Caffeine During pregnancy:Several doctors recommend to limit the caffeine intake during pregnancy to
300mg per day. The table below shows you exactly how much 300mg is. Drink decaf or tea instead.
Caffeine During breastfeeding:For most mothers, drinking an occasional caffeine containing beverage is not harmful for her baby as only a small amount of caffeine passes into the breastmilk. Limiting consumption of caffeine to the equivalent of
1 to 2 cups of coffee per day is a good guideline. Consuming
more than 750 mg of caffeine a day could result in caffeine accumulating in the baby`s body, especially in a newborn. It takes 2 to 5 days for a newborn to clear half the caffeine from his body. By 3 months of age the baby is able to clear half the caffeine in 14 hours.

Help Me ! Before I was pregnant i drank red bull, coffee, soda, and tea all the time! I am now 9 weeks and need caffeine daily. I try to limit myself to one glass of ice tea a day. Sometimes I slip and have a coca cola. How can I stop? eminsana -

Diet soda is horrible for your body whether you are PG or not. I was so addicted to it. I would have at least 2 20 ozs. a day. The day we decided we were going to start TTC i quit drinking it cold turkey. I havent had a sip in a month! I never thought I could do it but I did. I actually had a sip of pop the other day and I swear it was so gross to me. I feel so much more enegergized and just refreshed. Pop really dragged me down. I promise if you quit drinking it, you will feel so much better! ;-) waiting2bwoozy -

I gave up caffeine about 2 weeks later after i found i was pregnant and i quit cold turkey. I used to drink about 2-3 cups a coffee a day. Plus, diet soda at dinner. xaffeine isn't good in the 1st trimester of pregnancy because it can cause a miscarriage. I started up on caffeine again at 24 weeks. Only cause i asked the dr at my last dr.'s appt. He reccommended that i only drink one cup or can a day of caffeine. He said if i needed the 2nd one it would be okay. NOthing more than that. Now that i have drank coffee for the last 2 days it has made me nausious (sp?) I think i am going to give it up all together. I have never heard that it can cause low birth rate.
I had my daugher at 38 wks and she was 8lbs 8oz. I drank soda everyday with her even in the beginning. MOUNTAIN DEW to boot! I was young when i had her so i didn't have as much knowledge as i do now.
Caffeine is not good in your first trimester. My doctor has even told me that.

I don't think it is true that it can put you into pre-term labor. I drank 2 coffees a day, soda, and tea. I was 8 days overdue! However they say it can cause a low birth weight, and my little pumpkin came out 6lbs 1 oz when he was 8 days overdue. I guess that is tiny. 1chance2live -

This sounds kind of sad but sometimes I treat myself to a can of soda or a cup of coffee and when I do IT IS SO GOOD. Before I got pregnant I would have a cup of coffee in the morning and maybe a soda during lunch but always one for dinner and since I found out I went cold turkey and but sometimes I get a craving so I 'treat' myself and it is so much better than when I use to drink it everyday. When I get a coffee I can't help but to say yum after everytime I take a drink. =) Kind of sad but it makes me happy and I feel like I am treating myself. youngmom1985 -

I never thought caffeine could have any affect on the baby so I didn't try to limit it. My doctor told me that because I had two previous premature births I should really try to cut it out as much as possible because the caffeine can induce pre-term labor. I cut back somewhat thinking the doctor was overreacting but when I became 31 weeks pregnant I went into labor. I was in the hospital for 3 days and am now on medication every 6 hours. I no longer drink anything that has caffeine in it. I so far made it to 34 weeks! Still going strong! katem08baby -

i have one caffine thing a day...
I was a caffine addict before i got pregnant.. now, it makes me feel strange 'jittery' if i drink more than one a day.
I save it for sweet tea at lunch or dinner - southern girl has to have that sweet tea!!! HA

I stopped drinking coffee at the begining of my pregnancy because the smell made me sick. I was going to slowly slow down because I got headaches from going cold turkey the first pregnancy. Now that I am in 19 weeks coffee smells good again. I made a decaf capachino today. Also an occational hot chocolate. Its hard to stay way! prayin41 -

I am TTC, and I have been a addict to coffee, tea, soda. Well, two weeks ago I stopped going to Port City JAva and getting the Mochaccinos, they are my weakness and then I started making folgers at home and I don't even drink but half a cup of it. I have not drink any caffenated soda lately, I went to the store yesterday and craved a Sundrop amd then thought about my future child and went for the Sprite instead. I kindof feel like I am doing very good, I have been eating better and resting. I have PCOS which makes me higher risk for miscarriage so if I do get preggers I have to be careful. CrystalBall77 -

Caffiene.. before pregnancy... a latte, espresso, and a regular cup in the morning.. AS SOON AS I found out I was pregnant.. No coffee... The smell became nauseating.. I don't even start the pot for my husband in the morning anymore.. Not worth the dry heaving..
I stopped drinking coffee because well studies show it IS bad for the growing baby inside.. and any addiction is worth giving up for the baby.. I have dealt with the caffiene headaches, and chalked it up to pregnancy symptoms.. However on occasion I will get a Chai Tea for a small boost of energy, and of course I drink some herbal teas.. which I have found to be more than enough caffiene when you've taken yourself off of coffee and espresso..
Good luck it hard to do..(unless it makes you nauseaous).. but remember it is soooo worth it for the unborn baby... alyssamarie -

i am a major caffine addict. but i have slowed down ALOT.. i only allow myself one source of caffinbe a day now. whether it be a up of coffee in the morning or a dr pepper with my dinner. but the doctors all say that i am healthy and so is my lil guy. it is actually a bad thing to cut off of your caffine completely while you are pregnant. cause all of the toxins in your body regaurdless will go to your baby. but it is better to cut back. lisasmells -

this is so crazy, i drink coffee and tea everyday and im 28 weeks pregnant, and i have cravings for chocolate so im always eatin that too, so easter was the worst.... now ur all shittin me up talking about not drinkin it! one person asked if it ws okay to drink caffeine free soda whilst pregnant.. and im here at the moment with a cuppa tea in my hands! marias1983 -

I stopped caffeine intake in the first trimester with my first pregnancy and this pregnancy. With my son, I craved 1 fountain-coke everyday that I just had to have.
