DReavega - 217 days ago.
My cervix lengthened from 2.1 when I had my stitch put in to about 4 cm at my last visit! I have my next check on monday and I'm hoping its still long since I've been more active lately!!

monika01 - 217 days ago.
ellie ~ your pin should subside within 5 days for sure...my cervix went all over from 2.0 to 3.5 good luck

elliebethl - 217 days ago.
Katrina I'm sure you know but a kidney infection can put you into pre term labour so that might be why your cervix has shortened. But it also sounds like you have a dynamic cervix so it might lengthen again as it's a muscle your cervix. I am hoping that now mine is stitched it will lengthen a bit, anyone had that happen?

elliebethl - 217 days ago.
I was told to go about my daily activities but signed off for two weeks I am sitting on the sofa now knees up as it is uncomfortable to sit in car seat or hard chair I won't for a while. Anyone else here who has got a cerclage in place does it get back to normal so you can sit in car and drive etc I don't want to be in pain for the next 5 months?

monika01 - 217 days ago.
penny grace~ my ob also told me that bedrest can cause clots so i was encourages to make my own lunch and do some streaching. bending knees and toes as often as possible.. also i did lots of arm movments to help circulation.. i guess i was in a diff. boat i was at 2.5 for the whole time till week 24 and then was at 3.5 for a few week and am now at 2. whcih is fine i am 31 wks and bed rest is only 20%. i hope to make it to 34 or 36 wks... not longer not since the baby is measureing still 90-99 percentile... and a vag birth would be nice.

precious03 - 217 days ago.
Hello Ladies. Read through all the latest posts. It is so nice to know that I am not alone with all of these crazy feelings that are going on. I went to my reg OB yesterday and he is seeing me today to recheck my CL and also is sending me to speak with my High Risk Doc for getting the cerclage which he feels is pertinent that I get since I am almost at 21 weeks. Katrina, I don't even know where to begin if I were in your situation. The only thing I would do is just complete bed rest as much as possible. The nice thing is that your cervix is increasing in length so that has to bring some relief. I pray for all of you ladies. This is so tough on all of us and the family. It's like a roller coaster ride that wasn't elected. I am so glad Alicia for you and that precious child of yours. Thank you for checking on all of us if you should come back to read any of the posts. It made me so happy to see what you wrote and just the kind words that you shared. Thanks again! Hope the cervix length is still at 2 and is holding. Keeping my fingers crossed!

bunnysmummy12and3(Sharon) - 217 days ago.
Hello Ladies I hope you are all safe and well and those babies of yours a cooking nicely. I have a question for anyone who has had more than two babies with a cerclauge. My husband and i are talking about another baby, but arnt sure if we highten our risk having a third cerclauge. We are greatful for Poppy & Finn and so lucky they arrived safely but DH is one of 3 and at my age it's now or never for a last try. Any advice would be great. xxx

PennyGrace - 218 days ago.
Hi there congratulations everyone on keeping the babies baking! I have had my cerclage placed at 17 weeks and I am now 20 1/2 weeks. I know that all of you are on strict bed rest but my Obstetrician recommended no bed rest because of the risk of clots, and I can do pretty much everything with the exception of heavy lifting! And bonus my cervix length hasnt changed it is still 3.2cm no funneling or beaking! I was sceptical because I truley believed in bedrest. But I am stoked that everything is holding well and Dr is happy. Just not looking forward to the steroid injections the Dr wants me to have 'just in case' OUCH they are sooo painful. Good luck to everyone.

ddhenry1220 - 218 days ago.
Hey ladies, I know it's been awhile. But baby and I are good. Last cervical check last week was 4.6cm. I am now 28 weeks, yay. Nice to see that everyone is doing so well. Still on p17 shots weekly and procardia every four hours. Still praying...want to make it to 36 weeks...

monika01 - 218 days ago.
atrina ~ i hpope your baby will cook till full term but if i were you i would elvate my hips as much as possbile and stay in full on bedrest till wk 25 or 26. also ask ur ob to give you more frequent u/s and checks... also tell them that when you com ein you want o be lying down asap. so dont do anything!!! i found elevating my hips really helped

katrina84 - 218 days ago.
I posted here about 2 weeks ago when I went in for my 20 week ultrasound and found out my CL was 2.5 cm. Last week at my follow up appt. my cervix was measuring 3.5 so my perinatologist decided not to place the stich to hold him in longer. But now as of tuesday my cervix has again shrunk to 2 cm. Now being 22 weeks they say Im too far along for the stich and it would pose more risk then benifit. They also did a fFn test and that came back negative. I'mwondering if that really means I have nothing to worry about for the next 2 weeks. I have been contracting for the last few days and they found out that the antibiotics they put me on a month ago for a kidney infection were the wrong meds. I had a staph UTI and it was resistant to the antibiotics so now Im on the right meds and the drs hope this is where all the problems are coming from. Any insight would be great. Good news was my baby measured 1 lb 7 oz on tue which is a great weight for a 22 week baby! Thanks in advance for any advice or if anyone has experiaced this if they could share their story with me. Good or bad. I just dont want to get my hopes up too high to be crushed. I have been through a lot this year and dont want to lose another baby. I'm still going to hold my breath until 24 weeks but am hoping to make it much farther.

alicia diane - 218 days ago.
Omg.. I am so happy to read how well everything is going for you guys & how far so many of you have made it, thats great! I havent been on since my daughter was born & as i read all of your comments it is so hard to believe i was once in your shoes, the stress the worry & the excitment all rolled up into one. Looking bk everything that i went through to get my baby girl here was so hard but so very worth it & it all was a amazing moment in my life. I look at my 3 1/2 month old baby girl & still cant believe shes all mine & i think God everyday for her. I know its hard & scary ladies but time truly does fly & you'll be holding your little miracle in your arms very soon & before you know it they'll be growing up so fast that you'll want to stop time :) you all are doing great, good luck & keep faith <3

elliebethl - 218 days ago.
Well I am back from my check up a day late as I stayed in and had the cervical suture placed I had definitely shortened and was nearly down to 15mm he told me to come back next week and I said I want to have it in now I am not waiting another week so it went really well and I recovered well and am home in bed now on iPod. Keep fingers crossed for me I am signed off for 2 weeks and go back next week to check up. I know I made the right decision and there was no funnelling or dilating and it's still early 15 weeks so the doc said i can be cautiously optimistic.

precious03 - 218 days ago.
The progesterone applications that I was instructed to take ended up making the pressure and cramping increase. I went in for observation and was instructed to discontinue and follow-up in a few days. Today I go for the Follow-up appt. Still having cramping and pressure. Nervous to find out if my cervix is continuing to shorten

jessa521 - 218 days ago.
monika....my last cervical length scan is scheduled at 31 weeks, then I will only see my regular OB. I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow. My last length was 2.8 and I found out on Tuesday that I'm not dilating yet, which is awesome news since I started dilating between 26-28 weeks last time. I'm so happy this pregnancy is going so well. I'm really feeling confident I can make it to at least 34-35 weeks again.

monika01 - 219 days ago.
beegee~ lol.. congrats on your length jezz what up with the length.. i know wheni was terrified elevated i was gettin g2 . -2.5 then i was 25 wks with not as much risk and i was 3.2.. like wtf? now i m on barley any bedrest :O) so nice an di am holding strong at 2.1 for 3 wks.. so weird.. anywho... i am super stocked on your out date.. let me know how is goes only 5 more wks fo me... it is so nic to hav found this website.. i remember when you were just gettin gyours in and i was terrieied.. then i got mine and you ere put on bed rest.. lol.. funny now.. lifes scariest moments for me... yet now i laugh.. oh and cry though i am sure thats just hormones... :O) :O/yeah.. babies almost here!!!! stocked just stocked!

beegee - 219 days ago.
As for me, I'm 36wks 1 day. The ultrasound the other day showed that my cervix was 2.9cm with funneling. 2.9? WTF? it's never been that long, with the exception of the day I got the cerclage it was 3.2cm. Anyways, next monday is D day, the cerclage will be be coming out that day, and I am terrified!!!! My fiance is soo excited telling all his coworkers that we can have the baby any day after that stitch comes out, lol. Bag isn't packed, babies room isn't done, carseat isn't installed, still don't have a dr picked out yet. Yup, I'm in great shape

beegee - 219 days ago.
hey ladies- once again I finally hopped on the computer to check everyone out. katrina- welcome, and I agree with everyone else. Why haven't they recommended the cerclage? Good luck though. jellybean- glad all is going well drea- congrats on that length. My CL was never that long. The longest I ever got was 3.2cm, man. ellie- welcome. It seems like you made up your mind about waiting. One thing a lot of us can atest to it the guilt that you put yourself through once you have a loss due to IC. I also had a cone biopsy in 2008. In 2010 we got pregnant on our first try. Knowing that I could have IC because of the cone, I debated on getting the cerclage or not. We decided to wait until I was 20wks to get checked again. Lets just say I delivered my son at 21wks, 2 days later. Having a cerclage, even if there is only a small chance that you might have IC, won't cause any extra harm, but the pain that you could feel because you decided to not get it, let me tell you, you want to just die. Sorry this is so long, but you asked for our opinions. Monika- that pain that you are feeling, I feel it a lot, and the dr says its normal. I also have a pain that feels like really bad uti pain sometimes when I walk. But if I stop stepping, then I don't feel it, it's strange!!!

monika01 - 219 days ago.
is it normal that after 30 wks the ob doesnt send you for reg u/s for cervical length ? i am gonna ask her for a u/s at 34 /35 wks so check baby size as sh said that if baby is really big i can have a csection.. yet last app. she didnt talk abou tit... i mentioned that maybe we can c/section me when e take out the stich/.. she said she would nt' be takin gout the stich f i were to possibly go straight into the delivery room... i am confsed...?

elliebethl - 221 days ago.
Thanks again Monika for all your advise, if i have it i will try not to worry too much, your lucky to have general i bet i will have to lye awake shitting it. I am really hoping that if i stay lying down and taking it easy as much as possible that it will be enough to hold it at that length and also taking the progesterone every night will help to keep it strong enough, it would be so good if i could get through without it, but at least they will catch it early and can put the stitch in strait away this time. My cone biopsy was for cin2 and i was never told it could cause a problem, i even asked my midwife when i was pregnant with Taylor if it would cause any problems and she said only in labour it could open easily or not open at all. I have only had one out of numerous dr's blame my late miscariage on the cone biopsy all the others blamed the infection which turned my waters green in the end. but it is the cause for my short cervix, my consultant said it is short but its weather its competant short or incompetant?? Time will tell i suppose. Thank you all so much. Will keep updated with all your posts to see how your getting on and let you know how i get on too.

monika01 - 221 days ago.
elli~ the surgery is okay... i wa but out .. no epi. which in my case was good b/c it was suppose to take only 2 hr s max to do the procedure it took ver 3.5 for me b/c it is not only really short , and i have ic but it is musshapped too.. looks like a clover leaf my ob said hardest one ever she said... i was fine after the 3rd day. no pain at all and i spoted for only a few hours. though i get how your worried its scary especailly after a loss. i got mine at 13 and 4 .. though next time i will be on full bedrest from wk 10 and hopefully wk 12 have it in... ~~ any one deiver vag. a 9 pder or bigger after bedrest, my ob aid i can have a c section if shes over 10pds. i am asking for a u/s for wk 34/35 to get a nother measurmetn.. she is still in the 90-99% so i am looking at a 9 pder being very likley or biger... oh god i am so scared to have labor with a full term baby... watching all these birth shows terifies me..lol

elliebethl - 221 days ago.
Carloserin yes I did have a cone in 2003 but in 2009 I carried to full term and had to be induced I think the scar tissue stopped me going into lab prop and that's why Taylor died but will never know. I will make my mind up at 16 weeks I am nearly 15 so I will have measurements taken this wed and next and discuss in full with dr. I do lye down as much as I can watch tv and read and Internet in bed I am lying flat on my back on my I pod typing with one finger right now. Last time it was Xmas and I was doing shopping and stressing when it all happened now steve goes to tesco on his own. So I will bed rest 50 % self prescribed.

carlos-erin - 221 days ago.
elli-Did you have a cone biopsy done? If so that can cause your IC. I would have the cerclage. If you are in the states and are having a lot of complications and need to be on bed rest then they can put you on disability for the remainder of the pregnancy. The pay is not that much different from what you would be making at work. Just an idea.

elliebethl - 221 days ago.
Hi again Monica, i never had this in my two pregnancies that i went full term, but everyone is different, i had a lot of pain in my cervix from head grinding when Taylor was head down in the last tri, so it could just be the pressure, maybe you should ask you consultant/midwife for advise on the urge to push feeling, and try to avoid squating, if you can pick up some other way maybe try to keep your legs together and not push your bum out just sort of lower yourself careful down and do a pelvic floor at the same time, it depends how bad it is, take it easy, not long to go now.
