Dreams

What kind of memorable dreams have you experienced?

Dreams During Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a very emotional time in a woman's life. It is common to experience vivid dreams that are unique and memorable. The vivid dreams are believed to be caused by increased hormone levels during pregnancy. Hormones have been shown to affect emotions and during pregnancy, the levels of estrogen and progesterone is higher than ever. The emotional battles you face during the day can wreck havoc on you during the night and play a part in your dreams, fantasies and fears.

Most women do experience some type of unusual dream during their pregnancy. Occasionally, the dream is upsetting or alarming. Dreams are normal and healthy and can help you to sort out your worries or fears in a healthy way. You might have dreams regarding the health of your baby, sex of the baby, impending birth or other pregnancy related concerns. The most common dreams during pregnancy center around our fears or apprehensions of pregnancy and baby related topics.

When you wake up, can you clearly recall what your dream was about? If so, you should try to find out the emotion that you were experiencing. Were you happy? Sad? Afraid? Grab a pen and a piece of paper and write down what you remember from the dream and how you felt. Try to connect your dream to a feeling that you have in your life. Is there a reason that you might be feeling scared, upset or dissapointed? Listen to what your dreams are telling you and see if they relate to your real-life feelings, worries or concerns.

Many pregnant women dream about losing things or forgetting important things. You might dream about forgetting to feed your baby or leaving him in a store. Some pregnant mothers have dreams that they will not have everything they need when the baby is born. If you have dreams about losing things or forgetting appointments, items or other things, perhaps you feel that you may not be fully prepared to take on the task of motherhood.

Often when pregnant mothers feel that they are "stuck" in their pregnancy or are afradid of being tied down because of the baby, they dream about being enclosed in tight spaces or trapped in a car, tunnel or small room. You might also dream that you are drowning in a pool, a lake or other body of water.

Women that are adjusting to a new diet or are afraid of gaining weight during their pregnancy, frequently have weight-related dreams. Mothers may dream that they are gaining too much weight or "wake up" in their dream feeling too large. You might experience a dream where you are eating the wrong foods or drinking the wrong drinks. Some women that are afraid of losing their appeal or are afraid that they will not be attractive after pregnancy often have dreams about her husband or partner finding a new mate.

Almost all pregnant mothers will have dreams about the new baby and what their family will be like after the baby is born. You might experience life-like dreams of delivering your baby and caring for her. This is simply your body's way of preparing you for the upcoming birth of your child. Dreams about the baby's size, condition or appearance may express anxiety concerning the baby's health at birth. Dreams regarding your baby's inteeligence may be shown through the baby talking or walking at birth. If you have your heart set on a particular sex, you might have dreams regarding the gender of your child.

I had a vivid M/C dream last night...man did that one shake me. Most of the dreams i remember up till now have been smoking dreams...i quit a month before we concieved and even in my dreams I get at myself about smoking. I guess in the long run that is the safest smoke to have. I have been smoke free for over three months:) not counting the few nocturnal ones. lol

I dream of my ex boyfriends as well... nothing good though, they are always doing something that my husband would NEVER do. I have told my husband and he just hugs me... I also have sex dreams.. pretty intense, I might add. I wake up thinking I am in the middle of having sex, I often wonder if I make any noises... :)

i think dreaming about ex's must be common. at the beginning of pregnancy i dreamt about EVERY ex bf ive ever had except the babies father (b.c i cant even think or say his name without starting to be physically sick hah)

lizzie287 - 9 days ago.
I was dreaming about my ex quite a bit for a while there, they were more like nightmares though because my ex was a manipulative, abusive prick. I never told Ryan, but every time I woke up from one of those dreams I was always so relieved to wake up and see Ryan beside me, and not the ex.

mom2be87 - 9 days ago.

I'm not sure if I am having dreams and not remembering them but for the past 3 days I have been waking up 2-3 hours after I fall asleep with my heart POUNDING. My pulse is usually 100-110 and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced. It usually takes 10 min. or so for my pulse to lower which is abnormal since I just sit up in bed and lean on the headboard. Please message me on my page. I guess if it happens another night I am going to call the MD.

Tori(a.k.a. Tinkerbell) - 9 days ago.

elimama - 10 days ago.
hey ladies! i used to love watching 'a baby story' before i got preggers, and for the first time the other day, i watched one episode. i could not sleep that night!!! i kept having these vivid dreams about this horrible painful labor, where i could see my contractions in my hands!!!! then after what seems like forever, the baby comes out and only wants bread!!!! no more baby story for me...

weav623 - 10 days ago.
So I had this crazy dream last night about my baby clawing himself out of my stomach! He did it twice, and the first time I was able to push him back in. The second time he got his head and feel out too so we had to take him out. It was the weirdest thing! He had these hands the size of toddlers hands with long fingernails. It was so freaky!

mama40 - 10 days ago.
I had a dream this night that I went to the hospital and was getting ready to labor, and then I remembered that I am only 32 weeks and it is too early to give birth. So I woke up. Guess my labor worries crawl into my dreams)

Bangel - 10 days ago.
I must have read too much about pregnancy messing with your teeth, cause last night I had this vivid long dream about all my teeth rotting and falling out!

MILMOM2BE - 10 days ago.
I dreamed I was much younger, might have been high school, and as I was walkign thru the halls, I was lifting my shirt to show ppl my lil girls hand and foot that she was pressing so hard against my side you could see them so clearly thru my skin... it was weird but really sweet to have 'seen' her little bitty hand and foot...

averysfairytale - 10 days ago.
I dreamt my baby did not have a brain. I guess it is because I had not gotten to see it move yet. Went to the Dr today for check up and baby was dancing around! Boy what a relief!!!

Elle - 11 days ago.
I had a dream last night that this couple was going through a divorce. The woman caught the guy cheating on her on their anniversary and I was in the perspective as the daughter. I remember in the dream I was yelling at the dad saying how could you do this after being married for 20 years? and I woke up crying. It was a strange dream.

meekie - 11 days ago.
I have scary dreams about me running... and I'm being chased by different things in different parts of the dreams. Most of the dreams about the baby are pleasant HOWEVER... i was napping and I had a dream that I caught my boyfriend on a date with another woman when he was supposed to be watching the baby...

Tori(a.k.a. Tinkerbell) - 13 days ago.
ok last night i had the wierdest dream..ok first off i'm not keeping my son..but in my dream i had n b/c of that some guy was chasing me(i was carrying my son) around the trailer i live in. he was trying to take my son&kill me.i ran to the bathroom..i shut the door..but then i heard laughter,so i pulled back the shower curtain n he was standing behind it waiting for me.he said 'you should have kept your promise to alex and not kept your baby, because you didn't you need to die? i freaked out when i woke up i was still freaked out

I had a ridiculous nightmare last night that my boyfriend and I were at this weird theme park thing, and one of the rides was separated by race (he's black/white mix). So we had to separate, and when we got to the other room, I got stuck outside because I needed a dollar apparently... for some reason. Anyway, when I got into the room the game part of it was over, and I found out that it had been matched up male to female and that the game involved sexual things. And my boyfriend participated! I got very upset and he just laughed at me and told me to go home. I left the ride thing and went to our hotel and he never came home. I found out he'd been making out with his ex-wife the whole time. I called him to ask if this was true and he was like 'Yeah so?' I started crying that it was over and he laughed and said 'good.' Then I realized that he and his family had driven me here and had left me, and it was 5:46 the next day and I was over an hour late for work. I called one of my closest friends and he laughed at me too and said I was a bad person, I deserved it, I was stupid, no one wants a pregnant girlfriend... and then I woke up. =/ Now I wanna scream at my boyfriend over a stupid dream, but I know better. He's not like that at all, I just feel really upset about the dream itself... what's wrong with me? :(

katykat - 14 days ago.
DANG IT I just told my husband about the dream I had this morning and I just suddenly burst into tears in the middle of it! I don't even know why, and know my poor dh thinks I'm going nuts!

katykat - 14 days ago.
No kidding with the nightmares...I have dreams that don't seem like they should be nightmares but for some reason I'm so scared in them...like this morning I dreamed I was waiting tables again (haven't done it in years, and I was a terrible waitress anyway!)...and the ONLY table I had for the night I couldn't remember what they ordered and kept having to go back...they waited for like 2 hours on their food!!! I was so upset when I woke up that I was nearly in tears. I wonder if it has something to do with how forgetful I've been lately!! Also I've had some very angry dreams as well, where I've just completely gone off on people (well, they deserved it!), but so much of it has to do with restaurants!! In one, I stabbed a waitress in the heart with a fork (she was fine, she just reached down and pulled it out)...in another, I screamed at the entire staff at a restaurant because they served me ice cream with mustard on it...and now this one where I was a waitress again...GAH!!! What is wrong with me!!

MandaKaye - 15 days ago.
