logigirl - I am 34 weeks and on met, i wouldnt stop taking it. Talk to a different doc, theres studies that show high rate of m/c with those who were not or stopped taking their met. you still can m/c but instead of being at a 30-40percent chance you are lowered to a 10per chance. some docs say to take all threw pregnancy or just to 13 weeks. Iv been on it all along, everything is perfect with the baby. I did end up having G diabetes at 26 weeks so they uped my dose from 500mg 2x a day to 1000 mg 2x a day.

liz217 - 464 days ago.
logigirl - I also have PCOS, I am almost 20 weeks pregnant and still on metformin. I take 2 pills a day. My doc said he will keep me on it until about 20 weeks when the baby starts practicing breathing. Then they have to take me off of it. I would fight your docs decision this early on though. My doc said pulling you off metformin early in pregnancy can significantly increase your chances of miscarriage. Get a second opinion!!

logigirl - 464 days ago.
I recently tested positive for pregnancy. I was forced to switch doctors. The new doctor has told me to stop taking my metformin. Is this normal? I'm afraid to do anything wrong.

NewChapter20(Pink!) - 466 days ago.
Hi. So I found out today that I have aparently had a period, only three weeks after my m/c; so my gyno has startded me on my first round of Clomid this Thursday. I hope it works :) I'll know by December 3rd if this is a successful cycle. Baby Dust to all.

dominique23 - 469 days ago.
toomanyyrs - I started taking metformin and that regulated my periods, I was getting them every so often or some times would go a few months with out one, so being on the met has worked for me , and has helped beat the high odds of miscarriage with pcos, since iv been taking it threw the whole pregnancy. I ended up with G. diabetes so i had to be on it anyways to help with that too. I had so many times my per would be late too and id have to take prova to start it, and always had to take a pregnancy test to make sure i wasnt pregnant before taking the 10 day dose, and this last time i really was pregnant which was a huge shock. Now im almost 34 weeks. Good luck with everything i hope you get a positive.

TwinCarrier - 470 days ago.
To All of you: Reading your messages breaks my heart. I have been blessed with two beautiful little boys. However, I do not feel like this is fair. I recently came across a woman who had miscarried numerous times and had given up. She decided to seek a Gestational Carrier a.k.a. Surrogate Mother. The carrier she selected backed out at the last second and she was devastated. I could not bare to see her pain so I offered to carry for her. On August 6, 2010, I delivered twins (one boy and one girl) for that woman and they are biologically her children. I honestly hope that all of you can achieve your families on your own. However, if you would like to talk to somone about a gestational carrier, I would be more than willing to answer your questions. It is the least I can do for you. I will pray for all of you.

toomanyyrs - 470 days ago.
dominique23 -> Thank you for your reply. The issues I have is that I don't know if I have ovulated and won't know until I see the Dr. As for the sure sign with a missed period, I don't have periods. Even after I took my meds to bring one on I went 2 months with out my meds and no period. I have gone as long as 7 yrs wihout one. So I can not go by a missed period. I have gone through so much having this condition it takes its toll on one.I have spent the last 18 yrs trying for a child. Sorry make it 16 yrs as I took 2 yrs to myself after my marriage. So I am sure you can understand how I feel. Oh yes I want to say congrats to you and your husband. What did you do or take to make it work?

dominique23 - 470 days ago.
toomanyyrs-Implantation does not occur until 6-12 days after ovulation. So the soonest you can take a pregnancy test and get a positive test result is seven days after ovulation, though many women will get a false negative at this time. It can be tough, but you should try to wait to take a pregnancy test until 10-12 days after ovulation. Remember, even if you wait that long, you may still show a negative result. If you miss your period, you should retest. 90% of women will get a positive result the first day after a missed period--but 10% of women will test negative even though they are pregnant. I was about 4 weeks when i took a home test, the first one i took didnt work there was nothing in the control line, so i took another one the next day and it was positive along with all the other ones i took. Id just go get a test, if its neg then take another one next week.

Hi I am new to this as I have never been in a chat group about PCOS before. When I was 15, I started to have problems with my period. The Dr.'s told me it could just be that my body was not ready after all. A few years later I was told that I have PCOS and may never have kids. I didn't know if I should cry or be happy. See I have wanted children all my life and I was upset with what I was just told. However, I was still young and didn't want to have one right away. In 1992 I met the man I latter married in 1997. We tried to have a baby (more so me) until 2007 when I left him. During that time we had no luck at all. I am now with the most amazing guy (2yrs) and we both want a family so bad. I have gone back to see a fertility Dr. and have taken medication to bring on my period. See I would only get my period when on medication. I would have to say I might have produced 12 myself witout meds. So I have taken this medication to bring one on and then day 5 of my cycle I take my ovulation med. The first time I took it I had no luck with ovulation. This time under Dr. orders I have dbl that medication and am waiting for the results. I am trying to find out how early one can tell and what to look for to see if it worked. I am more tired than normal, my breasts are a little sensitive (not much) I was cramping as if my period was going to start, while and after taking the med. I am feeling very bloated. If I don't eat I feel a little ill. This is not normal for me. I see the Dr. on Nov 15 but I am not sure if he will be able to do a blood test at that point. It will be 17 days since we last had sex at that point. However it will be 30 days since my period ended. I did my day 21 blood test that he should have the results to when I see him. This will tell us if the med made me ovulate. I know that even though I have an extream case of PCOS I do ovulate. They discovered this when I had some surgery done. They are just not sure when or how often. I am wanting to know so bad if it worked and if I am with child. I am 38 and not getting any younger lol. I so want to be a mom. Anyone have any helpful info they can provide? I can not take met as it makes me ill. I would just like to say that I understand more than most what everyone with PCOS is going through. I read about people who have just found out and I think wow it has been about 23 yrs for me. I am not trying to take anything away from anyone by any means. We all feel the pain I know. I just mean I have been dealing with it for many years now and want a baby so bad. Can anyone provide any info that my Dr. might not have given me?

mum2b2jj - 471 days ago.
I miscarried yesterday and I'm hurt, yet so angry. this is my 3rd miscarriage this year and i feel as though i'm all cried out. If it wasn't for my DD i don't think i could hold it together. Saying that, i don't think i'm doing such a great job at that. Yesterday i was a wreck. Today i was in so much pain that i couldn't think about much else. DH had to stay at home yesterday and today to sort out DD becasue i couldn't even lift her. It's so easy to say don't give up and keep trying. I never want to... But i know i can't take all this heartache. What's worse, i have now started thinking, 'What is it that i have done so bad to have this keep hapeening to me?'. All i want is a baby, but my own body is failing me. Is it my PCO I just feel so much anger right now.

I have hypothyroidism 200mcg once a day and my ob told me that I need to take 300mcg. I am 16 weeks pregnant and will it effect my pregnancy?

synthiaw - 477 days ago.
hey girls how are we all going??

synthiaw - 487 days ago.
forcedpaitents i am so soorry for your loss...hang in there hunny. my doc told me the more misscarridges the more closley you are to have a baby. Goodluck when you try again.

dominique23 - 490 days ago.
ForcedPatience- Im really sorry for your loss. Its been shown that people with pcos who take metformin threw their pregnancy, have a lot lower risk of miscarriage. I think the statistics are 30-40% chance of miscarriage when you have pcos, and being on metformin it lowers it to about 10 % . Might be something you might want to consider with the next pregnancy. Again im really sorry for your loss.

NewChapter20(Pink!) - 490 days ago.
Well my baby survived 8 weeks then... Monday I went to the hospital and after 37 hours was let out on bed rest. I had a misscarrige... I'm trying to stay positive and hopefully get some information from my gyno. about how long I have to wait to try again, and how long I'm going to be bleeding for.

heathermichelle - 507 days ago.
Hey ladies. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2006 after TTC. I was heart broken. A few months later I started a clomid cycle and tried it for about 5 months and was so frustrated that I stopped taking it. We have ttc for 4.5 years and in July we decided to try the clomid again. this time I had been taking metformin for about 8 months and took the first cycle of clomid in July and finally got the phone call saying I had ovulated. A week later I took the test and got a BFP! I honestly believe the metformin had something to do with it. I am now 10 weeks with a healthy growing baby and couldn't be any happier.

To all ladies out there with PCOS, I want to share my experience, If it can help any body, I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2006 and had a orange size cyst on left ovary, very very painful, I took for one month ibobrufen 8-12 tablets a day, I dont know how severe was my condition , but I got pregnant in 2008 without any medicine at all. All the Doctors I consulted, prescribed me metformin, clomid etc, But, We conceived the same month, we ttc, Now what can be secret, You guys believe it or not, i was doing regular yoga just breathing exercises from 2006 to 2008 and also took YAZ the birth control pills, If any body want to give a try I can search and send you link for those breathing exercises, it may be somewhere in youtube, I lost almost 14 pounds, I had a beautiful boy in 2009 and expecting a girl in jan, 2011, this time again no medicine at all. Good luck to all of you, PCOS is totally manageable, in my case Insulin level was so high, I just had control on my sugar cravings.

NewChapter20(Pink!) - 512 days ago.
Hey PCOS ladies. I could really use some advice. I'm still getting to know all the details I have to deal with having PCOS. I have a few questions regarding ttc and after you concieve so if you could message me I'd really appreciate it.

synthiaw - 513 days ago.
Dear ladies, oh what a long few days i have had, had big fight with mum, told her i wanted to kill myself and now my doc has put me back on anti depressants. so i feel my life is over. Feel like crap and there goes my weight loss. Hate myself for doing this to me and hate god for making me ill. i just cant see the good side of having PCO and i guess its playing on my mind more then i thought.

tina71 - 514 days ago.
Good morning ladies. I just wanted to say it is possible to get prego with PCOS. I have been diagnosed with it for years and recently found out I am 7 weeks along. I wish all of you the best of luck, dont give up, but dont stress about it!!

LudiMommy - 515 days ago.
Katie, it sounds like the kind of pain that can accompany an enlarged ovarian cyst, which usually worsens after ovulation up to AF. Even though they can get quite large and painful, usually nothing is done about them unless they rupture. They can be confirmed by ultrasound. If the pain is significant, get it checked out.

KatieA - 516 days ago.
hi ladies, i was just looking for some advice. i was told 2 months ago that i have PCOS. I don't see a specialist until mid next month. Now about 5-7 days ago I ovulated (had the ovulation pain from my left ovary) then after 24-48 hrs the pain stopped, but then 2 days ago i started getting dull aching pain across my entire uteran area which radiated around my entire lower back. I have been constantly aching since then and i have also been feeling a bit sickly with it. I was just wondering if anyone with PCOS has experienced this? i'm not sure if this is common or not and whether i should go back to my dr?
