I have asthma year round and use advair and ventilan and my 1st son is perfect! No worries and remember if you can't breathe baby can't breathe so medicine is ok! It's normal in pregnancy for asthma to get worse bc they squish our lungs too :(

Im 19 weeks pg and had an asthma exacerbation this week and have been getting steroids im so scared. Have any one of u had bad asthma episode during pg?

nice_things@ymail.com - 410 days ago.
I have asthma and am 16 weeks pregnant with #5. I don't recall ever having preoblems breathing with my other kids, but this one seems to be a real concern for me. All is well with the baby and for the most part, healthy pregnancy, just some days can't breathe too well.

I was born astmatic :( i was in and out of the hospital from birth until a pre-teen.. i used a breathing machine while at home. I always had seizers form them.. Im always so scared my son maybe born with asthma.. I know it seems silly to think but I dont know how to handle a baby with a breathing illness.

Angel: My child has been a diagnosed asthmatic since he was about 11 months. I knew something was wrong from birth, he was a really unsettled baby often crying for days at a time! I knew he had allergies but no one would listen to me sometimes telling me I was crazy. I fought long and hard for doctors to acknowledge what I was saying. Finally found a really great doctor that is interested in treating the cause not only the symptoms and he sent him for intolerance testing, also got an appointment at the allergist. It seems like he has intolerances to white flour, DAIRY ( most asthmatics are), preservatives, MSG and bakers yeast. He was at the hospital once a month and had symptoms for 2 weeks then he was good for 2 weeks then at the hospital again. He is on Flixitide but I gave reduced it to once daily and now it is summer I will take him off it altogether. We haven't been to the hospital for 10 months. Asthma is allergy/intolerance related you need to find out what is causing his asthma and then you maybe able to control it. You have to be prepared to make doctors think outside the box and not just treat the symptoms! Another thing that greatly improves asthma is probiotics but get the dairy free variety. Metagenic's (brand name) has the best and it designed for kids, it is called 'Flora care for kids.' good luck message me if you have more questions.

Hi ladies, are any of your babies asthmatics? My son has had really bad asthma since 4 mths, hes now 9 mths old and its getting worse. He is on Atrovent and Ventalin. They are looking at giving him something stronger as they are not helping to control it. We have just finished a course of steroids and they have given little if no relief at all. Its very scarey when he has an attack, sometimes I think hes in a constant attack.

Hey everyone, im 15 weeks 5 days pregnant with number two! Just saw the lung doctor, and he put me on Advair... turns out im allergic, now he is starting me on Flovent.. anyone taken this during pregnancy? i ready it can cause cleft palate and low birth weight, anyone taken this during pregnancy and had a side affect on the baby?? i have to breathe, but im just worried about my un-born! thanks

lkk9 - 1147 days ago.
curley...I took my asthma medicine while i was breast feeding..which had steroids in it and everything was fine...I also took my albuterol...ask your doc...there are some meds that you may not be able to take but there are definitely plenty that they can then put you on...hope this helps

curley704 - 1165 days ago.
I am an asthmatic, I have been since I was 2 years old. It has improved with the help of medication since I have gotten pregnant. I am planning on breastfeeding my baby when he arrives, however I am concerned with the amount of steroids I am taking to control my asthma symptoms as I'm not sure how they would effect him or if the puffers I'm taking would taint the breastmilk. Does anyone know how that works? You can always send me a message if you'd like. Thanks.

I'm asthmatic. Was in the hospital with my first pregnancy and now in again with my second. I'm one of the 'rare' cases in which asthma is worse during pregancy... which I think it's because I'm always pregnant around cold and flu season. I took numerous asthma meds with my first, and now with my second. My first baby turned out fine, my second looks as he's just as healthy. For other asthmatics... see you OB along with your lung doc!! Very important. If anyone ever has questions for me, just send me a message.

I have asthma which was very bad as a child and as I got older it got better. During 1st pregnancy it was still mild. However I am now 9 weeks pregnant and my asthma has been terrible. I was on symbicort and when i got pregnant doc switched me back to pro air/albuterol (sp?) which is what I was on during 1st preg. But i find myself constantly needed the inhaler. It's terrible, I just wish that I could breath better!

those with astma, how many medications did you take during pregnancy. I am still TTC and I am terrified because of all the meds I take to control my astma.

Sas-Jd - 1569 days ago.
My astma hasn't been to bad but it has gone worse than what it was. I can control my astma fine apart form having to wake up to hardly breathing my sprays do calm it back down. I hope others having bad astma works out fine! Xx

Kjaysgurl - 1570 days ago.
my asthma has been horrible! I have exercised induced asthma to begin with and it's been so long since i've had an attack that i didn't even know that was the problem! I just thought that since i'm having twins that they're taking up more lung room. well finally it got to the point where it was so hard to breath and i felt dizzy. i called the ob and they said to go to a walk in (seemed weird to me) but they diagnossed it as asthma brought on by pregnancy so now i'm on nebulizer treatments at least 3 times a day. it does help so i can breath but i'm so shakey after that i still feel really dizzy.

meshia - 1609 days ago.
My asthma hasn't been to bad. I have only had to use my inhaler very little. I'm impressed.

erin b - 1614 days ago.
I have asthma-have always had it. It got so bad when I was about 17 weeks I actually landed myself in the hospital for three days. Pregnancy definately makes it worse if you don't keep on top of it!

misz-cashis-april09 - 1614 days ago.
i have asthma but its not bad. i am just getting ovr a cold it made my asthma flare up so bad!! even my inhaler wasnt helping that much. but thank god im over it for the most part. asthma is annoyingg

amypp - 1614 days ago.
yes i am having the same problem with the stairs

amanda72385 - 1614 days ago.
i'm not pregnant anymore but i've had asthma my whole life, the pregnancy never caused me any asthma problems though except when i had to go up and down stairs cause the extra weight from the baby wore me out.
