I just wanna say, when I found out I had this crap, I felt soooo alone. I sure wish I found this website before...I would of been able to cope:)

dree2010 - 436 days ago.
Missing-same to u gf:)...I can't wait to c my doc next mon...I'm sure she will do an us, to see the lining...my boobs are sore now, and I'm having some back pain and slight cramping...I'm hoping its a period, so I can atleast try and get prego without going threw the process again!!! I'm really dreading losing weight then getting prego again!

dree2010 - 436 days ago.
Toomay-for me it just gave me the runs, real real bad..and it helped me lose weight. It wasn't until I was prego( and didn't kno it) when I ran into issues tryna get it down...I couldn't even open my moth to swallow it or when I did I would feel real quesy or gag out of control. I was on it for maybe about 3mths or so, then took my low dose of clomid and got prego.. Which was weird, cuz in nov 06 did it again and it didn't work..but I wasn't committed!

Toomanyyrs - i would get sick even if i didn't eat anything also not sure why and i would also get horrible cramps with it i felt out of it and just felt sick when it was at or over 1000mg of Metformin. i don't get a period unless i'm on the birth control pills or provera was given to jump start a cycle this has been for about 5 years before that i would get a period but not every month it would be all over the place. when taking Metformin this past Summer i started the ending of June and found out i was pregnant (big surprise in September 18) but i unfortunatelly lost my baby last month, see Metformin helps me Ovulate which is something my body doesn't do on it's own and you can have a period and not Ovulate. I've been pregnant twice but lost both 1st one Oct. 2009 and last month. I also devolped borderline diabets and borderlind blood perssure due to PCOS and so far that my exp with PCOS if you have any other personal question you are more than welcome to private message me on my profile too, i help as much as i can. I've not gotten to clomid yet so i'm not able to help you with that part sorry.

toomanyyrs - 437 days ago.
Thank you ladies for responding. As for what I eat when I feel sick is not greasy foods as it can be something as simple as cereal. And sometimes I have not eaten anything at all. Did anyone find that they had any discharge that looked a little like yellowish snot? Sorry it was the only thing I could think of that comes close. Not sure if either one of you know but I have been dealing with this condition for 23 yrs now and was married for 15 with no children. I am now in a much better relationship and we are trying for kids. So I am taking what ever I can to try to make it work. I am just not fam with all the side effects that it may cause or if what I am exp is for an other reason. I have read the side effects listed but no one knows better than the ones who take it. As some of what I am exp is not listed so thats why I am asking anyone for some insite on this. I was thinking perhaps someone out here has had the same exp with the met as I am having. Then again it may be something else. I was also hoping that maybe someone who has got preg and had an internal ultra sound done before they knew that they were, might be able to shed some light on what I was told about the med lining. If anyone is like me and never gets a period unless it is with med, well other than the odd nat one. If you have taken clomid to bring on ovulation and are now or have been preg and know what your levels were pls reply. I am wanting to know how high they should be before you are able to concieve. Also how far along were you before you knew that you were preg and what test did you have done? I was wondering if with our cond if the blood tests might not pick up on it right away like the home tests don't. As there is a lower level of what is needed to tell.

em2 stewarts wife - 437 days ago.
Toomany, it really depended on what I ate as far as the sickness went. Avoid greasey foods.. after about 2 or 3 weeks I was back to normal. And idk how fast it works for those TTC as I only took it to prevent miscarriage sio I cant help you there... good luck though!

missing*my*2angels - 437 days ago.
Dree2010 - i was on it but it made feel really sick so i got off it and than this past Summer got back on it but only once a day 500mg and it would still make me sick but not to bad, i hope this is your year also!!!Toomanyyrs - it different with each woman some it works right a way and other it takes longer, sorry there is not a specific time for it work.

toomanyyrs - 437 days ago.
I saw the Dr. back on Nov 15 and had an internal ultra sound done. He said the linning was not thin but not thick either. I guess if it is thin you are not preg but if thick then you are. He said mine was in the middle. So could this be that I am but it was too early to tell? He has increased my clomid to 3x this time around. I am aslo taking med to bring on my cycle. I have 3 more nights then if it follows the past times that I have taken it, it should start by the end of the week. If it doesn't I am to see the Dr. again to see what is up. My family Dr. has put me on metformin to try to help. This time around I have been told the correct way to take it. The question I have for anyone who is on metformin and got preg. What symptoms did you have and how far along were you before you found out that you were? I have been having symptoms of tender breasts, feeling sick and a little heart burn. The sick feeling happens a few times a day sometimes just before I need the met or just after I have eaten and taken it. I hope that if my period starts that taking the met and 3x clomid will bring on ovulation and I get preg. This last time with dbl clomid my numbers went from 1 to 2.5 , so the increase is working some. I have been taking met for about 2 weeks now. Not sure how long it needs to be taken before it starts to help. Anyone got any info for me?

dree2010 - 439 days ago.
missing-that is exactlyu, why i took bc..my periods just dont come..i think ive had maybe 2 with out have to bring on em, since i was 13. so the bc helps to regulate my (some what) to make sure im shedding that linning. metformin really helped me lose weight too..it gave me the runs like crazy..lol..but i would def do it all over again:)...im keeping my fingers crossed next year is my year:)

dree2010 - 439 days ago.
missing and nurse..thank yall so much for your advice. I really appreciate it. Ive never had any cysts, or issues just no periods and i guess weight gain:(..Ive realized that im gonna have to go on my regime that i did last year..bc for 3mths..then 3-6mths of metforn (500mg 3x's/day) the clomid after im at the weight that i want to be and am ready to try...im gonna start this next year in jan, so hopefulyy by the end of the summer i can try again and be prego before the end of the year. i really think that if I get prego again and its a girl..im not gonna have anymore...the process is soo hrard but def rewarding after you get prego. im still in schock about my son...i cant believe i have a baby...ppl thionk i waited until i waS 28 to have a baby..but in fact i couldnt get prego...

Fellow PCOSers, After 3 years and 4 miscarriages I have my perfect little girl. She is now almost 7 weeks old and I am just so amazed to have her. Dont lose hope guys. I was on 1500mg metformin and 200mg progesterone til 12 weeks and never got GD or anything. Nurse25, I had no real symptoms for PCOS which is why I went so long undiagnosed.

tina71 - 442 days ago.
I just wanted to drop you ladies a line and to let you know that it IS possible to get pg if you have pcos I was diagnosed with it about 5 years after having my first baby ( it took about 6 years of ttc to get her) I have had 2 babies since and now have one on the way. It took a long time to get pg but it finally happened 4 times for me. I have never had a mc and only one chemical pg (that I know of). Please keep you faith try not to stress to much cause that def. doesnt help any. Good luck to each and everyone of you, I wish you the best!!

missing*my*2angels - 442 days ago.
Dree2010 - I'm happy to hear you have your baby Congratulations!! that gives those of us hope with PCOS that still haven't been able to have a baby. I've had two misscarriages a year apart from each other. Now the bad part of having PCOS is that we will always have it there is no cure but the good thing is that it's treatable and you can keep it controled. Now for me if i'm not on the birth control pills i don't have any periods at all, Metformin helps me Ovulate, from what i've experienced and have heard/researched it's not immpossible for women to get pregnant having PCOS it's hard to carry the baby to term but with medicine/treatments it can be possible like in your case. An other point i would like to share is that my OB dr told me that if i'm not TTC than i have to be on the birth control no if's and's or but's because since i don't Ovulate every month and get regular periods having PCOS i'm more at risk of Ovarian Cancer and Uterine Caner so just keep it in mind or ask your doctor on your appointment about this and if you not trying to get pregnant get back on the birth control . There is a book that has help me called ' PCOS for dummies' and it has lots of info on how to live with PCOS and how to control it. I hopw this helps

nurse25 - 442 days ago.
Dree2010- PCOS unfortunately never goes away but like ur aware its treatable but isnt curable. Im in the process of being investigated to see if i have it as i have cysts on my ovaries, irregular periods but no other issues i.e. weight excess hair etc. So it could well be ur PCOS. Sorry to tell u this, however u know that u responded well to treatment and have had a baby so there is no reason why you wont have another. Im still waiting for my first xxx

dree2010 - 442 days ago.
HEy ladies..i ve been a member of this site for about a year and some months now..7months ago..i gave birth to a healthy baby boy after being diagnosed with pcos. I took me several yrs to get prego...but it was lst year i decided to lose weight and start treatment..so after using combos, of bc, metformin, provera and clomid..i conceived. i had no complications or diabetes..my opregnancy was perfect. the issue i have is, i think its back. i havent had a period in about 3mths now. i was taking bc for a while but had two periods wwhen i wasnt on it, so i thought i was cured. guess not. i have an appt with my doc on the 13th to see whats going on...i sure hope its not pcos again:(. my question is tho, has anyone heard or had pcos after birth?

amk1984 - 446 days ago.
Syn - My friend has PCOS and she does not have the insulin resistance but her Dr. still put her on the metformin and she was pregnant once cycle later! So even if you don't have the insulin resistance there is a good chance it will do you some good. Good luck!

synthiaw - 446 days ago.
amk1984 - yes and thanks, my doc didnt do any test, he did when i was first diagnosed and i asked him if he felt it was worth going on metfourm and he said i got nothing to lose by giving it a shot and people are saying he is doing wrong by me so that why i asking people

amk1984 - 448 days ago.
syn - I'm guessing you mean metformin. My Dr. did a glucose and insulin test. My glucose was in the low to normal range but my insulin was very high.

synthiaw - 448 days ago.
looking for some advice. How did your doc find he needed to put you on medfourm??

dominique23 - 449 days ago.
trustinhim- usually docs put you on metformin, that works for some people alone worked for me. Then theres fertility drugs like clomid is a common one, some doctors want you to try on your own with the metformin first for 6mnt- a yr since that usually what takes the 'normal' person to get pregnant. They can also give you provra to jump start your periods too. I would take a 10 day dose if i missed my period. Good luck with everything.

i have pcos.. so when i got pregnant it was a suprise! i am 24 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first she is soo healthy! anyone with pcos feel free to add me

trustinHIM - 450 days ago.
I was diagnosed with PCOS three weeks ago. I am 24 and the oldest of eight. I never thought that infertility would be a problem for me until I stopped having periods altogether( its been almost 1yr). When I got the news, I was really scared. I felt alone and cheated. I'm doing alot better now my mom prays with me daily. I stumbled on this site and I'm very happy to be able to talk to women who understand what I'm going through. I can confidently say that I want whatever God has for me! I havent gotten any meds yet, any sugguestions on what works best?

missing*my*2angels - 456 days ago.
Dolly i'm sorry you have to go throught this but don't throw in the the towel just yet!! Women with PCOS are able to get pregnant and have babies. Some women do suffer misscarriages (sadly) but others follow their doctor instructions get medicine and have babies. Every woman experience is different. There is a book i will recommand that is out there and has lots of great info its called ' PCOS for dummies' i have it and it gives you very detailed info. I felt the same way as you when i found out since my doctor told i wasn't going to get pregnant but i have been pregnant twice my thing is now figuring out why my babies stop growing it's sad and very hard to experience but i hope and have faith that with my doctors help i'll have my dreams come true of becoming a mommy one day!!! Good luck and don't give up just yet!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I am new to this. Im a 24 yr old female and I have just today had a ultra sound (blood tests to follow next week as I am on my period) and it looks like i have PCOS. I guess deep down I always had a feeling and the fact i lose my temper so quickly recently and have extra hairs growing i just new and now its official. Although i thought maybe i didnt have it too as i have a period every month sometimes irregular but near on every month i do have a period. does this mean i still ovulate and does this mean i could still have children? My life long dream ever since i was a child myself was to be able to settle down and have my own family and kids made by me. Now in a matter of ten minutes my dreams are shattered and I feel heartbroke. I have tried to look up as much information as i can but find it hard to understand the words the websites use. Help me people?

nurse25 - 464 days ago.
hey ladies i am being investigated for PCOS. I have no symptoms apart from very irregular periods although i get them every month. My scan shows cysts and i have had blood taken. What do u ladies think of these results: FSH 4 and LH 9????
