csnedker9- I had an emergency c-section because my baby's head was stuck in my pelvis due to him facing up and not down. I do not feel a different 'down there', it seems to be exactly the same as before. lin -

I have a question for ladies who had an emergency c section because their baby's head was unable to exit the pelvis: due to the fact that your baby's head was (most likely) quite far down in your birth canal, did you feel loose afterwards, even though the baby never crowned, or did your vagina feel/look pretty much normal down there? i had a c sect 12 weeks ago, I sufered diabetes so couldnt go full term, i was admitted to hospital 9am on a sunday, they tried inducing me for a week (very very painful in the end & ended up on gas & air for the internal examinsations every few hours) but my lo did not want to come so a c sect was booked for the sat afternoon, I was wheeled down at 4pm, prep'd (my main concerns were.. having the epi, worried id faint during the op & the risks to my bladder, bowel etc), the medical team were lovely, the epi worked a treat, didnt hurt at all, i was given a shot for sickness - again worked a treat, I was wheeled into theatre around 4.35pm at 4.48pm James was born - even then he didnt want to come and forceps were used!. At midnight I was wheeled up to the ward, at 1am was given my anti clotting injection, then at 4am James had to go to neonatal for low blood sugars. At 8am my cathetor was removed (didnt feel a thing) and I was told i could go see my son as soon as I was ready. I was in pain getting up and standing for the first time but my determination toget to my son who i felt was alone in neonatal needing his mummy made me super strong. I walked down there - stairs and everything. My scar healed in a week when my stitches were removed. I never felt a thing during the c sect not even the tugging sensation but sil was with me talking the whole time - I did at one point (during being stitched up) get terrible shakes, my teeth were chattering and everything, but it was comical at that time and only lasted about 15 mins. My bladder and bowel are fine, my scar is healed I have never really had any pain from it, slightly sore/stiff trying to turn in bed for the first week (just like the last week in pregnancy) but overall I know if I had to have another I wouldnt be half as afraid now. The only lasting damage i do seem to have suffered if loss of feeling in the bottom of my stomach but I think that is nerve damage so might never come back - small price to pay for my son being born healthy. My scar is very neat and my badge of motherhood, i love it. msteach64 -

First baby was born vaginally after induction. Second baby was a c section because he wasn't moving no matter how much I pushed. Turned out he was sunny side up and had the cord around his neck. Day 1 - extremely nauseous. not too much pain since they gave me a nice dose of morphine before they removed the epidural. (epidural was the worst part of the whole c section procedure). Didn't meet my DS until 7 hours after procedure. Day 2 - I tried to be brave and deal with the pain. didn't work I took the motrin. Made a world of difference. Pain continued to get less with each day after that. My fellow c section friends gave me good advice. You must get out of bed and walk as soon as possible. Its the one thing that speeds up recovery and gets your intestines moving again. baby5forus(PINK) -

I have had three csections and i must say the third was not much different than the first two. I am on my fourth csection now due in february. Just make sure you get up and walk ASAP because my last baby was in NICU and they wheeled me instead of me walking, so I hurt for much longer than the first two. I know better this time. Even if the baby is a NICU baby again, I will definately be walking this time. sheridan-p -

this is my 3rd section too and i must say im more frightnened this time than the other 2!! and this anterior placenta does not help as i only found out i had it on a private scan got wait for my 5 month one to see if its over the scar or not :( i think its high tho as for 17 weeks im huge and can feel baby kicking up high i think its the risks 3rd time round that are more worrying x cowgirl -

This will be my third c-section the 1st two with no complications and I have the same concerns.
My OB-GYN assures me that's it's not going to be a problem and I have nothing else to base an opinion. What have you heard? sheridan-p -

wow so i read all this just because, i already had a c section a year in a half ago but to me they make it sound so much more unwanting then what it actually is, mine was not bad at all like i felt pressure and pulling and that didnt feel to good but other then that i dont think it was that bad.. now i didnt look at my incision for almost a week cause it sounded so gross to me and i didnt dare want to look. but i think your age has a lot to do with it also. i was only 18 so it wasnt bad but im hoping this time will be the same but im nervous! young-yummy-mummy -

tsunamimani just read you post and wanted to let you know that my mum has had 5 sections and she went and had her tubes tied on the last also. she didn't have any complications or anything from having so many except the usual loss of feeling that you get from the cutting. tsunamimami -

I'm 10weeks pregnant and this will be my 5th cesarean (I'm due December 8th). I'm nervous because I had a bad consultation then I switched doctors and now I'm a little more at ease but still nervous. I will be tying my tubes for certain after this baby is born and I'm also mentally prepared to have a hysterectomy if necessary. Has any else on here had many cesareans or know of anyone personally that has had five? 4th baby due in june -

ILU2- Don't be afraid of a c-section. i was too but it's not that bad. Maybe a week of being uncomfortable but that's it. I had 2, one with my son 2 years ago and one 6 weeks ago because of a tubal pregnancy. I was back to work as a hairsdresser 3 weeks later. My baby was over 10 lbs. and I still carried him around. lol ily2xoxo -

I am 10wks preggo with baby number 3. I have had 2 prior c-sections and am scheduled for another with this baby in late October. My daughters are 3yrs and 5yrs. Thank god for both of my c-sections I have had the best doctors ever cutting me open so thankfully i have had no complications what so ever. Both went very smoothly and closed and healed excellent. You can barely see my scar now (bikini cut) its incredible. Plus the meds they gave me to go home with afterwards ( liquid perkaset)!!!!!!!!! Let's just say I felt nothing for 2wks. lol. I'm regularly around 114pds and 5foot 1in so the docts say there was really no fat to cut through which made the c-sec easy. Even tho the past 2 went smoothly not really looking foward to this one cuz regardless of how smoothly a c-sec goes nobody wants to be cut open ever. But to see that new little face will all be worth it. mz. Baby Tyes -

I must say I had a good experience with C-section for my daughter. 24 hours after, the nurse was trying to get me to take pain meds, but I didnt feel I need it ( I was very numb, LOL) and was walking around. But she keep bugging me because she was scared I would start hurting and then would need med and explained It would take a while before it will work. Within 48 hours I was home and only took pain med 3 times. mizzbrwneyez@gmail.com -

Jenn- I just had one on the 4th. They gave me a spinal during the section, and then something else that lasts about 12 hours or so. They said I could have morphine if the pain was bad, but I just took the ibuprofen (which I had to take probably to avoid blood clots) and another drug called narco (might be spelled wrong) For me the most pain I had was while I was in the hospital, and when I got home I was able to just take the ibuprofen. It's been 2 weeks and I feel almost normal. Just itchy now. I had never had a section before with my other kids so I was pretty nervous, but now after experiencing it, it wasn't a walk in the park, but not as bad as I had imagined it. You'll feel fine after a week :) Good luck with your LO!!!
