Ahh, I feel you on the 'not showing' bit. I'm 33 weeks, and am not really showing. I mean, yeah, my belly is bigger, but it's not noticeable to anyone who didn't know me before pregnancy, I just look especially fat. Sure, it makes me sad.. But at the same time, I'm kind of glad random people aren't coming up to me and giving me unwanted advice/trying to touch my belly/or just generally talking to me. Heck, before I was pregnant I had random people come up to me and give me advice on being pregnant. I just would laugh. But, I gain all my weight in my stomach, so I understand why people ...get confused. ♥ Good luck to you guys :)

SMARTWIFE - That happened to me yesterday. I asked a co-worker who I don't see often when she was due and then I had to explain that I was also pregnant (I am 24 weeks). The right clothing, though, really makes me look pregnant. Yesterday I just had on an oversized shirt, but when I wear the empire waist maternity clothes, you can see much more of a bump. So maybe a change in warddrobe would help? I'm trying to use it as motivation to get and stay healthy after the baby is born so I don't keep missing out on life's experiences because of my weight.

Hello ladies! Thought I would pop in lol. I was 280 in January (5'7') and started exercising. I had gotten down to 243 and suddenly felt woozy on the treadmill one morning! Turns out I was pregnant! I just turned 12 weeks today and have continued to lose weight although my doc won't let me exercise anymore due to some spotting and my risk of preterm labor. We had been trying for almost 2 years and I think I just have an ovulation weight. I didn't get a single +OPK the whole time we tried and the month I did get prego, I didn't test because I had run out of strips and decided to just give up and let nature happen. And it DID!!! My doc said she would like me to stay under a 10 lb weight gain which shouldn't be too hard. Good luck everyone!!!

Im sorry you guys' drs make you feel that way. I would find a different dr. My dr seems to be nice she hasnt said one thing about my weight or anything. Im about 4 months and havent had any problems yet my BP has been ok and such. No Dr should make anyone feel like that! We are still women with feelings haha pregnancy hormones!! Dont mess with us!! So I feel like im starting to show lol not really sure I got my fatty girl pudge that is getting more rounded. I work at a hospital and its embarrassing sometimes telling people Im pregnant coz they look at me like Oh you are!? So I always joke around and say u cant really tell yet coz im on the chunky side. I hope i start showing good soon so I dont just look FAT. Im hoping I'll start feeling the baby move soon too! Ive read too that you can hear the babies heart beat with a stethoscope between 18-20 weeks Im hoping I dont have too much 'padding' there to hear it.. and have to wait until Im further along. I see women that are small and showing and big and get kinda jealous!! Im pregnant too and ha you cant really tell yet. Anways good luck with your pregnancies ladies and those TTC.

This is my first pregnancy also. I am 24 yrs old before pregnancy weighed 291. I had actually started eating healthy and working out then found out about a month later I was almost 2 months along. So I am now 15 weeks pregnant and have lost 20 pounds down to 271. I love that lol. I was on BC since I was 16 I quit my pills and 8 months later was pregnant. I dont think you will have too much trouble getting pregnant! GOOD LUCK!!!

Neyermommy: Do you feel like time is going by too fast during your pregnancy? I do big time. I didn't lose or gain weight before getting pregnant, I got pregnant my first cycle trying. I totally don't get why doctors have to give big girls a hard time. Seeeriously, the only 'complication' I'm having is my blood pressure is high. Okay, my blood pressure wasn't high before pregnancy, but I've been really trying to take it easy.. My other OB, she says my weight gain (or lack thereof) is fantastic, and she couldn't be happier with it. I've noticed something really strange though, and I don't know if I'm the only one, but my arms have gotten really FAT. Like, my biceps are giant puddles of fat, they've never been like this before, and wow. I don't like it, I'm seriously considering making some improve dumbbells or something. I have no idea, it's ...odd. No where else got bigger (aside from belly)? It's not like I've even gained weight from pregnancy, so it's.. odd!! I dunno, haha, I have no one else to really talk to about pregnancy, my fiance doesn't know, seeing as he's a man. So I ramble here :)

Ladies- i am almost 7 months preggers, pre pregnancy I was 232 and am now around 235-240 after losing a bit in the first trimester and then gaining back. We tried for four years and experienced one miscarriage but our boy on the way is healthy and doing great! Im not sure what could have affected our fertility considering Ive had one child but was with a different guy. But I do know they say if ur big and lose some weight you'll get pregnant, well I lost weight and nothing happened then this year i got to the biggest Ive ever been and now Im pregnant. Btw to the girl who was commenting about an OB who just didnt like that she was fat, I totally get that, My doc seems like he dislikes seeing me because of my weight!

Had my perfectly healthy baby boy June 16th @ 1725, 7 lbs 12oz, 21 inches, had c-section as my pelvis wouldn't open wide enough. I wish wide hips were indicitive of wide pelvis bones, lol! My doc is awesome though and I'm healing nicely. Trying to adjust to no sleep this is my first. I thank God for this miracle and am thankful w/ pcos getting preggo 1st round of clomid. Metformin did nothing!!

gabeekeeper - I am a bit over 300lbs, and I conceived on the first try (within two weeks of stopping using protection!!) my cycles are very very regular though. I knew I was pregnant because I was one day late. If your cycles are normal, I can't see you having too much of a problem. I wish I could get a lap-band!! I've been approved for one by my provinces (free) insurance, but the waiting list is like ... a hundred years, so I stopped pursuing it. I wish you lots of luck conceiving!! ♥ (Sorry I don't have much advice on the subject, this is my first pregnancy ;D)

Hi~
I am new here and am not pregnant yet, but am TTC.
I am 39 and I currenlty weigh 221. I had the lap band in 2007 and went from well over 350 to 210,, and then I drank some milkshakes and gained back to 235... so I am now back on track with my weight loss.
I have had all my blood work and I do not have any problems. The RE gave me a green light to try for a un medicated cycle. I am using frozen donor sperm. I am CD6 and I ovulate around CD20 so we plan to inseminate at home when I am Ovulating.
I just hope that with my weight and height (5'4') that I will not have any problems.
My stomach is still big due to the over 100 pounds that I have lost. so I don't know if that will be a problem.
But I do have good blood pressure (usually 120/65)
Any suggestions on how to successfully conceive? I have never been pregnant before. I have 3 adopted children.
Thanks and I'm glad to have found a forum with plus size women.

How's everyone doing?? :) I'm at 32 weeks already, omg!! I am so nervous, and excited. I'm having a late shower on the 24th of July. I hope my little one stays in that long!! My grandma has bought me a whole bunch of really expensive baby stuff, I'm excited to get it, and set it all up. My mum-in-law has a really nice rocking chair/rocking ottoman for me, which I think will be very useful. LOL I know all about what I'm getting before I get it, but STILL, very exciting.
I had to see my one OB who I don't like for my last doctor's appointment, and she set me up for a 2nd ultrasound, on the 25 of June.. Which is super exciting, I love ultrasounds! But she wrote on my paper 'HIGH RISK' and it's like wtf, how high of a risk am I, seriously. I've had one issue, my blood pressure. I've not gained any weight. I failed my one hour glucose test, but did the 2 hour one, and have heard nothing back from the doctor's (my doc said they'll call ONLY if the result is bad), and that was a week ago. I dunno, that OB just doesn't like that I'm fat. All the tests done on the baby have come back with perfect results, and all the tests done on my cervix/etc have been 'extremely healthy' as the nice doctor I see said. So who knows, stupid mean OB. She's going on maternity leave though, so I won't have to see her anymore!! I'm onto seeing my doctor every 2 weeks, and doing my hospital tour this Thursday. I'm nervous about that. I hate hospitals, lol.
I've been super tired lately, and haven't been able to sleep long.. EXCEPT FOR LAST NIGHT, I slept for 14 hours!! Only woke up to pee once, which was awesome. My hips are really sore, but apparently that's normal. I don't have a lot of fat on my hips, so I blame that LOL, no padding to keep me comfy.
OKAY, I'm just rambling now, I hope every one is doing great, and is healthy :)

Queen-i'm 38.2 wks, I'm still 5 lbs less than prepregnancy, bigger girls don't really need to gain weight. I eat a 2200 calorie a day healthy diet, once in a great while I eat a piece of cake or something, but I prefer to keep my calories healthy ones, doc believes this is why I successfully didn't gain weigh, which is common for bigger girls anyway. I first felt my baby move about 18 wks.

Maybebaby-i have pcos and am overweightd, doc insisted I need to lose weight, blah, blah, went on weight watchers lost about 20 lbs, got preg, had a miscarriage, gained 20 back plus another 10, making me the heaviest I EVER was in my life and then got pregnant and am now 38 wks, having my boy in 1 week! :) I think it depends on the woman and man, it took a total of 10 mths for us to have a pregnancy that stuck, and that's with pcos, my sister is thin and no fertility issues and it still took her and hubby a year the first time and then 7 mths this time (she's 29 wks preg).

Hi plus size mamas, i have a question. I am overweight by too much but it is all in my hip, butt, and breast. I am working hard to get back into my workout routine and cutting out junk food. Anyways, I am trying to concieve and wanted to know if any of you had problems getting pregnant because of your weight. I have only been trying since February but I have been beating myself up thinking my weight may be the delay.

Mrsgaylonj - Yeah, for my height and stuff.. if I was a size 12 I would be slim (I'm 5'9') but I've never been that small. I carry my weight all in my upper half. I have the small butt, and muscular legs.. with the big belly and giant boobs.. and chin! >:0!! Too bad none of my eating problems worked for me LOL.. That sounds horrible to say. I don't gain weight, and I don't lose it. My body sucks! But it's okay :)
As for the pregnancy, thank you! I didn't see a clear view of between my baby's legs, but my fiance did, and the tech did. The tech said that there were no obvious male parts, so it's supposed to be a girl. I hope they were right, haha! 'Cause if not, my baby boy might have a lot of gender issues at a young age with pink clothes! (HAHA)
I wish she slept when I did! Heck, she'll be really stationary all day, only throwing a few punches when I eat, if there's music on, or if I feel sick. As soon as I lay down, the fists start flailing.
I'm especially huge now, but my belly doesn't look at all like a prego belly, I wish I could've done belly photos, but it just looks like I've gained weight. It kind of makes me sad, but I'm still very excited and happy. Even if I just look like a cow, I know I have a sweet lil baby in there that's going to make my life amazing. I can't believe I've only a little over two months left. I feel like I haven't been pregnant long enough.

Deebo-ha, I agree, formatting would be nice!! :) eating disorders are really sad, for my height and structure a 12 doesn't look 'fat', its insane to me to be considered plus size, I once was an 18 and still didn't look huge or chubby, heck, even if I would've, in the whole scheme of things, who gives a hoot?!? Anorexia I couldn't do, love food too much, bulimia is masty and I wouldn't do it again, but it worked. How demented. Anyway, congrats on your pregnancy, boy or girl? Do you know? My boy sleeps when I sleep, I don't feel him in the night, but shortly after I wake up I feel him start to stir and then about an hour after I'm up its like fireworks inside! I'm huge right now with belly, even though I didn't gain. Its not a perfectly round belly, but it definitely a prego belly. Only a couple more weeks and I get to meet my Joshua!!

I hate to hear about eating disorders. I have fought with one for a very long time. I ate once a week for waaay too long, and did the wonderful purging crap (And you know, I never really lost weight, dunno how that works). Now I'd like to say I'm over it, but I still feel so incredibly guilty about eating. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I went from eating once a day to eating three times a day. I haven't eaten this much since I was a kid! I also haven't gained weight.. I still feel like crap about food though. Especially because my clothes don't fit, but I know WHY they're not fitting.. Ugh, I dunno. It's sad to hear that so many of us struggle like this. I can't believe I'm at 30 weeks already. I feel like my pregnancy has gone by sooo fast! I'm so excited. I've noticed in the last few weeks that I've also gotten A LOT bigger, but I still don't have a cute pregnant belly. I have a hard time sleeping through her movement though, does anyone else have this problem? I mean, I'm a very light sleeper.. I wake up when I roll over as well. I think that might be because I know I'm supposed to stay on my sides. I HATE SLEEPING ON MY SIDES, ARGHH. I'm a stomach sleeper!! I can't wait to be able to do that again, hahaha. It's going to be so awesome. ALSO: I wish you could use formatting in the forums! It would make things look so much nicer, lol!

College-I totally understand, when I was in my early 20s (32 now) I suffered from bulimia, prior to becoming pregnant I was a 12 and am 5'10. Anyway, I'm just about 37 wks and haven't gained any weight at all, in fact I'm 3 lbs less. I eat small healthy meals, lots of veggies and lean proteins and whole grains. I eat about 2200 calories a day and try and stay away from cake and stuff, which is difficultan but its healthier for me and baby. If you are pregnant, you can do this! I agree talk to your doc and/or go see a nutritionist, they will help you develop a good meal plan. Good luck to you!

Well since the smoking issue came up im an ex smoker i quit 3 months before we got pregnant with our second baby, LOL yes this one was planned. But with my first i smoked the first month granted i didn't KNOW I WAS PREGNANT!!! When i found out i quit cold turkey before i had my first doctor appointment . When they asked me if i was a smoker i said i smoked for the first month and had just quit... My midwife said thats great but she was upset i quit like that because it could cause more problems for baby then stopping slow . I guess it just verys from OB to OB but i had never heard this lol.. If stress is to high like most the time mine is except when im pregnant because i could give a beep lol I got on meds for it not to mention i get postpardom depression after my babys are born and it goes to the extream which is why i go back to smoking each time i would rather go outside and smoke then hurt my children in any way i calm down and come back and can deal with the baby. So i understand you ladies! Just let me say this though DO WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT FOR YOU BODY, MIND and BABY! best of luck and best wishes to all you ladies hugs and belly rubs and if you want to friend invite me then please do so.
thanks deb
