I'm having heartburn conditions too. This is my second pregnancy but I never had any of this during my first. I don't want to drink any medications as it might affect my child. Thanks for this tips.

Heartburn and indigestion are more common during the third trimester because the growing uterus puts pressure on the intestines and the stomach. The pressure on the stomach may also push contents back up into the esophagus.
What can you do to treat heartburn during pregnancy?
Preventing heartburn is the best way to deal with it! Here are some helpful hints to avoid heartburn:
Eat five to six smaller meals throughout the day rather than three large meals
Wait an hour after eating to lie down
Avoid spicy, greasy and fatty foods

An old wives tales says heartburn is linked to too much hair in babies head...i wonder if it's true...here's my story..my mom had a total of 9 children..I'm #9 :-) and she said of all of her kids one of them my brother gave her lots and lots of heartburn..the worse...and he is the only one with the most hair on he's entire body!! He is hairy like a monkey... Interesting story..I am having the worst heartburn, not cool!!!

I'm 34 wks pregnant this week and I have had the most horrid rancid rotten heartburn this time around with pregnancy than I ever thought possible. I have tried almost everything I can think of from vinegar to cold water to milk to just anything that I have read that could calm heartburn.
I've also taken otc stuff such as tums and maalox since my OB told me to try those I've also been told to take prilosec which I did, and I was also prescribed zofram to stop my nausea since the heartburn is so awful it causes me to be sick and NOTHING stays down. I have to say I had relief while taking prilosec but it's back... so nothing this pregnancy has worked nor will anything work.
I'm miserable and just want this little boy out! I want to be able to have an hour sleep again without having to run to the bathroom and be sick because my heartburn said so.

I'm seven weeks pregnant and have terrible heartburn, my doctor prescribed Zantac and it helps. What i also do to help the problem is to eat papaya and pineapple they work like a charm: they have digestive juices which helps.

I had bad heartburn with my first baby and I was very surprised when she came out with a full head of hair! It was so thick and dark, and I got compliments for it for weeks! I'm hoping that the heartburn I'm getting this time will get my child lots of hair again.

Help! Help! Help! I am unable to keep much of anything down for these past two weeks. I've been plagued with vomiting and sinus issues...I had to be rushed to the ER Thursday and for a common cold at that. The OB gave me a Pepcid-RX but that only helps a bit, I am a my wits end and need some advice please!!!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant & Just spent the night in the emergency room (& DH was out of town) for bad chest pains that wouldn't go away that turned out to be bad reflux. It didn't burn or put a sour taste in my mouth...just tight chest & painful enough to wake me up in the middle of the night. Glad everything is ok with me and my baby boy but what a scare! I wouldn't have guessed heartburn!

I'm 12 weeks pregnant, and I just started having what I think is heartburn a couple weeks ago...it was so bad, I woke up, gagged, threw up, and had dry heaves. I have this awful feeling of something choking me all the time, and now I've developed a constant swallowing-air feeling. I'm about to go nuts! I really, really hope it goes away soon. If I have to deal with this for the rest of the pregnancy, I don't know what I will do! And it doesn't help that all of my favorite foods are apparently acidic. :( I'm gonna try some of the remedies listed on this forum, I hope they work! And for everybody else suffering, I hope something works for you too!

Try apple cider vinegar. It tastes awful but it works. Just take a couple tablespoons before you eat or when you feel the heartburn starting. I have been using it for a couple years and it has really helped me. To make it sort of fun I put mine in a shot glass, somehow this helps it go down a little easier.lol

Ladies! - you've gotta try this! - I'm now on week 37 and since around week 26 I was the same as many of you, my heartburn got so bad that even water and antacid prescribed by my doctor were giving me heartburn - so horrilbe that the feeling was creeping up all the way up my chest and neck and round the back of my head. I was being sick every night and getting really worried that I wasn't giving the baby enough food. - I looked up all the remedies and tried everything and I've inally found the cure for me - its so simple ALMONDS! ~ I eat a few when I wake up and then munch on them throughout the day - I can even eat meals now without begin sick! - not big ones but small is better than nothing! - I still suffer a bit if I eat late at night but I think thats just because my stomach has shrunk so much - I can't begin to tell you the difference these little nuts have made to my life! - I had to post it on a forum because I know how horrible heartburn can be and wanted to share this little miracle cure with you - hope it works for you too!

I get heartburn the worst when I don't eat for stretches. When it started, it did not even feel like heartburn, just bad chest pains. Strange. Now I'm starting to get it everyday. The only thing that helps is Zantac 75 and Tums. Works great when I catch it in time!

I feel the same way, I can drink milk, eat small meals, take tums whatever and nothing gets rid of it. I cant sleep because I'm up peeing every 5 mins plus with heartburn from the darkest part of hell haha. I have one more week left so I guess I can deal with it. Nothing I have tried has worked for me at all. Guess its just one of those things.

My heartburn is killing me. I'm nearly 38 weeks pregnant and I just can't stop throwing up cause it's so bad. Doesn't matter what I eat or drink or the medications I take. Nothing helps it at all. Hopefully the baby comes like tomorrow so this hell will be gone.
