I know it has been quite awhile since you asked, but Planet wise makes fabulous wet bags, I also just received my weehugger bag and will let you know how it works out. First impression is, it looks nothing like the photo on the swaddlebees site, but hoping the quality will make up for it. As for doubling up, try adding a hemp insert at night if you are having leaking issues.

I am on the hunt for a good wet bag, any ideas? and even though my kids are bad wetters at night should i add 2 inserts at night JIC?

My dd is2 and incompletely potty trained, but used cloth with her. I used bumGenius and loved them...they are still in good shape and will use them with my next. When she was brand new we used dispo. Diapers but at about a month went to cloth. Never had diaper rash or leaks. I only had 3 dozen and would wash 2x week. We also used some dispos. My inlaws refused to use cloth when they had her. Every little bit helps.

gina- with my son, i found at different growth stages, his diapers that were bulletproof a week before would no longer be. It may be the fit, it could be they are losing the waterproofing, or it might just be 'too much' for the diaper to handle. Try a few different styles, if you are able to & really don't want to give up cloth. I hope through trial & error you are able to find something that works!!

ok so my daughter wears just cheap ebay pocket diapers. which have always worked just great. but the last couple weeks, she has been having major 'poo-splosions' out of the diapers. and they leak and get everywhere. im pretty sure she;s just drinking too much juice. which i have cut out of her diet (sadly i only have 70% custody of her and getting her father to do ANYTHING to promote his child's health is a .......challange....to say the least) but other than keeping her in prefolds and covers all the time...any other suggestions??!? im really sick of her pooping on everything but i dont want to have to pull the plug on cloth over a couple weeks of explosions! but i am NOT dealing with this for much longer

if you like wool, i dont see why not get 1-2 of them and see. worst case they dont work really well..i dont see why they wouldnt though. i am such a cheap mama!! lol If its over $10...its too expensive! i just bought a lot of diapers that came out to $5.19 a diaper and i still felt like i was paying so much. even though i KNOW im not

Agreed. They ARE SO pricey!! But, I've got some Aristocrats, they are just 1 size & are $30ish each, so I'm thinking...if the little to big are 1 size, maybe it would be worth it? I don't know. At this point, I have quite a bit of wool, so I'm strongly considering the Kissaluvs Marvels 1 size, they are less hard on the wallet @ $17 ea. :) I'm just so excited to CD this little man! With my older son, we didn't start until he was just over 4 months. :)

ive never used the little beetles little to big'....but they have good reviews. WAY expensive though!! holy cow!!

Hi there. Wondering if anyone has any input on the 'little beetles little to big' one size wool diaper covers? I'm dying to go wool with this little one (due in 10 wks) as I wasn't brave enough last time around, but feel it's the way to go this time. I just don't want to spend a fortune on wool that I don't like!! Any input pos/neg would be greatly appreciated!! :D

i LOVE cloth diapering!! It is definitely addictive. i tried my daughters swimmi diaper on over a prefold once and i was hooked. i had to go and order diapers. i still only do prefolds and covers. i tried pockets and they suck in my opinion. we go way cheap too. i buy little-lions.com resale prefolds for about $15 a dozen and then realnappiesusa.com covers for $6 a piece. (i suck at making diapers so i dont even bother)

I have been cloth diapering for 16 years and love it! I buy one pack of disposable every mnth for those times when frequent changes aren't convenient, like trips to the zoo, etc. My fave diaper is fuzzi bunz. I mostly use good old fashioned prefolds and pins, but I have a few gdiapers and I love them! I was a full load of diapers about twice a week. We use the bucket method; a wet bucket with about 1/4 cup borax and 1/4 cup all free & clear. When the bucket is full, I just dump the whole thing in the washer.

JLea they say on average you will use 12 daipers a day... that's one every two hours and I read somewhere 6 covers per size does well. I myself am planning on at least 6-7 dozen to last me a week.

I am due in October and cant wait to cloth diaper!! I have finally narrowed down my choices to Grovia Hybrids so we have the option of disposable and Rumparooz! I am super excited about rumparooz! They claim to have NO Leaks! They have inner and outer gussets to keep in even the runniest breastfed poo! I was watching reviews on youtube earlier and one of the reviewers actually woke her daughter from a nap to change her and she had a poop-splosion and yet, it was completely contained!

MyBaby- It really is a matter of finding a system that works best for you & your baby. Some babies have chunky legs thus some diapers not being a good fit...I would buy a couple different kinds (there are literally HUNDREDS!) and try them out to see what you like best, then go ahead and get your stash! :) A few great websites are :Diaperswappers, Weebunz, and I have a TON more I can share w/you if you need! Also, check your local baby/childrens consignment shops, you can find diapers for close to nothing! Good luck! :D

I make my own detergent. If you're interested, get in touch and I'll tell you what formula I use. It's soooo much cheaper and does a great job!

Jleah, we use prefolds and tthe Bummis covers. We ahve both the Super Whisper Wrap and the Super Brites and we love them both about the same. They were cheaper for us as well. We could get away with two dozen diapers, but we have four to six dozen so that I can get away with doing diapers once a week. Prefolds are cheap enough that it is worth it for us since I work full time. We use the newspaper fold I think its called, and then pins or snappi. The hubby likes the snappi, but I like the pins. I grew up changing prefolds with pins so I was comfortable with that already. :)

One more question for anyone who uses prefolds. Do you simply lay the prefold into the cover or actually wrap the cloth diaper and pin it or use a snappy? If you pin it what folding technique do you use? I'm just wondering if one way is more efficient than the rest!

I've invested in 8 pocket diapers so far. 3 bumgenius, 3 fuzzi bunz, and 2 happy heinys....all are one size. The plan is to use these at night, when out and about, and when someone other than myself of DH will be with him. I plan on getting prefolds to use the majority of the time. I'm ordering them from Green Mountain Diapers. Any suggestions on how many newborn and small sizes I need? I believe they only come in dozens and I'm hoping 2 dozen of each size will be plenty so I can get away with washing every other day? Also, what are the best covers you ladies have used for prefolds? I hear thirties are good.

We use the 'old fashioned' prefolds and pins and don't have leaks. We use the bummis super whisper wrap or superbrite covers with them. Everything was super cheap and have gotten us through 1.5 babies. (Our second little one is in them now whereas my 2yr old is out of diapers.) We actually have gone on two trips and used the cloth for both trips away from home.

Biernacks~ Not true. My diapers don't leak (bum genius, fuzzi bunz, rumparoos, swaddlebees, blueberry, I have used alot of different brands!) and I use cloth over night with no problems. I think perhaps your book is refering to oldfashioned cloth diapers, modern cloth is so different.

Biernacks, I use bumgenius all in one pocket nappies and they don't leak... although eventually the elastic around the legs start to give when you have used them for a few years! We use disposables at night as they seem to be able to hold more pee! lol. Otherwise our cloth nappies have been brilliant for our twins. If you can borrow someone's to try or get a starter pack you should be right. I have 15 nappies for my boys and wash every second day now that they are bigger (20 months old). I am sure that it has saved us heaps with buying nappies, I know there is the argument for all the extra washing you do, etc and the cost of it and powder, etc.... but when you have babies you do A LOT of washing! Anyway, good luck!
