I go tomorrow for my test! Have had big kids in the past but no GD thankfully. Hoping with twins it stays the same.

affrikka - 593 days ago.
Hi ladies, I was diagnosed with GD at 19 weeks but think I've had it for longer as I had symptoms of Diabetes at around 8 weeks. Its frustrating trying to keep my blood sugar level under control and looks like I'll be on insulin in a week or so. Not looking forward to that.

samanthaflower133 - 593 days ago.
Garden...hang in there and do the best you can. You can ask to meet with the nutritionist again if the diet isn't working for you and/or if you are getting high numbers. They usually don't let you go past your due date if you have GD. This is the 2nd time I have had it.

HI Ladies, I will be 29 weeks on monday! I was diagnosed with GB at 27 weeks!! I have to take insulin and check my blood sugars 4 times a day! This is my fourth pregnancy and the first time I have GB! This is also my first boy! I have not gained as much weight with his pregnancy as I did with my others. I have gained 20 lbs so far. Also I am measuring anywhere from a week to half a week under for fundal height. I am very worried about having a big baby! I try so hard to watch I eat/drink. I also have to check my ketones and it comes back with with small to moderate amounts. Everyonce in awhile neg. I just feel like I can't get it right and I am going to harm my baby!! This is so frustrating!!! Thanks!

alenasmommy - 611 days ago.

candyred72 - 635 days ago.
amanda7.. with me when my sugars are too high I get light headed and dizzy and dry mouth. When I have low blood sugar I get really hot and sweaty, dizzy, shakey, and at times my tongue goes numb! I know all people are different but I hope this helps! Take care!

I just found out last wednesday that i have GD. i don't really know much about it and i'm kinda scared...i'm 32 weeks today, i don't have an appointment until wednesday with the diabetic clinic, wondering if anyone know of signs to watch for that my sugar might be to high or to low...thanks

candyred72 - 649 days ago.
I am 14 weeks now and this is my 3rd pregnancy with the gd! I was diagnosed at 6 weeks with this pregnancy and put on insulin(3rd time on insulin) at 8 weeks! I check my sugar levels 4 times a day and give myself 3 shots a day! The last couple days my sugars have been high at lunch(170 2 hrs after) so I am sure I am gonna get to add another shot next week!!! Yuck!!! My only problem is that I am always hungry and feel like I am starving most of the time as they have me on a very strict diet! I miss my pizza, pasta, and chinese food! Oh and ice cream!! LOL! Only 22 weeks to go!!! Happy healthy baby bumps to all!!!

Hi Ladies. I've never had a diabetes scare in my life... until today. Had my first screening and it came back 9.2 (okay levels are 3.0-7.8). I'm am SO SCARED!!! My midwife really played down the implications to me, but the research on the internet really scares me! Became a personal trainer, sports nutritionist, professional dancer, but since having to retire from a job of exercising 7days a week and being in the fitness industry (which did my head in after a while)... the weight has really crept up, and now that I'm in my 3rd trimester, the pregnancy weight has tipped me over the obese line. Have the 3hr diagnostic test tomorrow morning and wishing more than anything it comes back negative. Have made changes to my diet already and upped my exercise post meals. One thing I can say to all of you questioning about insulin spikes (or if you have a sugar craving you just can't get over)... in a sports nutrition paper at university we measured insulin response to high GI and low GI simple and complex carbs... (I had to jog/run for an hour and a half measuring my blood glucose every 5mins after eating jellybeans) and there was NO DIFFERENCE in glucose/insulin response to those who had super simple sugars and exercised, to those with complex carbs and no exercise... i.e. it can be as simple and sweet as you like and your body will absorb it if your in an active metabolic state from exercise. (All that said - none of us were diabetic). So if you're like me (a comfort eater) and want a bit of compromise for the odd meal, or have an insulin spike you just don't know what to do about... get active in your house and get your heart rate up and your glucose readings should drop even if just by a bit. I'll let you know how my test goes and whether this advice still stands once I have the gadgets and advice from professionals, etc. about it (while I'm hoping it won't get to that... I'd also rather be safe and monitored than be going this alone off a hunch). Good luck to everyone out there with GD!

I am 35 weeks along, and was just told I failed my second one hour glucose test. At 28 weeks I passed it just fine, but they did an ultrasound at 34 weeks and baby was measuring 7.5 pounds, so they had me re take it. This is my second pregnancy, and my daughter was 9 lbs 3 oz, so I am just worried how this will effect this little guy! I am going to see an endocrinologist next week...

Hey everyone!! This Saturday is the March of Dimes walk!! Please dig into your pockets (or diaper bags) and make a donation! :) A dollar or two goes alooong way!! Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help. Please support my walk. Making a secure donation is easy: just click the 'donate now' button on this page. Thank you for helping me give all babies a healthy start! The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. As you can see, your donation goes to an amazing cause that helps us all!! Both of babies were born prematurely and I have also lost 3 babies who were born at 18 weeks, 20 weeks and 27 weeks who were too small to make it. This walk really touches my heart, as I'm sure it does yours! Please, even if it's a dollor to two, it will help out in a big way!! And it only takes minute!! http://www.marchforbabies.org/team/t1413074 Thank you all!!

I was told I have GD at 31 weeks. And I tell you what I have had such an ordeal with this so far that I could not imagine going though this again with another baby. See I thought that i could eat whatever i wanted and so i did. well this is not true, it will get you in the end. I try to fix the prob by changing what i eat and walking but it only helped for my day time numbers , not fasting. They told me that the fasting is something that you have little control over and that the only way to control this is to go on insulin. Well I hate to get shots so I asked is there anything that I can do to avoid the injections. She said yes and put me on an insulin pill. I have been on the pill for 2 weeks and so far so good. Im 35 weeks now. My baby is measureing just perfect and I could not be happier with the outcome to date. My doc has me do no more than 90 for fasting and 130 at a one hour check.

Hi everyone, I was told I had GD at about 10 weeks last pregnancy but I ended up having a m/c at 13 weeks, doctors aren't sure why I had the m/c but I am a little concerned I was told by a nurse at my last apt that if I tested positive for GD that early I may already have had the diabetes. I don't go back for my next apt with my doctor for 4 weeks, i am a little worried if I should call her before then.

chumashyaqui - 683 days ago.

I have GD, since 16 weeks. On insulin and checking blood sugars 8 times a day. My goals are: Fasting between 90 and 100. Two hours after meals less than 120. Hope this helps, Lisa.

Hi Everyone....wanted to know if anyone had GD with one pregnant (my first i got it at 34weeks due to baby measuring 2 weeks large) and now 3 years later I am pregnant again (5Weeks) and to be safe they had me do the 1 hour glucose test. I failed it with a score of 183....now they want me to do the 3 hour test. Really worried cause I failed it so early. Last time I was able to control with diet and excerise. Hoping to be able to that this time...but not sure since I am only 5 weeks. Any advice would be great!! TY!

Just found out I have GD, I'm 25 weeks, kinda scared just because I don't know anything about it, I've done tons of reading on pregnancy but not GD as I'm not overweight or over 35, none of my sisters or my mom had it (my grandma did) I have done 40 min of exercise everyday since 13 weeks and I eat healthy, I mean I do have treats but not too bad, but I also wasn't thinking about it since I am working out and not overweight. Now I'm scared for my baby, I don't want him to have diabetes or obesity problems in life, nevermind the risks at birth.

kerij81509 - 700 days ago.
this is my 3rd pregnancy i have had GD in all 3 pregnancies and My doc told me my levels should be under 120. I was diagnosed this time at 6wks just cuz i had it with the other 2 and my blood lvls were high. Chances are if you had it the first time you can again. And you dont have to be overweight either it can be a number of facts like what race are you did your mom have it etc. its part of being pregnant and it is manageable as long as your willing to keep it under control. Glyburide is one that they put me on in both pregnancies and it seemed to help me BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR before you even change your insulin doses. Any high lvl in sugar can affect your baby at anytime during your pregnancy. If you have concerns ASK YOUR DOCTORS they are the best people to ask about this... Hope this helps

I have to monitor my glucose 4x a day. 95 fasting and 2 hours after meals below 120

lisa337 - 787 days ago.
Does anyone have information on what your blood glucose levels should be if you have gestational diabetes? My doctor did not diagnose me with it however he wants to treat me as if i have it bc my son is gaining too much weight and is measuring two weeks ahead. He was supposed to call me back with information but its been a week and if i need to get this under control apparently i have to do it myself! Ive left 3 messages with his office and heard nothing back. He wants me to monitor my blood glucose levels but I dont know what they should be! I dont even know what I should be eating other then sugar free.
