Dmayla- thanks it is so reassuring to hear about success stories with a cerclage. I don't see any reason why you would not be able to go vbac with the cerclage.

chelle7 - 89 days ago.
Hi Ladies, i lst my dd a mnth ago due to ic, she was 20 weeks. It is so reasuring to here examples of successful pregnancys where cerclarges were placed. I think my next pregnancy i will have to have a stitch placed!! xx

dominique23 - 89 days ago.
dmayala -hey! im doing good wow your lil man is 8mnts! doesnt it just seem like yeseterday we were all pregos! so your vbac, i dont think the cerclage has any bearing on that. you can have normal vag delivery . if it is your goal what you want then they can try and make it happen. babybuller - sorry about your previous loss. what is a recovery stitch? I have a new doc since we moved...so i do need to speak with her about my plans, make sure she will do the cerclage if not ill be looking for a new doc, my old ob told me if i ever have problems to call her she will do the cerclage for me and the docs will just have to moniter it lol but shes an 8 hour drive! the TAC, is permernt cerclage bascially, no you dont have to do bedrest, but that also means you have to have a cestion you cant deliver vag. i personally wouldnt get that because i do not want to have to be forced to have a csection, unless i was higher risk, like carrying multiples than i would for sure get it because there is no way my cervix would hold more than one baby in!

dmayala - 89 days ago.
HEllo to every one I'm glad to see that there are so many ppl in here! Dominique 23- how are you I got on here for the same reason were thinking of having another one hopefully a girl this time around, but I wasnt sure how having another cerclage would work! good luck to u, I cant believe shes already almost 1 , i still remember when u were preg. waiting for her to come out they grow so fast , mine is already 8 months! To all the ladies stay with the bed rest its sooo important.... I went to 38 weeks with my last baby and i was on bed rest from week 12 when i got my cecerclage placed to week 28, I got my stitch removed at 34 weeks, and he didnt want to come out! ur all in my thoughts, I also wanted to know has anyone heard any thing about having a vbac with IC? I cant seem to find any info on it, if anyone has done this any info would be great, since i had to have a c-section I really want to have a natural birth next time, I had vaginak with my 1st one and it was better than the c-section thanks all!

babybuller - 90 days ago.
Yildirim- thanks I think i will ask to be seen until viability that would make me more comfortable. I only shower every couple days also and sit while I shower. It will all be worth it in the end! I know how you feel about waiting two week in between appointments. It makes me worry all of time, and being in bed with nothing to do seems to make it worse with all of the time on my hands to think.

babybuller - 90 days ago.
Dominique 23- thanks for all the information. That is amazing that you made it to 37 weeks last time! So you are thinking about trying again? This is my second cerclage. Last pregnancy they had did a recovery cerclage on me at 15 weeks but I was already dilated 5cm and only held on to 19.6 weeks. This time they did a preventative cerclage and it really seems to be working. In your next pregnancy do you plan on having the preventative cerclage done early? I've been also reading about the TAC, which I don't think requires bed rest. With a family to take care of that may be a better option for you. Have you talked to your doctor about what his thoughts would be in future pregnancies for you?

dominique23 - 90 days ago.
babybuller - My doc was a high risk ob, i saw her once every 2 weeks and got an ultra scan which measured my cervix every 2 weeks as well, then when i got to 28 weeks i saw her once aweek and they stop measuring your cervix about 32 weeks. your doing pretty good, you have some good length i think you will make it until stitch is removed at 36weeks and you will prob have to dance to get the baby out! most women not all..but a lot had their stitches out took about 2 weeks or so for baby to finally come . at least mostly all the women i was pregnant with on her last year. i had mine out at 33 weeks she didnt come out until 37 weeks! and i was off bedrest at that point. hang in there bed rest blows you can do it! when u get past 32 mark you can usually go to light activity. i was allowed from 20 weeks on, to shower, make myself food walk around but not be up for more than 20 min at a time. every 2 hours.

yildirim - 90 days ago.
Well you've gone down 0.1 Which you probably didn't go down at all - it maybe from not measure accurately the last time - but that's great news that you still have a great length. I totally know what you mean - ive been trying to keep my pregnant brain active with reading or online scrabble! Yes i have strict bedrest - just toilet breaks, my husband panics every time i have a shower so i have cut down to 1 shower every 2 days! Normally i saw my normal doctor every 2 weeks then the last 2 month just every 4 weeks. With this other doctor (who placed pessary) i am seeing her every 2 weeks. It costs a lot but its worth it - even those 2 weeks go slow.... With all my doctors i had ultrasounds and check ups every 2 weeks - but with cervical length we only discovered 2 weeks ago so from now on she will measure cervical length every time yes. Yes you should explain your worry and ask if its possible to be seen until viability - infact that should be standard - i dont no how it works in the US but it should be routine with high risk.

babybuller - 90 days ago.
Yildirim- just getting back from the doctor. Today I was measuring 2.4. I don't go back for two weeks. You should make it to at least 28 weeks, Bed rest has been the hardest part of this pregnancy. I only get up for bathroom breaks. This is my 7th week of bed rest and I will not be taken off until I deliver. I read and watch tv and that is getting old now. How is your bed rest going? Is your bed rest just as strict as mine? Also I was wondering how often do you see you doctor, and do they do cervical lengths every visit? Today my high risk doctor mentioned measuring my cervix again in two weeks and if it was still good sending my back to my regular ob. I am kinda scared about that I feel he should see me at least till I reach viability. What do u think?

yildirim - 90 days ago.
Babybuller - Good luck today - im sure it will be fine - 2.5 is a lot longer than mine! Yes im taking progesterone capsules and magnesium that fizzes in water. I will start steroids when i turn 28 weeks ( I hope i make it :o)) ) How has your bed rest been going? Are you completely bedridden or just taking it easy? Let us know how today goes - i hope all goes well.

babybuller - 91 days ago.
Yildirim- I understand what you are going through. I am so happy that you were able to get the rubber pessary placed. I have never heard of it before, but I am sure that it will help you get further along in your pregnancy. Are you taking any form of progesterone? I am heading to my high risk doctor this morning to get a measurement of my cervix. I have been staying at 2.5cm since my cerclage placement. I get so nervous that something will go wrong again this time around.

yildirim - 91 days ago.
WELCOME Babybuller :o))) Sorry to hear of your loss with you son...But great news you managed to have a cerclage place early to keep your baby safe in there. I hope your bedrest is going well - this is my 2nd week - it gets boring at times but im keep myself busy online! Dominique23 - Bbay dust to you! No its not instead of the normal stitch cerclage. If my cervix was longer and i was not so far gone i would have chosen to have a stitch cerclage. But for me i thought the risks were too high maybe making my situation worse. This rubber pessary was just a last resort - i choose to have it rather rather than doing just bestrest alone. Im still doing strict bedrest, Good luck with trying for baby no 2 - at least you can relax and have the cerclage done early :o)))

babybuller - 91 days ago.
I am new to this site. I lost my son Aiden at 19.6 weeks due to incompetent cervix in 2009. I am pregnant again and I am currently 19.2 weeks. With this pregnancy I had a cerclage at 12.4 weeks and I have been on strict bed rest since my cerclage was placed. I wanted to join this forum for support from other mommies going through the same thing.

dominique23 - 94 days ago.
Hi everyone, I was on here a lot when pregnant with my baby girl who will be 1 in just about 2 weeks! I found out i had IC at my 20 week check up i was about 1.4cm short! so did an emergency cerclaged did bedrest til about 33 weeks had my stitch removed then due to bleeding and contractions , dialted to 5 for about 2 weeks had my baby at 37 weeks healthy girl! So we are now trying for baby number 2! we are still breastfeeding so i know if i get pregnant i will have to stop due to such high risk of preterm and Im a bit nervous due to the IC, but glad that i know about it before hand, i can get the stitch in there early hopfully can avoid complete bedrest. more like modified rest. Wondering how many had their babies close together, how things went the second time with IC. yildirim - i have never heard of a rubber cerclage....so im guessing not like a reg cerclage where they go in stitch the cervix closed..thats strange anyways that your doc would want to do a cercalge after 23 weeks...its very much NOT recommened that women have them done past that point 23 weeks is cutting it. I will for sure have to look that one up though curious about the succese rate of that vs . McDonald cerclage. anyways i hope all you ladies are doing great

yildirim - 96 days ago.
Well its been a stressful last week! I been back to doctors yesterday and cervix had gone down to 1.2 from 1.7 and that was after 10days of bedrest. My doctor really wanted to do a cerclage - but this really negative feeling came to me telling me dont do it! I have researched online about the cerclage breaking the waters etc and doing more damage so maybe thats why this voice was saying dont do it.... So my husband said to the doctor what about a rubber cerclage ( i had never heard of it before but our other doctor said they do it in germany!) She said she had never done one before but they use them in germany - she knew of a doctor nearby who had some - she would collect one and fit it for me. She fitted it with her hands - a few seconds of pain - but after that i dont feel it at all. I really feel like i must tell you about this girls - as i feel like a miracle has been send to us - and why are doctors worldwide not using this rubber cerclage to save babies?! Im 25 weeks in 2 days - so i hope this will keep her there for another 10 weeks at least. Although this is not a guarrentee - its supporting the cervix closed and i am still on bedrest. i feel like i need to really stress this and let everyone know about this rubber cerclage as this could be saving so many late discovered incompetent cervixs and delay prem births. Its called a cerclage pessary - its a rubbery ring holding the cervix closed. Its a nightmare to find any info onlline about it - but there are 2 sites here that you can have a look - http://www.viomed.de/en/cerclagepessar and http://www.dr-arabin.de/e/cerclage.html This could save so many babies and i think this something that needs to be demanded if its too late for a stitch cerclage. if its too late for you too have a stitch cerclage them please ask your doctor about this - if it doesnt keep them in there till term it could keep them in there a few more weeks saving there lives and more developed when they arrive. I hope all goes ok for you all - i dont know if any of you are all still in same position as me - but if you are good luck with it all - it would be great to hear from someone who is in same position xxxx

isisgrl13 - 96 days ago.
7 more weeks and i get my stitch!!! last time i had no chance. this time my baby has a chance and i am so scared and at the same time so excited. i feel this is going to work out. pray for us pls.. i will pray for you ladies as well:) hugs

yildirim - 103 days ago.
I have spoken to my 4d doctor who discovered the short cervix - she said she can do a cerclage next wednesday - i will be 24 weeks and she said there is a risk - but the risk but not as bad as my baby turning up now as she may not make it as not fully developed and she is only 500grams....im still scared....

yildirim - 103 days ago.
Hi Girls - im sorry to hear of your losses your my thoughts :o( They discovered mine late and i am so worried and panicy - I am 23 week 5 days. tuesday they discovered my cervix was 1.7cm and i was put on bedrest, then yesterday they measured again and 1.4cm. As im nearly 24 weeks they said its to late for a cerclage and is too dangerous now - so all i have to do is pray and wait - im so scared and cant stop worrying crying thinking - as if cervix decreased 0.3 in just 2 days - then how long do i have left? i really wanted to keep this baby inside for another 10 weeks at least. I have been given magsium and prostestione tablets but i feel its not enough and im scared :o((

bellagina12 - 103 days ago.
So looks like I do no have an incomptent cervix. Thank goodness. My cervical length was 6cm with a full bladder, and 4cm without one. The midwife did a cervical exam and said it is soft but she can not put more than the tip of her finger in, which is perfect, and she can feel about 3cm of cervix. So things look well. She is suggesting that I do go off work to make it far less uncomfortable for me. I am going to go ahead and get compression stockings to see with that helps with any of the pressure and if not I will then go off work.

chelle7 - 107 days ago.
Hi brownie, i am new to this page but wanted to say how sorry i am for your loss. I myself have recently lost my dd at 20 weeks from a week cervix. i too had a lengthy hospital stay as i had pretruding membraines for 4 days which eventually ended in me giving birth. I think our situations are very similar!! I think the fact that i couyld feel my daughter kicking me knowing i could do nothing to help her was the hardest thing i have ever had to face!! If you ever want to talk i am here. Two weeks on and i'm starting to come out of the haze and process all that has happened!! x

babyinjuly09 - 108 days ago.
Brownie ~ I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family during this time.

bellagina12 - 109 days ago.
I am so sorry brownie for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time. Monika - I don't know anything about my cervical length yet, I have to wait for the ultrasound on thursday. I just don't understand the things I am feeling and looking for hopefully someone to shed some light on it, considering they keep telling me its normal pressure, but the pressure does not feel normal. Especially considering I am so small, and have been feeling it for a while. I am truely hoping this is not the case that its my cervix, but having a good feeling it is, as when I feel for it myself, its soft mushy, I can feel the opening, and I have no sides extendding into my vaginal canal. Its just driving me crazy not knowing whats going on and having no one to talk to about it because no one is or has experienced what I am describing... :(

browniebite - 109 days ago.
Thank you I appreciate it, I now know I have an amazing parinatal doctor that will take good care of me from the very beginning next time. Someday maybe we'll try again. Anyways wish you all the best

carlos-erin - 109 days ago.
Bwownie-So sorry to hear about your loss. It sucks every time somebody posts one of these updates. But please don't give up on your dreams of having your family. Some of us have had multiple losses before one of our miracle babies finally made it. You and your family will be in our prayers.

monika01 - 109 days ago.
Bellagina~ i didnt feel anything until it was to late.. but sitting is a no no... ... though precious is right that there is no proof of bedrest helping i can definatly say it does other wise i wouldnt have my baby.. i went from 1.2 cm length to 3 cm in a week.. i kept my hips elavated . try keeping your feet up and lying down as much as possible ....when playing with your toddle lye on your side put a pillow under ur but and legs wen sleeping to keep pressure off ur cervix.. your so close to viability. i was on bed rest from wk 13 to 17 then moderate from 17 to 30 i delivered at 34.4 wks. BEST of luck and keep your feet up as much as u can!!!
