There are lots of myths and tales regarding pregnancy. One of the most popular involves the myths regarding the sex of the unborn child. It can be lots of fun trying to determine what's behind that growing bump! Of course, the most accurate method for gender prediction is an ultrasound. The Face


*Many people say that an easy way to tell if a woman is having a boy or girl is to determine if she is more or less attractive. Supposedly, if she is less attractive she is having a boy. This is because of the hormonal mix between the two genders. *Other myths say that if a woman's face changes alot-wider nose, puffier face, texture of the hair, etc..-it is a girl. *Supposedly, you can tell the gender of a baby by using a needle. For this method youwould take a needle hanging by a thread, take the hand of either a woman or man, and rub the thread up and down once or twice along the palm and dangle the needle abov the center of the palm. If the needle swings back and forth, it is a boy. If it moves in a circle, it is a girl. Wedding Band Trick


*Using a wedding band to predict the gender of an unborn child is very similar to the eye of the needle method. You just use a wedding band instead of a needle. Cravings


*Many myths suggest that a woman can tell whether she is having a boy or a girl by what she is craving. If a woman is craving spicy or salty foods, then she should plan for a boy. If you crave sweeter foods, you should plan for pink!

How You Carry


*How you carry is a popular gender prediction myth. Old wives tales say that if you carry low, you are having a boy. If you carry high, you should expect a girl. In reality, this depends on your uterine tone, muscle tone and the position of the baby. Heart Rate


*Among the theories of gender prediction, if the fetal heart rate is over 140, the baby will be a girl. If the heart rate is under 140, it's a boy. Fetal Activity


*Although all babies move at different paces in utero, it is said that boys will be more active than girls. Morning Sickness


*Many myths say that women who are carrying boys do not have as much morning sickness in the first trimester as those that are expecting girls. Draino Test


*The draino gender test should be performed after the 4 month of pregnancy. This test must be performed outside in a glass / jar that holds can hold twice as much urine as you use as there is a bubbling, smelly, and caustic chemical reaction when you add your urine to the crystal drano. Do NOT do this indoors-the smell is awful!

You will need:

• Approximately 2 tablespoons of CRYSTAL Drano
• Medium glass or glass jar. It is best to just throw the mixing glass away after performing this test.
• Two to Three ounces of urine, preferably the first morning urine.

Take the test materials outside.
Add your urine to the glass jar with the crystal drano in it.
There will be a rapid chemical reaction and it is best to stay well away from the glass jar while the fumes are being produced.
When the reaction stops, observe the color of the test.

If the mixture darkens to a brownish color within the first 10 seconds - It is a boy.
If there is no darkening or color change after 10 - 15 seconds - It is a girl.

Well Intelligender (intelligender.com) said it was a boy and today my ultrasound confirmed that it is in fact a BOY!!! We're so excited!!! Most of the old wives tales pointed to boy also. Except that I had morning sickness in the beginning and the heartbeat was 162 at my appt before the u/s. The chinese gender chart said girl.

Almost all of the prediction charts said I was having a girl. And, the heartrate was above 140 everytime, I was very very sick with MS, craving sweets all the time, the ring and needle trick both said girl...so i believed it all and was mind-set on having a girl. Then we went in for the 20 week scan and the very first thing we saw was that it was a BOY! My husband and I looked at eachother and we were both pretty schocked. It actually took a while to get used to the fact that it was a boy. So, dont get your hopes up ladies...just accept the fact that it is a 50/50 chance and be happy with whatever you get! ;)

Hay ladies. My babies heartbeat has always been 130, EVERY time i've gone in. Does that mean I'm having a boy? Could as many of you as possible just post your past preggo stats: heart rate, and gender? I'd love ya for it :o) -destiny

Just about all of these predicted a girl for us. I have the urge to eat everything sweet, baby's heartbeat has been over 140 everytime, I had horrible morning sickness for about 8weeks & I was carrying high for a while & Chinese Prediction chart said girl as well.... I had a few dreams where I was told it was a boy (before my 18wk US), I am now carrying low, baby is idle for about 10 seconds a day...2 Ultrasounds (18wk & 32wk) have shown a definate boy.

the heart rate wise tale is not true bc my babies heartbeat is always above the 140s and im having a little boy!! also i am carrying him high there for that does not matter either!! so i wouldnt go by any of these!!

i had morning sickness up until week 20 , craved sweet stuff all the time mainly friut , my babies heat beat was always over 140 , the chinese gender perdiction said girl everyone around me said girl but guess what it a boy

I have had a psychic tell me I would have a girl, 3 years after marriage and a boy within two years, and that's all I'd have. The ring test was preformed on my wedding day by my sister in law and it said a girl then boy for me and my husband. So has the needle. I am going to try draino and see if that works LOL. Oh....I did have a girl, 3 months after our 3 year anniversary (2006) and the next baby is due on Sept 15 this year. So far it's all right, but only if I have a boy LOL

the test so far have all turned out to be 50/50... I'll have to wait and see if I try the drano one or just wait a few more weeks to see what the ultrasound says. EITHER WAY I have one of each and as long as my baby is healthy I'll be happy!

I had a dream last night I was having a GIRL! It was pretty detailed... pink pants, sandals, pink and white shirt on, I was holding her walking around the house. She had dark blonde hair that curled at the ends. My mom has dreams all the time... she had one about my brother, me, my brother's baby and now mine. In her dream it was a girl also! She's 3 for 3... we'll see if she's right! Now that I've had my dream about the baby... I'm SO confident it's a girl. We find out on Apr 15th... that would be so cool if I had a psychic dream like my mom! ahh! I'm super excited about it right now. I hope my dream is right!

I would have to say that these have the same odds of being right as you guessing on your own! I had HORRIBLE morning sickness - I was in the hospital 4 times, had a zofran pump & everything, and baby is DEFINITELY a BOY!! I used to love mexican food before getting pregnant, now I can't stand it. Baby's heartrate has always been above 140. When I first got pregnant I couldn't stand the thought of something sweet, but now I love to eat cocoa pebbles and fruity pebbles!

I haven't had any morning sickness, which usually indicates having a boy. I'm carrying low which indicates BOY. The needle test said I'm having a BOY. I've been craving spicy foods (salsa, mexican, queso with salsa, etc) which indicates BOY. I can't wait till I hear the heartbeat to see if that says BOY too! I haven't got to hear the heartbeat yet! My doctor doesn't do them until 10-12 wks. unless you're having abnormal spotting or other possible signs of miscarriage. I have an appointment April 10 to hear the heartbeat and have another check-up!! :)

I did the Eye test too, & I got a V, along with the Ring it went in circle & the Niddle went in Circle GIRL, My Craving's are very sweet no grill chesse (Nasty) But I am gonna be waiting on my U/S to see if it's all right I am praying for a GIRL :)

ok so im trying the needle and wedding band thing. i put the needle over a piece of paper and other stuff on my desk and it swung back and fourth... as soon as i put in over my belly or palm it went in circles!! dont know if it will be true but i just thought it was crazy and wanted to test out if it was just the way my hand held it that it went one way or the other but it didnt matter becaus it changed when in put it over me....

The tests that I have completed and the chinese prediction chart pointed toward a girl. I did not try the draino test, My wedding ring made huge circles, my face is puffier, I crave sweets like crazy, the heart rate has always been in the 150's, and I am 26 weeks and I still have serious morning sickness.However, I am carrying low and my baby is very active. I had my ultra sound done at 5 months and I am having a baby BOY!! Most of the test results turned out false for me, but I guess it was all for fun anyway! Good luck to you all!

Yea, I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and Most of these say I'm having a girl, But I'm having a boy. So i dont know if believeing in these are a good idea, but just a fun idea, now I wish I was having a girl! But nope, another boy for me :-P I do believe in the morning sickness tho. That if your having bad morning sickness the first trimester, then your having a girl.

well i am 13+4 days preganant and all of the test i have done for gender ponint more to a girl; the ring went in a definate circle, but i have had no ms at all and my hubby is convinced it's a boy!! what do you all think?? plus i started showing early. plus i crave sweets like crazy!!!!! i can't wait to find out what we are having!!!

I'm almost 11 weeks pregnant and I'm so impatient about finding out the gender of my baby! The chinese gender chart says it's a girl. The things I'm craving and my morning sickness says boy. We got the Intelligender test and it says boy. And my mommy's intuition tells me boy too. But we'll just have to see. Someone told me that something that works better than the chinese gender chart is when you take the month you conceived in and what your age will be when the baby is born and add them together. If it's even, it's a girl. If it's odd, it's a boy.

HI!! I'm trying to see if one of the old wives tales is correct.. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and having another girl - I read that if you pull down your left eye lid you will see a vein shaped like a V- So far I've tested some friends and it's been accurate, but wanted to check with the forum. :) Let me know. V shaped vein means girl, nothing means boy?? Thanks!

This also differs from something else I just read. It said if the band goes forward and back its a girl and round in a circle its a boy.
