monika- yeah, tried the sex. not enjoying it at all. it hurts, cant reach things like i used to, i just get frustrated and annoyed. im measuring right where i should be. cool thing is that i lost 2 lbs this week, its amazing what happens when i get told i have no restrictions. and let me tell you, i sleep, walk, and feel so much better with out that damn cerclage in, wow. Good luck with your removal next month, time is just flying by now. Another thing I noticed is now that I am off bedrest, I am on here more often, just like before I was on bedrest, strange!

monika01 - 206 days ago.
beegee ~ wow~ you are making it alright...lol.. do you have an average size baby? i think my ob is thinkin gabout inducing me at 37/38 wks or c-section ... my belly is mwasuring 38 now and i am almost 33 ks... supposidly 33 is normal.. not 38 i am growing 2 instead of 1 a week... and it is getting crazy ! i am ready to pop soon.. stich out on the 17 and i think i wil try to get her out shortly after.. i wll be 36 wks... have you tried sex??

beegee - 206 days ago.
hey ladies- had another check this week, 38wks now. Still 1-2cm dilated, and 70%effaced. He tried to strip my membranes, but the only thing he succeeded in doing was causing my hoo haa to hurt for the rest of the day, lol, oh well. I'm going to try the E.P.O. tonight, my ob suggested it. We'll see. Next appt is next Mon, I'll be 38wks 6d

beegee - 210 days ago.
monika- not too much pain, but it was uncomfortable. As for where the knot was, I have no idea. He pulled out 2 different stitches, that was the pulling I felt. I just can't believe that I was only 1cm. So I prayed for the last months that this baby stay put, and now I am sweet talking to it telling it how much more room it would have if it came out, but the baby isn't buying it. Damn kid is smart!!! precious- try not to stress. the cervix is a dynamic muscle, it will change length multiple times in a day. Just take it easy, and relax some. drea- I was terrible on bedrest, just terrible. I walked around, went shopping, helped lay some pavers, and build a deck on my house. I took it easy, and didn't push it too hard. But I def took lots of breaks if i felt tired at all, or felt any pain. And I was stable the whole time with my cervix hanging out at ~1.5cm and funneled since wk 20 mccoy- first congrats and welcome. Second the fears and worries that you have won't go away, and they take forever to get over. Just make sure you express all your concerns with your dr, and lay out the plan for your pregnancy and keep an open mind. I wanted to be on bedrest at the beginning. Dr said he didn't believe in it. At wk 20 my cervix shortened alot in the last week, so they put me on bedrest, and I hated it. So all I can say, is keep an open mind

monika01 - 210 days ago.
mccoy~ COngrats!!!! yes definatly convice you ob to put you on bedrest... tell him that from all you have heard and been told it can be benifical and you want to be doing all in your power to help ensure this baby is in your lives alive.. b/c your dr can't garentee all will be fine without bedrest.. you need to tell them that unless he cannot garantee babys survaval then it is in your best intrest and babys to just lye there and wait it out.. also ask about progestron.. there are many forms and it can help prevet preterm labor.. i was on it even though i didnt have preterm.. relly but my mid at ease.. even my bllood pressure went down.. less stress.. good for baby and me .:O) congrats and best wishes

Hey girls. I posted on here a while back, but I'll re-cap real quick. We lost our daughter back in Jan. to IC that was unknown. Since then, I have went back on Clomid, 4 rounds, & just found out it finally worked! My Dr. Appt is 8/1 and I'll be having the cerclage at 12 weeks. I'm nervous, excited & scared. Although we are missing our daughter, we are excited about another baby coming into our lives. I just pray that everything stays ok. They tslked about not needing bedrest, but I work 5 days a week & can't just leave if I feel I need to rest or lay down. I'm hoping I can convience him to complete a medical leave form for me. Anyway, Please keep us in your prayers & I'm so thrilled to see all of you gals doing so well.

monika01 - 210 days ago.
dreveaga~ i was about 75 % bedrest at 25 nd continued to be so till about 28 then down to 50% and reaminaed like that till 30 wks.. now at 32 i am only resting when my feet swell up to much...lol.. i am not being monitered since 30 wks for cervix lenght,.. seems to be holding.. :O) it good to take it wasy and still lye down a lot.. no lifting or anythign.. but heck.. go for dinner.. and see your friends for an hour or two.. this is the short streach and soon you will have a lil one .. so enjoy yourself .. in moderation... best wishes!!

DReavega - 210 days ago.
Well tomorrow I hit 28 weeks I'm so excited to be in the third tri! The only issue I'm having is my mfm dr thinks I don't need to remain on bedrest. My cervical length was 3.5 this week and she is no longer going to monitor it. My ob on the other hand thinks bedrest is still needed another 4 weeks. I haven't been really following strict bedrest since 25 weeks. I'm basically observing bedrest about 80% of the time but have such a hard time staying down. How active is everyone else at this gestation, or how active active were you?? I really feel my cervix is behaving! :)

monika01 - 210 days ago.
so i went to the ob yesterday and i measured 6 more cm in 2 wks/ on my bely.. so i am getting another u/s in 2 wks to see just how big she is.. her lil bum fits in my entire hand.. so not so lil bum.. she gets that from me..lol. also i gained 5 pds in 2 wks... ahhh.. i wonder if thats got something to do with cola drinking? probably... :Op

precious03 - 210 days ago.
Hello Ellie and Monica, thank you for your sincere and kind words. I went to the hospital last night for observation after sever pain in m back and pressure in my pelvic region. They gave me a shot and more medicine for my cervix and after a few hours I was able to come home. Woke up this morning and delighted to know that I am still pregnant. Two more days and it will be week 22! My new goal is 24 wks minimum. I know that the cervix can always change. I hope for changes for the better. Anyways, I hope everyone else is hanging in there. Really, what else can we do, right?! Best wishes to all and hope to hear good news from everyone.

elliebethl - 210 days ago.
Oh Precious i really do hope that your contractions stop and that you can hold on for a few more weeks at least, are you being kept in hospital? If not is there anyone that can come and look after you for a while and keep you company? I am going to say a prayer for you now. Stay as still as possible with a pillow under you bum to elavate your hips and try to read a book or something and relax your mind, hopefully it will all blow over and then they can put the cerclage in. Love to you and your baby girl.

monika01 - 211 days ago.
Precious~i am so sorry to hear that.. i hope you are able to lye there with feet up at hip level or higher...it helped me go from 2. to 3.5 at 22 wks.. best of luck.. if you feel any change at all go to the er immd. best of luck!

precious03 - 211 days ago.
Just got back from the dr and my cervix has gone from 2.7 to a critical 1.32. They are worried and believe that it is going to be a battle to try and win to keep me pregnant as I am only in my 21st week. I got my first injection of progesterone and they also started me on a blocker to try and prevent contractions that was started today. I am so scared! She is not ready for birth yet. I go back on Tues if I make it to recheck the cervical length. They cannot do a cerclage due to the fact that my cervix is contracting and this would put me in labor. According to the drs, if I make it to next wk or the week after..they will take me around to see the Nic unit and prepare us for preterm. y cervix was at 2.7 on Monday and then today it is down. Just a few days this changed happened. It is horrible to not be able to do anything about this. I just lay in bed and feel the pains and pray that there is no blood, constant pain or water gush. The pains are intensifying. I pray for my baby girl, please be a fighter and be strong.....I am so sorry that my body is failing you!

jumama - 211 days ago.
Hi everyone happy to hear some of you are still holding on and baking the babies. Thought I'd stop in and finally check on how everyone was doing I had the boys at 35 weeks Jacob was discharged with me. Manuel was doing good the first night but than had a sleep apnea spell and was sent to the nicu he was discharged 6 days later and is doing really good. They are now a month old how the time seems to pass by so quick. Good luck ladies.

AshlieLew - 211 days ago.
Just want to thank yall for answering my question. Going to the doc today and I have a list of questions. I hope this puts me at ease and i get preggers soon. Thanks again!!

elliebethl - 211 days ago.
My check up went well girls my cervix has no funneling and measured minimum of 18mm so I will be measured again at 24 weeks and if i have thinned a lot steroids will be given to baby's lungs. If not I will get them done at 28 weeks. My consultant seemed happy with everything so fingers crossed.

elliebethl - 211 days ago.
Proudmummy. Progesterone is the most important hormone we make during pregnancy as it has a lot of functions with the cervix and uterus. When they give you progesterone pessaries they help to relax the uterus to prevent contractions and strengthen the cervix and even the baby if born early is proven to have less complications. I would insist they start you on progesterone suppositories/pessaries and that they measure your cervix again in 4 weeks at 16 weeks and again at 20 weeks. Sometimes we don't get an answer to why we had a loss of a baby. We lost Taylor at 40.3 weeks when his heart stopped and were never given a solid answer. Now we are to be induced at 38 weeks with future pregnancies. My next pregnancy my waters broke at 20 weeks no symptoms but I had funneling and was positive for bacterial vaginosis so it was a combo of short cervix and infection. We had to deliver baby a week later. So now I am 16 weeks pregnant. Have been on progesterone since 10 weeks and cervix measured since 7 weeks. Last week I hAd the stitch in and now my cervix has stopped shortening if it ever was as it can go up and down. But now I am starting to feel more positive. Change hospitals go private but make sure they keep an eye on you and ask ask and ask again for progesterone. I wish you luck and like I said no answer as to why you lost last baby does not mean it will hAppen again so stay positive and report any tightenings even if painless as although they might be bh they might not be and anything else report it. But try not to stress as it's not good for you.

precious03 - 211 days ago.
Good morning Ladies. Well off to another Dr appt with my reg OB for ultrasound and appt.uggghhhhh! Every week, one doc and then the other. I know it is for the safety of my unborn child so no regrets just tired. You know how that goes. Proud Mommy, everyone has given you such good advise. I know how tuff it is to deal with pregnancy after a loss. Even though I didn't have preterm labor previously, I did have a miscarriage in my second trimester.. The baby was having heart complications. It took over a year to try again and then I got pregnant with my son that is now 3.5yrs old. I ended up having Placenta Previa That didn't make things any easier. Pregnancy ended up being a success with him other than bed rest at 8 months. But who could complain about that. I know it is still tough. I still panic about things more than I should but the loss still haunts me. The biggest thing is TRY not to worry so much. It is very apparent that you are feeling a load of stress. I switched drs this preg due to feeling like I wasn't receiving the care I needed. It was a good choice. Although the appts are longer, I really feel like my concerns are as important to the doc as myself and believe me that really does make the world of a difference. It doesn't seem like your getting that because of all the uncertainties that you mention. There isnt anything I don't discuss with the docs. This is the time to be selfish and get what you need out of each appt. Or bodies are going to do what they want but I really would n't worry about your cervix until it becomes and issue. Just because you had an issue with it last time does not mean it will happen again. Sound like the doc had no reason to believe that the prev miscarriage would be caused from anything else but the diagnosis was inconclusive. Just take it day by day, have a great relationship with your doc or find another one that you can. It';s a long journey so make the best of it. Take care of yourself and that baby mommy. Sounds like your moving along just fine and you want to def stay on that track. Best wishes

proudmommy~ i was put on prometruim .. 200mg. daily .. it is an oral pill you take... i took it before bed :O) there are shots and also vag. insert pills... my ob recomened the oral as i was not at risk.. per say fo rpreterm and took them as a precaution.. she didnt do the vag ones b/c i have short C and misshaped C on top of IC. short and mishapped were found at 13.5 wks when placeing my cerclage as i was balely 2 then. :O( i took them from wk 16- 26 wks... i found they stopped discharde and any brx hicks hichi had early on... ask your dr till when they can putit in cerclage... i was seen at the ob every 2 wks and the internal u/s every 2 wks so i was hecked weekly from wk 16 -30.. though i saw my ob every wk from wk 16 -23 b/c i was so so scared ... good luck 'O)

jessa521 - 212 days ago.
proudmommy....I'm on weekly progesterone injections (they go from week 16-35). The injections tend to help prevent preterm labor for those who have gone into preterm labor for no known reason. They don't know exactly why it works, but the statistics are pretty good. Glad to hear your cervix is long. My cervix was measured every two weeks from week 16-24 to look for shortening. If it began to shorten, the doctor said they could place a cerclage up until week 24 if necessary. After week 24, they are still measuring my cervix monthly until 30 weeks. I was on progesterone my last pregnancy and after 7 weeks of bedrest, made it to 35 weeks. I'm really hopeful to make it to 35 weeks again. Best wishes!!

ProudMommyOfAnAngel - 212 days ago.
Monika- what does progesterone do ?

monika01 - 212 days ago.
proud mommy~ you need to be firm and tell them that if they can't garentee it 100 % in writting that all will be fine and no 2nd tri loss then fine.. ( they ill never garentee anything) so tell them you want to be on the safe side and take all the precasutions posibe to not have to go through another loss... .. this is how i put it to my ob and she caved on my prgestrone.. i dont know how it works in the staes you can also ask to be refered to a periantoligist ( highrisk specialist) and se each one every 2 wks which is every dr a week even ... till wk 24 b/c then your baby has a 50 % chance at least... you need to be firm.. if possible get your mom or MIl on your side and take her with you.. i know its odd.. but i am your age and honestly i get a way better response going against and questioning the dr with an 'oldr ' person there.. it is ridiculous but thats they way it is...

carlos-erin - 212 days ago.
ProudMommyOfAnAngel-With my 1st loss the Dr. didn't know for sure why I lost them. I think it was from an infection. Even though the 1st baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and I bleed I never passed that one. The 2nd baby I had lots of contractions at 12 weeks and ended up passing that baby but still retained the one from 6 weeks. Ended up having to have an emergency D&C. Dr. doesn't think the D&C caused my IC since it was still early in the pregnancy. She thinks it is just something I was born with. I would be requesting to have some internal ultrasounds just to make sure. Dr.s are can make mistakes and it would suck for them to not be taking the precaution. Nobody should have to go through multiple losses.

ProudMommyOfAnAngel - 212 days ago.
Monika- is it possible to get the cerclage even of the doctor doesn't think you need it? And can they watch me closely and have my appointments every two weeks just because I Want them to, to feel safe ? I have Medicaid right now so I'm not sure what all it will cover. But if it was up to me, I think I would want to get the cerclage just in case. As a sort of safety net like you said

monika01 - 212 days ago.
proud mommy~ you need to tell your dr that you want to be watched closly and ask her to havve an internal at 14 wks and 16 wks ... also ask her if you can get the cerclage as a saftey net.. if you are unsure about the care your geting get a second opinion maybe a high risk ob.. it is so importatn for you to feel taken care of.. it will give you peice of mind.. also ask the dr if she can garentee you wont lose this baby at 2nd tri and get it in writing. it can be seen as rude .. but lossing a baby is just well.. unbearable... so all the best and fight for the care you deserve !
