hdy2102...i feel for ur friend's stress levels and if smoking helps...as it does for me...then jst advise her to moderate it. Mrsgay your opinion would certainly not help her friend....I am a smoker. I gave up with my first when i found out i was pregnant.= 1 day early, average birth weight. Two following children I cut down but never gave up...both more than a week late and considerably large babies..they are now grown men and have never had any illnesses. I appreciate that this goes against the text books....but there are many many things that peole like yourself do that will potentially harm your child as much in the long term

mrsgaylonj (Mary) - 630 days ago.
Whatever, there is NO excuse for smoking while pregnant! I would rip her a new one, too if I was her doctor. We all have stress but that doesn't give you a free pass to put your baby in danger. My doc has never belittled me, I think it depends. Anyway, how selfish of her to smoke. Hopefully she gets a grip before she does some serious damage to her baby!

debmomof2 - 636 days ago.
Lilith- good for you! Don't let them push u around and u are so right about some doctors trying to get thier moneys worth of of a c- section rather then a normals birth! Sometimes u have to be a bitch and show ur ass to them so they know not to mess with you! I have the same doctor for my first daughter now and she was a complete jerk to me the first baby the second one now im not so nice and she is being so sweet! Good luck girl and if they keep it up let em have it and they will think twice next time!!!!

summerlv1 - 636 days ago.

shirls - 637 days ago.
Also, I just wanted to say good for you Lilith for staying firm to your beliefs. Too many women suffer from good patient syndrome, and agree to what the doctor wants just to avoid making a fuss.

shirls - 637 days ago.
My son was a C-section due to stalled labour (he never engaged) at 12 days overdue, after an induction. He was 9 lbs 11 oz. With my second, I was determined to have a VBAC, and despite being told at multiple ultrasounds that she was measuring big, and going overdue again (10 days) I still insisted on going for VBAC. I had to be induced but I was able to deliver vaginally with a 12 hour labour. Here's the kicker, this 9-10 lb baby they told me to expect from all my ultrasounds was only 7 lbs 14 oz.

mrsgaylonj (Mary) - 638 days ago.
Lilith-what a jerk! If your diabetes is under control your baby will NOT be big because of it. My baby is measuring in the 49th percentile which is right at the national average. My sugars never go above 120 and I eat a ton of veggies and no sweets except a 1/2 c ice cream at night, even then sugars stay around 100.

Lilith - 638 days ago.
They tried to trick me into a c section today. They have been trying to force me into one since the beginning. My first I was induced, she was 8 ibs 71/2 oz. My second was only 6 15, but she was stuck for a second, so they claim I'm high risk for it. They also claim my baby is now over 10 ibs, Blaming my diabetes. However, my dad was 6 ft 6, his brothers 6 1 and 6 4, his sister 5 11 3/4. My cousins on that side have babies over 10 ibs, no diabetes. So the ob today said, 'at least talk to Mary about it' so I agreed to let them talk. Come to find out it was to SIGN THE EFFIN PAPERS!!! No CS for me unless it's medically necessary, in my eyes. I will NOT be made to do something I don't want to do. I'll give birth at home first. Grrrrr they make me so mad. I asked him about my lack of sleep, exhaustion, and constant ice craving being a sign of anemia. He said many women have it during pregnancy, and he isn't worried, nor going to test me for it. WTH?! I thought it was their job to care about that shtuff. Seems my OB cares only that they get the women in their care to get as many interventions as possible so they can make their money.

jessp27 - 638 days ago.
thanks everyone for making me feel soooo much better. There is such a stereotype against us full figured woman hence the damn lane bryant commerical protest: fox wouldnt play because of too much clevage, give me a break what guy complains about too much clevage? Well maybe the not so straight ones lol. But i think every woman is beautiful in their own way. If everyone looked the same, life would be boring! I am glad i am not alone out there and happy to hear it is possible to have a happy and healthy pregnancy while being overweight. Best of wishes to all of you and your new and expanding families! God Bless :)

babsie79 - 638 days ago.
holy canoli! why did i not see this section while i was preggo???!!! well now i know where it is so i can post. i like having a place to come to with ladies my size. i just had my first son on 3/10/10 and he is just a doll face! i was plus size and got pregnant and had the most perfect pregnancy.. no morning sickness, no health problems...nothin... i think doctors try to scare us. just because we a bit bit bigger than most women, who cares? we want the same things as a lot of other 'thin' women, doesnt make anyone better than the other! so work what your momma gave you and just be fierce! :-)

debmomof2 - 639 days ago.
i agree lol i heard the heart beat and saw the baby at 9 weeks so its a load of bull if they tell you this and i also felt both my children move at 13 weeks pregnant! Just because we are bigger woman don't mean we don't feel the same things as a thin woman!

mrsgaylonj (Mary) - 639 days ago.
My doc said its a myth about not finding the hb and not feeling kicks until later. I heard hb at 13 wks.

Lilith - 639 days ago.
They told you it's hard hearing the heart beat when you are big?!?!Heard my babies the first time they looked for one, loud and strong. I hate all the crap that these OB jerks make us bigger women go through and feel. You ladies are all beautiful!!! Don't forget it!

TamiB - 639 days ago.
Hi Guys! I'm new to the plus forum, but not to this site. I had a little boy on 7/30 of last year, and am now ttc one more. I really just wanted to stp by and let you guys know that Old Navy now carries plus maternity online. I found it the other day while shopping online. I hope we're successful this month so I can try some of it out. baby dust to all of you (and me hopefully).

deebo - 639 days ago.
Oh I was so scared at my first doctor's appointment when she couldn't find a heartbeat, my doctor said we might not be able to for a few months yet. But right before she gave up looking she found it. She was pretty shocked to be able to find it with my big fat belly, haha. Seeing the baby for the first time was like, the best thing ever! Doing the IPS test was awesome! Those little chicken legs kicking around and going spastic were amazing. When my fiancé came into the room to see as well, the baby rolled over and showed us her butt. It was pretty cute.

jessp27 - 639 days ago.
hey girls, I had a scare the other day not being able to hear the heartbeat and was so thankful for remembering that I found this forum to remind me its al ittle bit more difficult to find it when you are still in the first trimester and plus size. I got my reassurance yesterday when I finally got to see my little one. Pic on my page if you wanna check it out! Thanks again for all of the support :)

debmomof2 - 640 days ago.
well hello all u momma's and welcome glad to see so many on the plus size page im so happy your all here! hunger pains 24/7 here even just after i have ate ugh! I try to keep myself busy but i just want to eat. I hope i keep the 40 pounds i have lost already with this baby off . Keeping my fingers crossed! hugs and belly rubs to all!!!

nadiadoe - 640 days ago.
I'm plus size and I'm 31 weeks and I only gained. 20 lbs .which is good don't worry about gaining weight. Eat fruits I happened to love mango s and bananas and a lot of veggie .but I also have cravings for sweets so I polish off a little bag off M&Ms with no problem.

JuneBear - 641 days ago.
i had no idea there was a forum for plus size. makes me feel a little better because on my week some talk about being 00 pre pregnancy and @ my same height (5'1') and it just makes me feel a little down.

deebo - 641 days ago.
I have to do my glucose test ASAP! I'm nervous. My dad has diabetes, and well.. I always suspect that I'm going to get it someday. I really don't want to have it!! My baby has been moving around like craaazy lately (I'm at 27 weeks)! She seems to move around more when I'm not feeling well. I keep having some crazy dreams with her in them, she always looks different. I saw my doctor this week, I haven't gained any weight at all, and she's very happy with that. My blood pressure was not too high, either. I asked her if feeling my heartbeat in my hands and stuff is okay, and she said yes. It's only if you feel that plus chest pain and stuff that it's bad. I'm glad to hear that, but it still doesn't make the feeling the heartbeat crap easier to deal with (I haaate it, when I'm trying to cleep, all I feel is my hands pulsating). I've been trying to take it easy, but it's hard! I still feel really ugly, and especially fatter than usual, I hate it. You can't tell I'm pregnant at all, it just looks I'm fatter! Arrghhh. Dammit. Hahah, oh well. I'm pretty happy today. Though, I've been having really straaange eating patterns. Sometimes I'm not hungry at all, and other times I'm starving like I haven't eaten in weeks! Ah the joys of pregnancy. Okay, I'm just rambling ♥

shirls - 641 days ago.
Lots of plus size mums don't gain that much weight, and sometimes lose weight too. I am not one of them though. I gained 40 lbs with my first, 35 lbs with my second, and this is my third. I'm up about 28 lbs so far in my 30th week, so I figure I'll gain 40 lbs again with this one. I don't worry about it too much, my kids are healthy and that's what matters to me. I am enjoying my baby belly so much right now. I know that this is probably my last pregnancy, so I'm trying to enjoy. ~ mrsgaylonj - I think I'm about the same as you. I'm quite tall, and proportioned. I was a size 16-18 before I got pg, but I didn't start showing for a while. I didn't even announce that I was pg at work until I was 17 weeks along, and no one asked. I'm definitely showing now though. To the point where people assume I'm full term or having twins when I still have 9 (or more!) weeks to go.

two2love - 641 days ago.
i was 81 kg at the start of this preg and am still 81 kg at 30 weeks, is it normal to not gain weight when ur a bigger person? with dd i was 70 kg and got to 90 kg,,,

mrsgaylonj (Mary) - 642 days ago.
Jessp-I'm proportioned all the way and I'm tall, I do have a long torso, though, oh and I have a butt, just not a boooooty, lol. At first I had a 'b' belly, but it went away pretty fast and now its pretty round, but like oblong because of my height and long torso. Like I don't feel baby boy in my ribs-EVER and u/s tech agreed its because my long torso and he's got his head down right on my pelvis, which really hurts by the way! Ha. He's measuring 5.2 lbs right at the 49th percentile which is national average. Can't believe only 6 wks to go! I just started getting m/s again, no barfing this time, but the nausea is back with a vengence! I had bad m/s until about 16 wks, daily bile barfing, lost 17 lbs in my 1st trimester, tmi, but true. Of that 17 I've gained back 15, so I'm still 2lbs less than prepreggo weight-allelujah!

smartwifeandmom - 643 days ago.
i carry my weight in the middle, and i didnt really show till about 20/22 weeks with my first, i have pics on my first pregnancy, and can tell im preggo and im a size 24 was a 22 then
