kids under 10. The oldest helps out alot, but I've had a rough time. I'm sure my life would be alot easier if I gave them formula, but I've never given formula to any of my kids. For now I operate my own dairy farm for my beautiful twin girls.
