Working Mothers

How can I balance home life and my career?

Whether you work from home, out of the home or have your own business, you are considered a working mom. While all mothers have a lot to juggle, working mothers also have to juggle a career and all of the aspects that come along with it.

If you plan to continue working while you are pregnant, you may need to find a healthy way to balance a career and your pregnancy. A woman’s body undergoes many changes during pregnancy. Make sure to get plenty of rest and take frequent breaks throughout the day to put your feet up or have a healthy snack. Caring for your baby also means caring for yourself during pregnancy.

Something that many new mothers face is whether or not to continue working after the birth of their child. Because this is a very personal decision and can be based on many factors, there is no cut and dry answer for this. While some women choose to stay home with their children after they are born, other women either need to or choose to work after the birth of their child.

Juggling home life and a career may seem stressful to some. Getting settled into a routine is a good way to lower the day to day stresses that can occur. Some working mothers find that a nanny or a housekeeper are helpful for balancing home life and career.

Here, you may find other mothers who are dealing with the same challenges. Feel free to ask questions and provide advice with other working moms.

Hi, I am making money at home completing surveys online. So far i have made around 267$ this month. It is not that much, but it helps with some bills. Try it out and see if it can work for you: http://www.cashcrate.com/1381620

I do home parties with Vault Denim selling designer jeans up to 50% off retail. I can even do it while I am pregnant because they have maternity jeans. They also off maternity leave for 2 months. I love this company.

My cousin recently told me about the program at http://savingmorethanbefore.com At her recommendation I signed up for their sampler program and I have to share the amazing results with everyone. Using this program last night for the first time, my husband and I had an overflowing cart of groceries and non food general items. In all it rang up to $538.16 but thanks to this program we only paid $ 32.88! We weren't the only ones shocked, the cashier's mouth dropped. It is literally about paying pennies on the dollar for everything!

I am a little confused on what to do right now. I work with adults with disabilities and it can be at time hard work. There is alot of lifting and can be stressful at times. Right now i work at the day program but i was thinking about dropping down where i would work with the adults for only 3 hours then do housekeeping for the rest of the day. But the house keeping job is less pay. Im not really sure what to do?

I have a question? Has anyone on here used www.greataupair.com I have heard such great things about them, and was wondering if anyone had ever used their services before? Thanks, Erin

Katec - Life happens and there no need to feel guilty or misleading because of your pregnancy. Your situation happens more frequently than you think. Wait until you are comfortable telling them. I waited until I passed the first trimester. My pregancy occurred right after our company was aquired and I had major projects lined up. My pregnancy was a complete surprise. Bad timing on the job front but all worked out fine. My baby is nearly seven months old. My boss was wonderful and very supportive. It all works out.

I have just been relocated by my employer to another state for work and my company has paid a lot of $$ to cover my relocation expenses. I started the job 2 weeks ago and just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant. I had no intention of getting pregnant when I accepted the job and now I don't know how or when to tell my boss. How are they going to react? There is no way I will loose my job but I am very uncomfortable with having accepted the job and the relocation package, etc and then announcing I am pregnant! Any advice?

Hi Im 5 weeks pregnant with my 5th child, I manage to work 30 hrs a week as a care worker in a maternity hospital, Think I might take a break after this baby, I said this last time as i hate not to work, feel I have to do my bit, more so as i keep having children lol

southern-mama2011 - 1029 days ago.
I'm 7 weeks pregnant, but the stress at work, fatigue, and all of my body changes have started making me feel extremely anxious and uneasy. I felt that this wasn't safe or healthy, so today I asked my supervisor to cut my schedule by 8 hours. So now I'm working 2 full days, and 3 half days. Did I do the right thing? I feel that I did the right thing for me and my baby...especially since I'm high risk.

Hi there! I am a SAHM of a 19 month and with a team of really great women. We represent a health and wellness company who maufactures organic or 'green' products. These produts are less toxic and much safer for you and your family. The company is in its 25 year of business and is accredited with the Better Business Bureau who gave us an A+ rating. We do NOT SELL the products. We advertise and market for the company all from the comfort of our home. You can put in as many hours as you have available. This position would be great for another SAHM or even someone who has a full time job or is in school. A computer with high speed internet and a phone capable of making long distance phone calls is required. Some of the duties we perform are making phone calls, setting appointments, placing ads, light data entry etc. We are looking for a few hard working, motivated and dependable people to join our team. This is not a get rich quick scheme and I will not promise you $$$. We are 100% for real and have helped so many families. If you are interested in a legit opportunity to work from home for a company full of honesty and integrity, please contact me for more information

I have a questio for everyone. We have decided that i will return to work in july, We will trial it for 3 months and see how it works for us. My work is just over an hours bus ride and hubbies work is even further away about 1.5 hours away. We need to put paige into child care 3 days a week. Do you think It would be better for me to place her in a centre that is close to work so she is near by while i am at work or place her a center close to home so she does not hae to travel. we have family near by that would be able to pick her up if she got sick and I was not able to get her right away. I actually feel sick about leaving her at a day care centre but iknow that me returning to work will mean a better future for my family

gamermommy- that is absolutely ridiculous! you should talk to corporate or something, if I were you I would not stand for that.

gamermommy - 1121 days ago.
hey girls, just need some advice... i'm 15 weeks pregnant... i'm tired all the time, i start work at 8 and i would be nodding off by 11... i'm having a really hard time working so i talked to my boss... i asked about working from home sometimes so i can take a quick nap (half the ppl in my office work from home 2-3 days a week, the company pays for our internet at home b/c they encourage telecommuting) but i was told i can't and that if i need a nap, i can either sleep in my car or drive home and come back (which would be an hour of commute back and forth, not to mention gas...) so i was just wondering if you guys think this is acceptable... personally i feel a bit discriminated because 100% of my work can be done at home, others can work at home whenever they want while i'm being asked to sleep in my car?!?!

MOMMYOFDEUCE - 1124 days ago.
I am one who believes that if a mom wants to stay home during their entire pregnancy and after, they should be able to-- effortlessly. Home business today, is so different than before. I train people every day to do exactly what I did to never have to return back working for anyone. I spent 14 years in dentistry, left because I had to be put on bed rest during my pregnancy. I built my own business from home-- while bedridden. http://budurl.com/n62e

well now baby Terrance is 3 months. I went back to work when he was 7 weeks old and it was so hard. I found myself in the ladies room crying because I missed him so much. Day 2 as he went to the sitters I hugged him really tight told him mommy loves him and went to work. I went and got his pictures taken when he was 6 weeks so I kept his picture in my back pocket for the next 3 weeks while at work so when I missed him I could see his face and I was ok.

After having my daughter I went back to work at 6 weeks PP. It was so hard but I have to work. It gets easier with time, having a good daycare/babysitter is crucial also! I had so many issues with the daycare I had my daughter in, once I found a babysitter I trusted and respected I felt so much more comfortable dropping her off. Good Luck!

so.in.love - Everyone has a different situation, please don't feel bad about having to work, I returned to work when my little girl was 2.5mths old i was lucky that I could take her with me ( I tried working from home was to hard)she then went to child care. My Boy was 3thms when I sent back to work, and now I am having my 3rd and I will return to work as well. My Boy ( who is nearly 14yrs) goes to private school and plays lots of sport and is very busy so I needed to go to work to pay for his schooling and activities, but also so we could not afford to live with out me working, paying the bank for our home and just eating, let alone all the other bills. The time when I am home with my kids is the greatest, we do heaps, we have a wonderful family life ( I have a messy house hehe but who cares!!!) We eat our dinner all together we always wait for Dad! It has to work for you and yours, no one should judge working parents, we would all love to be around playing house but if you can't you can't and if you have the right child care your kids blossom before your eyes, their social skills are amazing, the are shown so many things sometimes you can't show them at home. So don't think of it as a minus think of it as a positive both for yourself and your little one. xxxx OG

i am going back 2 work april 15th and i am not sure wether i should be happy are not. i miss work but i feel like i did not get enough time to spend with my newborn :( but at the same time its needed because of my financial situation. and on top of that i am thinking about looking for a 2nd job. any one this situation??????

mountainmama - 1202 days ago.
hey working mamas!! not too much action on here, guess that's because we are all sooooo busy. lol. work at our jobs and then work at home. i haven't been on here in ages. babyshoes--i hear ya!! i hate working & wish i could be a stay at home mom too. the first year was the worst, but now it's a bit easier (my daughter is 19 months old now & i've been back at work since she was about 3 months old) we're hoping that i can stay at home with the next one (which will be a few years off) but no guarantees. bringing my daughter to daycare has been and continues to be a struggle. at least as she has gotten older i can tell she looks forward to going and that's a little bit reassuring.
