Twins:FraternalDo fraternal twins look alike?
When twins do not look alike, it is known as fraternal twins.
Fraternal twins develop when two eggs are fertilized by two sperm. This type of twin pregnancy can result in 2 boys, 2 girls or one of each. They can be as similar or different as others brothers and/or sisters born to the same parents at different times.
While they don't share an identical genetic code, fraternal twins do share a special bond. If prenatal experiences mean anything, sharing the same womb must certainly create some sort of bond. But beyond that, they're almost the same exact age, if they grow up in the same home (as most do) they share the same environment, so they have circumstantially bonded from the start!
When a sperm meets an egg in the fallopian tube, fertilization union of egg and sperm can occur. If this happens, the fertilized egg moves down the fallopian tube to the uterus where it attaches and grows into a fetus. During this process, twins can form. Fraternal twins each have their own placenta and amniotic sac. Comments: Twins - Fraternal

uklizzie- from what I understand they are genetic. I am a fraternal twin and having them also. My doctor said it all depends on how your mother ovulated with how you will. 2 eggs means fraternal twins! Congrats. uklizzie

Anyone know for sure if Fraternal twins are hereditary or not, some sites say yes, some people say yes but I'm not 100% sure..........
