My son is 15 months and I'm thinking of starting to potty train him. He shows some signs of readiness. He never stops eating and has blow outs frequently. With my morning sickness and nausea from this pregnancy, diaper blowouts are just not working out. is it too soon to start potty training him at 15 months old?

military mom...my son is a year now and just trying new foods...maybe put a little melted cheese on it untill he grows accustom to the taste..just a suggestion ..but i know how fustrating it can be..even though hes trying new foods slowly...we still have to give him puree ...everyone is different in their own pace ..godd luck

MilitaryMom - 318 days ago.
So far I had not had any success with that stuff. In fact, at daycare if they are eating stuff that he doesn't like he will reach over and dump the other kids’ plates. Funny to think about it, but not good at all. I have tried to sneak other foods any way I can think of... I’ve even threatened for him to go to bed... it works temporarily, but the next day... same thing. It is so frustrating; I just want him to eat.

MilitaryMom - 319 days ago.
I need some help! I have a 20 month old son and i cannot get him to eat many foods. He will eat hotdogs, Mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, fish sticks. I cannot get him to eat anything healthy, the crazy thing is, if you give him a green bean, he will throw it on the floor, he won't just leave it alone, he has to get it off of his tray. But you can feed him green bean baby food and he will eat it just fine. I find this to be frustrating, and i JUST want him to eat a few more things. It makes daycare stressful for me because I know that he probably isn't eating most of the time, then he comes home and i feel the need to give him whatever he wants. I would feel HORRIBLE to send him on to bed if he won’t eat what I put in front of him, I just don’t know how to get him eating all the things he should...

My son is 27 months and he is getting potty trained now!, a couple months ago he was going to the big toilet, and then he would scream and cry and throw fits because he wanted to wear diapers. (I think its because he baby brother was wearing them), so then we got off tract and started wearing diapers again...Now we jsut started a couple days ago again... i dont put him in pull ups, and they to him would feel like diapers and gives him another reason to go in the pull ups... i put him in uderwear right away...and used 3rd parties and saying like 'riley, and jackson go on the big potty because they are big boys, you are a big boy too, and you go on potty too'... if he asks for diapers, i tell him i dont have any more diapers and they are only for babies, and then he answers back with 'BIG'...in saying he is a big boy!!...altough we are putting him in diapers for night time, but not for naps, and when he wakes up we go to potty right away....he does say pee when he needs to go potty, ybut i never ask him if he needs to go, i just pick him up, and tell him 'okay its potty time' and he usually wants to race to the toilet....lol Last night was our first time going out of the house without a diaper on, (i brought an extra set of clothes and underwear, just in case... we went to three stores, and we're out for about 2 hours, and he went pee 3 times!!! one at each store. lol Maybe if you take him quite often like every 30 min, he will get the idea, altough he does have trouble with going number 2 in the toilet., so we are working on that.... but i never get mad or agrey if he does make an accident, this is a learning process, and accidents are bound to happen. But he always wants to to be in there with him and put him on the potty too, its when he is naked that he will go on by himself. lol...it is still a working progress for us as well so i am looking forward to the responses to your post!! i know i might not have been a lot of help, but just wanted to tell you about my experiences potty taining as well.

I need advice on toilet training. My 2.5 yr old has been using pullups and I've been putting him on the potty for a few months now. He will go to the toilet when I put him on a lot of the time, but he doesn't ever hop on voluntarily and often protests. He never tells me he wants to go and if I don't put him on he'll happily just do it in his nappy pants. Where do I go from here? Do I push harder i.e. try moving him on to undies, or back off and wait for him to want to go?

My daughter is 26 months and she has been like that since she turned 1. I was told that it is a phase and as long as she is getting enough fluids not to worry too much she will start eating again when she is hungry.

loving*my*life - 358 days ago.
ok so my almost 3 year old is not eating!! we have been dealing with this since she was 18 months old she had gained 7 pounds since then but thats losing some too. from nov to jan she has lost 5 pounds! she will eat 1 thing everyother day if we are lucky! her dr is sending her to have a test ran! but everyone keeps saying its just a phase! her dr said it could still be but its been going on for along time and shes losing too much weight!!* What do you guys think??

Just saw my post and i typed porper toilet. I meant proper toilet. Lol.

mum2b2jj - 516 days ago.
@keyonsmami. Hi. I am going through the same thing with my 2 yr old. She loves sitting on the potty, but rarely does anything when i keep putting her on it. We have had a few accidents, but i think it's helped. I think it puts too much pressure on them when we keep asking them, then watching over them. Even when we're outside, they know we're waiting for them to do something. My DD has only been in knickers for 2weeks and i can count the amount of times she has actually pee'd in the potty. They're used to standing and i can tell she seemed a bit uneasy on the potty when she wanted to poo. She had the urge to stand up. But i managed to get her to sit back down. Another thing that has been quite effective; Is having my daughters potty next to the toilet. Even if i don't want to go, i'll sit down on the toilet while she's on her potty. She has a potty that's shaped like a porper toilet, with the flush function and everything. She's done most of her stuff when i sit with her. Hope this helps. Good luck x

Help!!? Im trying to train my toddler, Hes 3 1/2 years old and he just will not go potty.. Ive tried everything I can think of..If i tell him to go pee he will, but if I ask him if he has to go he always says no and runs..When he goes poo he goes in his closet an shuts the door like its the bathroom but he does not want to go in the bathroom and closes the door..I have even put the pot in the closet!! He's starting a new daycare and most of the kids his age are already trained, where as his old day care most kids his age were not.They said it wouldnt be a problem but they are gonna put him in a younger class until he's trained..He's very smart and I know he will get bored in the class..Please if anyone has any suggestions o potty training please help. :)

kathy=^.^= - 520 days ago.
mayy08 - you can always tie him up and throw him in the closet until he stops...lol... just kidding but when you figure something out please let me know. noahs fits will go on for 2 hours sometimes! some times i will ignore him and about after 20 mins of him screaming he'll stop. but that only works sometimes!

kathy=^.^= - 520 days ago.
if he is wearing undies then i would deff not put a diaper on him unless its bed time. i think that it will confuse him. i started to take my son to the potty with me when i poo and when hubby poos and for the first time yesterday he came and got me and told me he had to go. but that was only once so well see how it works out i think it just takes time!

CanadianMamaB - 522 days ago.
lisaj my daughter does the same thing! She poops in her diaper and THEN wants to sit on the toilet... it's so frustrating! But I guess it's the first step, at least she wants to sit on it... sigh.

Finally-having-our-son! - 532 days ago.
rosie it sounds like he may be going through some kind of change. Like possibly a growth spurt. Is there any kind of changes going on in the household? Is he possibly cutting teeth?

maggiek - 541 days ago.
Hi lisaj1001, Sounds like your little one is ready for potty training. My 2.4 year old daughter does the same, she hates poop in her diaper.. I have just been slowly getting her used to sitting on the potty. I don't want to force the issue. With my older boys, age 11 and 6 I totally forgot how I handled potty training with them, was so long ago....lol

lisaj1001 - 544 days ago.
Hey ladies. I hope you are doing well. I need suggestions. My 28 month old son has started showing in interest in the potty. He points to his bum and says 'I pooped' after he poops and THEN he wants to go sit on the potty. Do any of you lucky ladies who have little ones that are already potty trained (or anyone else have suggestions) on how I can get him to tell me before he goes? He knows what it is and where it is supposed to go, it is just letting me know when he has to go that is the issue. Thanks.
